These are the very questions we had to grapple with as we decided to start our true crime podcast. We are Christian women first and foremost. We fully believe we can learn from these stories; education vs. entertainment. When we read horrible stories in the OT, we learn from them. The same goes for these true stories-they have much to teach us: protection, awareness, compassion, serving others who have experienced trauma, recognizing red flags, where to find help, and so much more. But above all in the OT we see a God who is writing a story of redemption as well as a God of justice. We try to look at every episode we do through biblical worldview as we grapple with the question of evil, nature vs. nurture, psychology, the current day justice system and of course to see where God is working in the situation. You did a great job with this video.
I don’t think that watching true crime is inherently sinful but what you watch stays in your mind and can haunt you especially if you have anxiety. I watched true crime stuff as a teen and it didn’t start effecting me until I became older and started getting scared of what could happen to me or to family. So definitely be careful if you susceptible fear and anxiety.
Good video. I had no idea that true crime podcasts, stories, documentaries, etc, had risen to that level of popularity. A third of Americans! (Did I hear that statistic right?) Gotta admit that it’s easy to be sucked into. A few years back, my now 80 year old mother watched a lot of this stuff on TV. I can understand seeing a show here or there but she was really getting into it. Often I would make my youngest son leave the room just so his brain didn’t get filled up with all the dark content. Then I think even she realized what was happening and totally switched genres. Now she watches tons of Hallmark style movies!
Another perspective to consider- Of course Christians should watch it. The entire premise of the Bible and Christianity is a true crime story and we even celebrate it every Easter!
This reminds me of Truth Unites's video on how the early church prohibited its members from going to gladiator matches. They believed using violence as a form of entertainment had a formative effect on the viewer, sometimes even considering it participation in the act. "To see a man put to death is much the same as killing him."
I suppose you could interact with it and it be positive or you could watch it and it be ok. For me, however, it isn't a beneficial thing as I find the events live on in my mind. I choose to learn life saving or defending tactics from professionals who can teach me what is needed.
Gid knows your heart. If were watching to learn from it, I don't feel its sinful. We cant put our heads in the sand like ostriches. Knowledge is power! 👍
Please make your videos accessible without having to sign in… I sent this to friends and they couldn’t watch it because they don’t have a RUclips account 😢 it defeats the purpose of sharing these
Not having an account to watch the videos kind of defeats the creators purpose. You can't like or comment on a video without an account and likes and comments are what drives them up in the algorithm. Instead of admonishing a creator to allow non beneficial to them views, why not admonish your friends to create an account so that the relationship can benefit both sides instead of only your friends reaping benefits but denying the benefits to the content creators who do this for a job??
@ most RUclipsrs videos are able to be watched without an account. In the case of seniors or adults that aren’t tech savvy it’s very beneficial to be able to watch a video without an account and without commenting or liking it. This is the first time I’ve ever ran across a video on RUclips that I couldn’t watch without having to sign in.
@itsmarieg5816 I understand. Regardless of the reason you have, I'm explaining why some creators choose to require you to sign in. They are providing you free content. They are allowing you to benefit from their hard work for free already. You're not thinking of their hard work. You're only thinking about your convenience. I'm trying to get you to think about the creator also, instead of only yourself and your friends. Instead of being thoughtful, you doubled down on selfishness. 😅
@ no you don’t know why I said what I said… it’s not about my convenience- they’re trying to educate the christian community about certain moral issues. If that’s their main focus- why not make it so anyone and everyone can watch it as easy as possible? Also, views are views whether or not someone is signed into their RUclips account
@itsmarieg5816 I LITERALLY EXPLAINED WHY. I explained how likes and comments help them, but you don't care. Stop talking to me. I don't have time for selfish strangers.

Definitely a lesson to learn, guard your heart, mind and soul as you pursue the Lord 🙏❤️✝️🔥
Sheeeee, quality content, whoever was speaking crushed it 😮💨

I appreciate this. I have a teen daughter who wants to go into forensic science who likes to read mystery crime novels
I watch to learn how to protect myself as an older woman
