I shared this on the train on February 6, 2020. A man was sitting across from me and he was playing a mix tape he had produced. He loved it. Thank you Miko. Keep up the good and important work!
Love this song. And love to see such a universally positive (albeit limited) response to it, instead of the plethora of hate-filled, violent, racist trolling I was expecting. I guess Ms. Marks left them speechless. I guess they know she's right (and things had better change around here right quick).
This song is most likely why there are so few followers for the album. It isnt about "let's make a change" it is trying to tell us it's already over. This is not Country Music. It's fatalistic and that just doesnt play well with COUNTRY music fans. Try again in another 14 years.....
There's no fatalism in country music? I guess it must be some other genre I've been listening to all these years. But in any case, no Black woman in country music sings a song like this because she's given up. Instead, she's giving notice that she's just begun to fight.
The new Queen of Soul - no question!
Sadly, for America, these are timeless lyrics. Great song! Fabulous musicians!
Just want to say hope to see you in Asheville sometime...
Our time has not come
And that is why we are here and we ARE free.
I Love it.
Love her!!
great song
Beautiful voice, strong and clear message that change must come NOW! Thank you for this amazing song. :)
I found this song while looking for a Mary Chapin Carpenter song of the same title. It’s an absolute gem and the artistry is superb.

I am ABSOLUTELY against looting.
By the way, all the Museums in the west are full of looting. #RedToneRecords
