This is a different version than what I've always listened to. His voice sounded kind of different than his usual stuff. He is one of the better artists out of the 90s era. James Stroud produced some of his albums (as well as quite a few Clint Black albums). I really like "I'd Give Anything To Be Your Everything Again" and "That's How a Cowgirl Says Goodbye". Awesome video! - Everett

I agree that for whatever reason his voice was nasally or off in this song, and I don't remember it being like that when I have previously listened to it. He also has some videos of him singing live on his page. He has many songs I love and "Time Marches On", "Alibis", "If the World Had a Front Porch", "You Find Out Who Your Friends Are", and "Sticks and Stones" are just a few that I would like you all to listen to.

I've just listened to three different versions of this song (because it sounded different from what I was used to hearing on the radio) and all three had very different versions of his voice. This one was the most "different". Maybe "nasally"? I even tried a live version to see if the radio/album version I was used to was just heavily produced, but the live version was still closer to the album version (to my ears at least) than this was. Don't know what was going on when he did this recording.

It was fun seeing you stop and reassess what you were hearing once the chorus came in! It's not the best recording of his voice, but a great song - one of his later ones, from 2004. Check out some of his songs from the mid 90's - Sticks and Stones, Alibis, If the Good Die Young, How a Cowgirl Says Goodbye. Another singer you haven't listened to yet is Mark Chesnutt - one of my favorite songs ever is "Bubba Shot the Jukebox"! (He had a good reason! It wasn't his fault!) Also "Old Flames Have New Names" and "Gonna Get a Life".

Tracy's biggest hit, arguably, was "Time Marches On" and my favorite is a bear forgotten one, "Renegades, Rebels and Rogues" I think it was for the "Maverick" movie soundtrack with Mel Gibson and James Garner.

I’m from Alabama and I was in medical school in Birmingham when this song was released (2004)… majority of people thought the song was about an actual home in Birmingham, Al but it’s actually about a Birmingham style home. Which is the style of house he’s describing in the song. And not sure why his vocals sounded so different on this video, but in concert and studio he sounds much better. Maybe this is a recording from his later years. But still a great review and good guess!
