Lets be honest guys…… All of us in the Guitar Community know this. Going over some of styles of Jimi Hendrix, Tosin Abasi, Ichika Nito, Mac Demarco, Goo Goo Dolls, Eddie Van Halen etc. Differences between Boomers, Gen X, Millenials, and Gen Z.

Basically
1st boomer= Blues rock
2nd boomer= Hard rock and heavy metal
Gen X= Alternative Rock
1st Millennial= Indie Rock
2nd Millennial= Djent
Gen Z= Midwest emo/ Math rock

Mostly the arpeggiated guitar parts have the influence from 72-74 KC, sometimes with an extra tapping.
Boomer iteration 2 is older Gen X. Boomers like 60s & 70’s rock. Gen Xers span metal to grunge.
I'm a millenial who started off with punk as a kid, thrash as a early teen, metalcore and deathcore leaving high school, now I'm learning blues. Life's weird man.
I'm the weird zoomer who plays grungey riffs through fuzz pedals he made himself.

As technology progresses musical equipment, instruments, and training programs all on computer arises. No wonder there are so many awesome musicians now

You are leaving out a monstrous portion of Gen X , a very very large portion of us grew up on Metallica Megadeth Pantera slayer anthrax maiden etc. The real stuff that's played with alot of passion anger love and skill .

Millennial here, very accurate.
Blues are the most cherished. We cannot have rock without blues.
And when Gen X said "whatever" to all that.. We millennials got to enjoy 2 decades of all sorts of music, I listened to alternative, punk, screamo, emo, metal.. a lot of the melodic moody stuff came from Gen X and that's great (it feels like it's a dead scene today and that's a shame)
Millennials largely played the part listening, I feel like, very few of us picked up an instrument and the ones that really enjoyed what's out there were the Hardcore bros chugging and galloping away.
I don't think Gen Z will ever be bored enough to spark a new inspirational music scene.
Genx also road into Baghdad playing let the bodies hit the floor while the ones at home listened to depression rock and American pie music.

I’m a zoomer guitarist who can mostly play all of those, but chooses to stay the hell away from Millennial 1/ indie. I dunno. I’m a classic rocker/ jazz aficionado and probably have an inborn distaste for “Avant-garde” type stuff. Who knows. 🤷🏻♂️
Are people confused as to what a GENX really is? Because most of us grew up on Metallica or hair metal or shitty stuff like madonna or flock of seagulls..
Actually a lot of Gen X'ers I know are heavy Rock and Metal guys. Not too many with the whole wuss Seattle sounding crap.
