  • The Fireball sat at the back of the boat shed for over 8 years do to minor problems, (broken foot strap). decided to pull it out and get it onto the water, then found a few larger problems, hole in the deck and and small cracks all over deck coat, allowing water into the wood. so i decided that a full refurbishment was in order.
Over the years an older fireball came and was then sold, but the mast to Aquila went with it, so we had to adapt this mast to fit.
once deck prep was done, did a primer then base coat, masking taped the desired pattern and then painted colour over, fading from stern to bow, removed the masking tape, then rounded off edges before putting the clear coat on, added trapeze grip to wet clear coat.
Rigging was pretty much all there just a few minor adjustments to the race rigging for kicker, cunningham and outhaul.
Still a work in progress as with new mast had to reroute the spinnaker halyard with cleats and blocks and then back to chute, as well as spinnaker sheet cleats, hopefully to have it done soon,
Looking forward to many years of it on the water.
Thanks to Greg and Keagan who help with the hard work of preparing the deck.

That is really awesome. Can you tell me more about the 'trapeze grip' you put on?
