    That is one hell of a bug zapper! Bat Zapper! Maybe a chicken roaster; it stuns it, kills it, plucks it, roasts it, and flings it to your table, all without a farmer, butcher, chef, or waitress!! You will get your dinner either that way or the Sunday chicken dinner you will get in prison after you knock out the national electric grid.

      Great story! We gotta experiment right? I know what you mean about the grid; it is a huge redundancy machine, very hard to crash; it has to be because like you said they built the segments weakly.

      I hope his neighbors don't live too close the amount of EM energy it would put out would definietly cause radio interference problems not to mention the Frequencies he operates it on might be in violation of FCC rules regarding interference from electrical devices in effect he may be operating an unlicensed transmitter. But that said the display was awsome and demonstrated the genuis of Tesla

      I sort of doubt your story first off with that current draw you could have possibly fried you local pole / supply transformer or more likely you would have tripped the line fuses on the poles the low voltage side. On the high voltage side of your story is a bunch of BS about frying a fuse at a substation actually they dont have fuses they have drop out links the same as at the poles, if they get to hot enough due to overcurrent they expand and the weight causes the line to fall away from its connection. The reason I don't believe your story is the low voltage drop outs would have kicked first thus preventing damage to the transformers from the near direct short you caused

    I have built a few much smaller Tesla Coils. The bolts of this one are great. I bet the ozone smells strong in the air when this goes off. I know that when I run the small ones (19" across) for about 5 or so minutes in demonstrations indoors you can really smell it. Great job and amazing every time.

      The patent drawings and abstract do not give a "mode of operation" as such, but was still sufficient to protect Tesla's intellectual property. It is thought he used this version of the "Tesla Coil" to as the collector for his atmospheric energy system.
      Tesla also had a "Tesla Coil" called the pancake coil, too... totally different application.

    I know a guy that built one of these in a small garage. His capacitors were all home made with glass and metal plates in some kind of oil. I think he used neon sign transformers for the voltage and some kind of adjustable arc gap device. He fired it up for me and my brother . It's always amazing to me to find someone that has the passion to take an interest and apply so much time and effort to make something great. Beautifully done! What is your goal with the project ?

  • @3D6Space
    @3D6Space 10 лет назад +16

    Silly... I love Tesla's work and how it is being used for useful things, but if all you want to do is make big sparks, wouldn't it be easier to just throw a wire over those high voltage power lines? With a coil of this size, I would love to see this guy build a bunch of receivers and see how much energy he can put to use and how far it can be transferred. See Tesla's 1901 Patent US685957 on how to create these receivers and do something more than create big sparks....

    Wow! this is nuts, but in a good way. A few years back they had a guy on "Coast to Coast" who built a Jacobs Ladder about 5ft. tall.He claims he threw a sheet metal screw into 1 of the arcs, and it disappeared, then re-appeared 10 minutes later. So he built an even bigger one with stolen power co. transformers, and the cops arrested him just as he was about to jump off his roof into 1 of the arcs on it. He was from Oklahoma too! I wonder if it's the same guy? This vid made my day, too cool!!!

    Thanks for posting this video. That he gets such good results with simply chicken-wire surrounding that simple plywood arbor on top is unexpected and amazing. The discharges seem to emanate from a limited number of exophytic features, which would be expected, so he might want to try covering that with something smooth and conductive, to get larger discharges.

      @RGRundeRGRound 10 лет назад

      Most Tesla Coil experimenters are not qualified electricians, either, But they take their own safety seriously, as anyone working with High Voltage should do. It's just so others cannot claim they were misled by this video, liability and such.

    • @HelloKittyFanMan.
      @HelloKittyFanMan. 10 лет назад +2

      RGRundeRGRound, ya don't have to be an electrician in order to know and use proper electricity safety guidelines. But that wasn't my point. My point was that since the title emphasizes "your," that means we have some allowance left over to try it at *someone else's* home, and I was just asking the poster for confirmation on that.
      It's somewhat facetious because really, if it's possibly too dangerous for most people to try on their own, then the phrase shouldn't be "Don't try this at home" or "Don't try this at your home," but instead, "Don't try this yourselves."
      (Also, the c on "Tesla Coil" doesn't need to be capitalized. Why did you think it did?)
      Happy Mother's Day to your family!
      Mike

    This reminds me of my high school science project in 1967. I built a Tesla Coil that looked very much like this one, it was 48" tall. The primary coil at the bottom was 100' of 45kv ignition wire, The tall secondary was wound on a 4"x48" clear pvc with about 2100' of 26 guage wire wound on it. The capacitor was 18"x18" glass with 14"x14" plates.The input was a neon sign transformer with120vac primary and15kvac secondary. I like your pigs however. It really lit the room when operating.

Yes, it is really expensive to build this generator, and if it should be used as a receiver, what will this invention be receiving? And I do understand more, just for making a typo, doesn't mean I partially understand what this generator does. And by the way you typed that comment, I assumed you were frustrated or angry, so I will be easy on you and try not to insult you.

    Breeze. The ionized path of the bolt drifts along with the ambient volume of air. As the pre-ionized air drifts with the breeze, so the general tenancy of the bolts to drifts the right.

    Btw, I think this is also a power plant. I heard of Nikola Tesla's way of generating electric power. From what I understand it automatically collects electric power in the surrounding area. So to answer your question, if you have the right supplies like this guy has, you wouldn't need any electricity.

    This is a question for anyone with an answer. What would be a good way to conduct the discharge to lessen the spread or dissipate it. And once thats done, make use of the energy created from that?

  • @Cocotte123321

    It uses electricity.
    However, if you're using renewable sources to produce the electricity for this, you have effectively created renewable fireworks.
    Also I think it'll mildly improve nitrogen concentration in the soil, but it's not very efficient.
    So basically it's just pretty dancing lights

    actually, the system required you to have an electrical source sourcing charge into the ionosphere which could then be extracted by another coil. Without the sourcing charge, your sinking potential would be more limited.

    that is not energy from the air i am sorry to say. a tesla coil. is like a hose with water. the coil simply takes electricity and preasurises it like shooting water out of the nozzle of a hose. trust me it is pluged in the something. tesla did do work on radiant energy making electricity using capaciters to get electricty from simple vibrations. correct me if i am wrong please.

    What find curious is why the discharges appear to be moving in frame left to right ? Was there a mild breeze present on the day of testing?

  • @JohnRaynerGenius

    G,day Lee, that certainly is a nice classical Tesla machine he built, thanks for bringing it to my attention. The discharge emanating from the terminal capacitor is en-trained to focus predominantly to the right due to the geometry of that particular Break Out Point thereupon the terminal capacitor, there are a total of 18 break out points comprising as the sub assembly terminal capacitors, whereby the point of leakage occurs at that vector due to a conductive element affixing said sub assembly terminal capacitor being either sharper (pointier) or longer than the rest of the 17 other break out points, thereto also a fluidic air stream such as wind can en-train the plasma's vectors, thereto also the grounds upon the right hand side may be higher in silica content being a greater dielectric or lower in moisture whereby the arc will wish to travel to a point in space with greater potential difference
    and/or greater " mean free path" of electron/light travel,
    Mate there is very little magnetic component thereof a HV discharge, namely the magnetic component is contained to couple betwixt the Primary and Secondary inductive circuits, hence why Tesla did his damnedest to eliminate "Break Out" via a Torroidal or Spherical terminal capacitor designs whereto transmit a greater magnitude of EM radiation to his tuned receptor coils ( Remote Tertiary's) as per wireless energy propagation over distance.
    Hey Bro you asked :-) , an excellent observation on your behalf.
    Good to hear from you Old Mate, All the best to you.
