Bigger the box the louder it will play on low power. When they start ramping up the power, they will need to shrink that box and/or port to maintain cone control.

@@noodles_and_bananas maybe a burst, or burp. But that's about it. Those drivers aren't taking that power, musically or for ANY period of time, before saturating the coil, and resulting in thermal failure. Power handling is altered, upon enclosure volume, and tuning. I got a demo from this build, at Slam, amd discussed the build with a few of them there. They knew, that they couldn't supply the subwoofer with its rated power, without reducing the enclosure volume. It was built with that much enclosure volume, to be louder, on less power.
I own one of these Orion HCCA SPLX 18. I am pushing 8k RMS into it all day long. The sub weighs 235 pounds, not 285. And you can burp it at 20K. This sub is a monster. The masive box makes this sub look small, but it is not.. The sub put in my box has a total weight of 400 pounds. I made my box out of 3/4 birch. I doubled up on the walls, so it is 1.5 inches thick. Baffles is 3 inches thick. So there is no flex. I tuned my box to 30HZ. My box doesn't look as good as his but does the job. I am glad to see someone else running one of these. He is barely moving it in this video. Great job on the box. I love it. I would love to have seen the strapped amps pushing the sub.

I have been using a audiobahn 1208q for over 20 years on a Jensen 900.1. I put a fan on the amplifier and it never overheats. I have it in a Volt so I have 10,000 watt battery and 600 amp alternator stock. It is like a timeless work of art!

I've always wanted to see that sub in action.......I think they run 2k+.I had the 15 inch version.....but that one version is special.
This is the HCCASPLX sub, not to be confused with just the HCCASPL subs...... The regular HCCA's are dope too don't get me wrong, but the SPLX ones are on a whole other level
Subs keep getting bigger and heavier but I've still never seen a reason for it acoustically. The 90s brought us 160+ dB builds with subs way smaller than this, has efficiency really died in modern times? It's cool in its own way, but I'll never go the route of 20+ grand to run one sub. Who would even want to mount this lol. Insanity.

The frequency is getting lower too, 160 db is not to hard at 60hz...but at 20hz it will take more

Orion used to make a 32" (maybe it was 36") subwpofer back in the 90s. Way before a few other brandsade their 30+" subs. Honestly it really wasn't as great as you would think, but still had the cool factor.

Wow! This is the first time I've ever seen a vid on this 18" Orion subwoofer in a box!! It's way louder than I was expecting on low watts!! I got over 4k rms watts on my single 18" Resilient Sounds Platinum subwoofer and I'm probably only hitting a 150db at 34hz but I never metered it. 10 cubes is huge for an 18 and that sub is already moving alot. if he were to clamp 7500 to that sub it would be fried in no time

@@ColdVenom159 It's moving a lot because it has 10 cubes of air space. The more power he adds the smaller the box should be to handle the power. That sub will handle 12k watts rms in a 6 cube box
@@drfoulcheesevirus air space has zero to do with how far a sub will move. the lower the freq played the more the sub will move. air space just allows the sub to breath. the smaller the air space the sub will suffercate as it cant breath. these subs like the hccas are built to push lows hard. the more a sub can breath the the more it will handle/do using less power. the sub will absolutely not do 12k rms lmmfao. think you need to learn the difference between burping power and rms power.

SO, I Googled>>>Do smart phones have a microphone port? I was glad to see that they do. As soon as the power is 'brought up', in every subwoofer video, VIEWER sound quality turns into square waves, hence the (cumulative, not really here - all good) appreciable # of negative comments across the genre that I've SEEN, but I'm sure it can be, in part if not fully, due to smart phone mics overwhelmed. No one should NEED to yell into a megaphone, right? Same idea - maybe in reverse. Someone should look into this and if it really sounded like I'm saying IN the vehicles, THAT would be a bummer. Take a look - It'd be OK to re-create the wheel! There's always a better way...😐😏🤥
