As one of the neter KOTLs, I've been building a ton of laser designator, beam rider, and single pixel IR missiles onto craft as of late. Honestly all of them are pretty good compared to traditional radar and IR guided systems and are probably better than remote guided in most cases due to cost. While single pixel IR is less versatile, I highly recommend trying out single pixel IR kinetic missiles as they're pretty solid. It turns out laser designator small missiles are also pretty decent at AA compared to most other missile types as well.

I am a convert to using laser guided missiles with delayed targetting. You can send VLMs sky-high for two seconds and then have them come in at a viscious angle and practically drill the same spot until they're all the way through. You can set 12 medium missiles to punch straight through heavy armour when they all target the same area.

Laser guided were the first missiles I used, as I found them quite reliable.

I wonder if changing the aim point selection time for laser deg. would help keep tracking as it changes every 5 seconds by default

Yes, that definitely helps. You also need to take care that the craft doesn't switch targets too often, as that essentially wastes missiles.

Something I've noticed while using laser guided missiles which is important to note. Smoke can reduce accuracy of the missiles as the laser turns yellow if it passes through smoke.
I have had another idea how to utilize laser guidance.
Small, highly evasive drones that stick to the enemy to minimize inaccuracy due to less distance between laser and target (I do think it does make a difference and actually does make the missiles much more accurate) while the mothership throws missiles at the enemy craft from a safe distance.
The disadvantages of having the lasers on small guidance drones on the other hand:
It only works with the Lasser Designator as the Laser Beam-Rider doesn't allow the option to target lasers of the own team but only of the own craft.
And the mothership has to respawn the drones incase they do get destroyed or reapir them after the battle if they got hit which is rather costly in terms of materials.

How interesting! I've got to try those out for my ship-launched missiles. I have some small planes that don't have enough detection components to ensure quality tracks that will have to keep their IR missiles, but ships don't have that issue, and to be honest having radar missiles always go towards the largest target is a huge pain. I guess one just needs to make sure there are redundant designators.
Oh, and if you're already using a signal processor for your IR/radar missiles (as one should), switching to a designator/beam rider missile won't even use any extra space.

Since beam riders ignore smoke, I wonder if that helps counter smoke affecting the laser designator.

It does help a little, yes. 👍

How do you access the enemy spawning menu? I have always had to manually find the blueprint and change the faction through the ESC menu vehicle loader/saver.

Hit X in the vehicle designer. :)

Please, Ues F, it auto fills areas for you, I have lost hours of time from not knowing this, also r can be used to swap on a selected block, p makes all the blocks appear smaller to navigate through the insides of your ship, and v opens up a menu of your ship, also there’s x for spawning enemy ships, please this knowledge, it will save you

They can be arrayed horizontal! It's just easier to launch them vertically, and easier to armor them that way.

@@BorderWise12 Weird. I can't get missiles to launch like, at all. Ship mounted. Maybe The values aren't set properly for priority?
Edit: after watching the video again, it seems I need to tinker a lot with The Laser guidance and the Target prioritization. I'm trying to use small missiles instead. Realizing now my ideas of a Cybertronian inspired fleet should not take priority over figuring out programming and durability of ship designs first.

@@ItsJoKeZ Figured out how to launch them, but now I cannot have the missiles go towards the target. They just go completely straight, when the enemy is detected. Sometimes missing them by a lot. Sonar Torpedoes do not work for me, at all. Mediums, that is. Even with the laser designator every shot misses.
