  • HI everyone here is the first time I hauled firewood with the new Polar HD 1500 utility trailer! This thing is a firewood hauling BEAST! I am very happy with it so far! It holds a TON of firewood! I got this whole maple tree out in only two trips!

    Hi Jay! Wow, what an upgrade! The slopped rear of the trailer and the height made is much easier to handle those big rounds. A whole big maple in two loads! Excellent! Thanks for sharing!

      Hey Ray! My Big Bear is a 400 so it hauls it fine too! I think the main things is how bumpy/hilly are the trails. If the trails are flat and smooth pulling a firewood trailer is easy!

  • @brettblack7049
    @brettblack7049 3 года назад +3

    Many of those rounds I would have noodled(cut in half from the bark side) in half, more saw time and cutting them is less of a pain in the back than lifting them. I also use the noodles for chicken bedding.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  3 года назад

      Hey Brett! I love me some noodles lol but I left them large for the boiler I need some large "overnight" rounds which is what these are! One I get enough "overnighters" Ill split the rest at least once!

      So far so good and I had a lot of positive comments from other people who have same trailer. I got mine online (Amazon) but Tractor Supply carries this line so check out those too! The Amazon was cheaper but took over a week to get here which wasn’t a big deal. My total between the trailer. Hitch. And side rails was $760

    That's quite a trailer. Come back and do another video a year from. Now. That maple would dry out a lot if you split it.i know you said you split rounds. I will bet you a cord of wood you would burn less if you split your wood a year ahead of time.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  3 года назад

      Hey Mike! Not sure if you noticed or not but we heat with an outdoor wood boiler so no need to split! Ill burn these in a few years!

    • @harveyroad6
      @harveyroad6 3 года назад

      @@HomesteadJay I did and a lot of guys I know have gone back to splitting because the wood dries more and they get more heat per log since they aren't throwing damp logs in the boiler. Less smoke too.
      Do a one cord trial sometime.
      Use all split seasoned and dry wood versus rounds. I will bet you a case of good beer you will notice a difference and go back to splitting rounds at least in half. The one to two days work splitting in your yard will save you one to two days bucking cutting in the bush.
      I am fart smeller, I meant smart feller. LoL Good luck.
