Not only does this look fantastic and probably taste just as good you know a bowl of that is so healthy for and gives you loads of the good stuff. This is why we like Jamie.
Thank you Jamie! Made it today with what's available in my kitchen and it was absolutely delicious! pancetta, onion, celery, potatoes, baked beans, kidney beans, added tomato puree and barley! (from your lovely friend Genaro Cantando) i am happy.
I have become a soup fairy & love all soups year round. This is a favorite of mine but I learned 2 new tricks with his video, chopping veg stems & bashing pasta bit.
Instant hit with family with minor modifications: 1/2 rutabaga root + cup of diced kabocha squash replaced beans ond portion of pasta, for the remainder of pasta we used rice-quinoa pasta with the same magnificent result. very pleased, thank you Jamie
This is one of the reasons I love Jamie's recipes. With most recipes you see you'd think you need to buy a special pasta or some particular variety of bean. Jamie? Just bash up your leftovers and use whatever beans and veggies you've got. Still tastes good.
Hi Jamie. I holler all the way from the Philippines. I love what you and your team do. Thank you for being committed in making delicious, healthy food. I think at the end of the day, you just want people to be happy and healthy. Food is the medium you chose to express your love for people. I know it's what you do best. But I think taking care of people you don't even know is your gift. I used to watch your shows in TV even when RUclips wasn't a thing yet. You were always kind and thoughtful. God bless you and your beautiful family! I already miss your travels and sharings. When this whole corona virus thing blows over, I look forward to your food and travel vlogs. More power to you, your family, and your professional team. Thank you!
I love minestrone! My mother lives in Italy and I know the recipe from her! Simply love it! So healthy and delicious! Thank you for your inspiration, Jamie! Take care and stay safe! ❤️
Another commentator called it, in a positive way, poor man's soup. I love these dishes from France, Portugal, Italy and Spain. My wife is Spanish and we eat this sort of thing. Great food that does not have to be expensive. If only people could learn to cook.
Makes me feel comforted through woods and waves. 🙂 I love seeing Jamie use the ribs of the Kale. I've been trying to waste as little as possible for a while now and have been experimenting with cooking parts of produce that is usually advised to be discarded.
Holy_Mess, good for you! The tops of most root veg are edible. We have gotten "lazy", IMO, and throw away a lot of parts that people used to eat. Beet root greens, radish greens, the white rind of watermelon, are all very healthy for us. Before I throw something away, I do a quick google search to see if it is edible and get ideas on how to cook it. Keep experimenting and learning. Blesings.
Having binge watched so many of Jamie’s videos (who doesn’t binge watch these days?), I am reminded as to why I loved him initially in “The Naked Chef”. His enthusiasm for his craft is infectious. Plus he does not put on airs as a “chef”. He makes the effort to show how to reduce waste in the kitchen and how to use what is on hand to produce wholesome food. Kudos, Jamie!
A long time ago I complained that you were talking too fast Jamie, and today I just wanted to first apologize for that if it caused any negative emotion especially if you just want to be enthusiastic and passionate, and second I note your calmness in this video is subjectively to me today: perfect. Very therapeutic and natural as I stand nearby. Very optimal technique exposition. Very beautiful content :) Thanks for your continual good work out there.
@@cloudedcolour5329 the comment said this was a vegetarian dish, but it is bacon in it. You could take it out and make it, but that is for all dishes isn't it
Josephine Paraiso Viernes home made minestrone is a firm favourite in this house. My husband is a vegetarian so it’s a really lovely way to use any veggies passing their best. My only essentials are onions , other than that, pretty much anything goes. I like a handful of small pasta, I buy the soup pasta normally, but as we know life is not normal right now. I occasionally throw a couple of handfuls of lentils in for the last hour, instead of pasta.. My adult daughter loves making her own version too, she says she can feed a hungry family of four for under £2.00
I'm an avid follower of Jamie Oliver and Gennaro Contaldo plus the great Antonio Carluccio too. I regularly try these recipes. So simple and delicious. It not only passes the time in these difficult times for everyone, but it certainly produces wonderful food.
I shall be making this tomorrow and using up a swede that I was wondering how to use. Thanks for the inspo Jamie! And keep the vids coming - love them ❤️ Stay safe xx
That looks delish,I must try this version,Ive never made it with bacon,I usually brown shortcut beef ribs then add everything else in order of the time they need to cook.and I peel some fresh tomatoes after dunking in hot water & break them up into it.or I just make a vegetarian version minus the meat& add a good stock cube.
I love watching Jamies videos! such a great guy! Its so good to watch, he just such a great teacher and cares about what he does. I am a chef too and love cooking, worked with some really great chefs. Also this is what made me to start my own food RUclips channel so i can show the world my cooking skills and also up skill myself too. Hopefully i can take my skills to his level one day!
Great recipe. I will need to try this one. I love your soups. I made video of you tomato soup I found in your recipe book 10 years ago. We have it on regular basis. My kids love it. And the video is doing well too. Thanks for the recipe!
Turned out amazing, I pretty much added all the veggies I had, zucchini and spinach instead of kale(wish I had kale too but it’s ok) and also added some red potatoes, parsley, green beans, bell pepper. Turned out so beautiful and delicious and healthy which is so important during staying home so much. 😊 thank you again for the recipe and the motivation. God bless!
What a great recipe, i used chopped chorizo and pancetta for base, Chopped spinach and Black beans instead it was gorgeous with olive bread and some parmesan
OMG, this soup is amazing. I made it tonight for dinner and it was so good. Thank you for the video too. Your easy style of cooking made me confident that I could make this. Thanks again.
Great series this, getting loads of tips as well as great meals. Made the risotto ( with pudding rice) didn't doubt that it would work, but clever just the same. Pizza with self raising flour got 4 filling portions out of that, great topping, even though we only had bacon. Thankyou Jamie
Thanks for the recipe Jamie, I did it and it was awesome, even though it’s not the classical version, still had a very Italian flavour to it, which I absolutely loved. I’ll definitely keep making it!
Hey Jamie, stay home and stay safe and by the way how is our lovely Gennaro, send him and all my Italian brothers and sisters lots of love. STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE 🙏🇮🇳
Thank you georgeous Jamie easy amazing recepie ....you are the best in the world huge respect &, luv to you and your family god bless you my darling xxo
I must admit I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge of cooking whilst still trying to lose weight, cater for a child with allegies and lack of essentials to hand - yet again you have stepped up to the plate and delivered. You are definitely my turn to for ideas. Keep up the good work xx
you dont even need to use stock. just plain water is fine. The vegetables you add in are already a base of a good veg stock and the umami from the tomatoes brings out the richness in the soup.

This is the best minestrone soup I’ve ever tasted!!! Congrats once again to the one & only Jamie Oliver!!!
Keep Cooking and Carry On is a gift to this planet during the pandemic. It’s a ray of sunshine. Thanks, Jamie & team!

He cares about his bank balance and little else
Perfectly seasoned and velvety smooth to the pallate. Delicious and so quick and easy.

Thank you for showing us lovely dishes it's a great time to brush up on cooking! Can't wait to try this myself.
I just made this and it was sooo good! I swapped the bacon for vegan bacon and added a red chili! Lovely
Simple and delicious looking. Thank you chef you make everything simple.

What? Oliver's not fit to wash their dishes. He was only ever a vegetable chopper.
Oh wow Thanks so much for this! I loove using up my kibbles and bits LOL but run out of ideas what to do with it!

This is delicious. It’s easy and makes a lot, which was great for quarantine.
Boy, I feel hungry now. Got to make this later. Thanks, Jamie, brilliant. Love the trick with bashing the pasta. Why didn’t I think of that?
I make this all the time with bits and bobs of leftover veggies! Cheap and healthy for a hearty lunch :-D
Just made this yesterday and it was delicious!! Only difference is, I added double the pasta and used pak choi instead of kale.
That soup looks so yummy! A good soup is always needed. Great video!
in north of italy inside the minestrone we put some soft cheese like "formaggino mio" :D
That looks heavenly!
Thanks for the recipe Jamie, I did it and it was awesome, even though it’s not the classical version, still had a very Italian flavour to it, which I absolutely loved. I’ll definitely keep making it!

I want to try this soup recipe during this quarantine time.
I made this today it was delicious 🙂
It's great for quarantine because you can use canned vegetables, beans and tomatoes, stock cube, pasta, all things from your cupboard :)
I love making all kinds of soup and it’s been great knowing that they’re healthy and fairly inexpensive to make!
Wow, I think I can actually taste this with you , thank you, thank you, thank you 👍❤️😊
I've learn a lot to you .thank you Jamie & I've also been visited to your resto in London.
Love you so much from Greece ❤️

Delicious! Thank you!
This most have an accompanying piece of home made bread. Lucky you put out that soda bead video.

you can also throw in the rind of parmesan into this to add flavour and use up what would normally be thrown away!
You advice is wasted on this non chef. He was only trained as a vegetable chopper.
I made a variation of this and it was delicious, thanks for the tips Jamie! :)
Love Jamie!! I’m inspired! I’m making this dish now. 😌
I love this. Thank you❤️
Oh Id do just about do anything for a bowl of that soup. 🌿🌹🌿
you dont even need to use stock. just plain water is fine. The vegetables you add in are already a base of a good veg stock and the umami from the tomatoes brings out the richness in the soup.
Water is of course always fine, but for depth of flavor stock is always preferred (and used by chefs and top restaurants).
Me gusta mucho tu' cocina, hace años que te sigo
Hi Jamie, what could I do to make this vegetarian? Maybe dried mushrooms instead of bacon? Love your work x
U can skip the bacon's
Just add a bit extra olive oli.
Don't use the bacon and use more olive oil, and if you want some smokiness use smoked paprika or chipotle chili powder.
Thank you soooo much Jamie nice one lad 😘 helps take ones mind of thing’s.
Give em a ruddy good bangin! - Absolutely classic JO, love it!
