Interesting. I played at Renaissance release some upon inital release. Enough to get to know basics and bit more. Loads of skill grinding. Then on some on Renaissance-like free shard that must've been 15-20 years ago or something, and there I played way more with different characters and skills I hadn't really leveled up before. I think it was Renaissance clone/alike. Really close to the official early UO. Lately I've been kind of interested to return for more UO somewhere. Renaissance is the release (with old 2D client), that catches my interest, but free shards don't offer that option too much that I've found, or have rather low playerbase. I'm sure actual official UO has progressed so deep it makes no sense start there and expect to have old-style Renaissance experience from early 2000s with similar chances to progress (obtain property and level up chars etc.). So I might be leaning to try out UO Outlands, after all, even though it doesn't provide the copy of the old world i have fond memories of. Outlands still looks enticing. Wish I started earlier when it was newer, though. But oh well. I have fun memories of animal tamer/mage doing dungeons stuff alot, even solo. And I did go though pain of leveling up rogue/thief type... never did actually use it so much before quitting. Did alot crafting stuff, some fishing adventures, mining etc. But it's been so damn long I hardly remember all the mechanics of gameplay/creating hotkeys/character skill templates and so on, lol. And that's for the part of official UO:R. Outlands system from few bits on this video seemed more complex than that. Either, or I've forgotten alot of what was in the original UO:R. But Outlands look good. Might give it a shot.
Pretty nuts to see how well it's doing a whopping 6 years into it. I would argue the fact that raw materials keep increasing in price is a great thing for new players who can make a TON of money super fast with basic mining or lumberjacking and jump straight into their codex/aspect purchase ridiculously faster than if they tried to farm for it as a fresh player.
😄 its very wild hearing to crowded as being a complaint.. right?! 😄 As a suggestion though... lots of great wilderness spawns with wildlands now. Ill have a video soon over some
I wish they'd pay attention to the little details like bank signs saying "Bank of Andaria" instead of just "Bank". It's fun if you are chasing nostalgia and you enjoy grinding the same monsters in the same dungeon just to have more damage against the same monsters in the same dungeon. I tried for 6 months and realized it's more of a compulsive disorder than it is enjoyable.
@@cabbage265 yeah, I would not enjoy this game if all I did was farm in a dungeon. Idk if your still around, but there is way more things to do in the game than just that. Is it too late to play Ultima Online Outlands? It was really, really late. All real estate is occupied by existing users, and the dungeon is overflowing with griefers. If you must do this shard it will be a thorny path of pain and patience.
The server is very popular. Yeah no more spots for real estate. Thankfully the inn system is op. More storage, a guarded entrance, for less $. Also if you take a break you won't lose your things due to idoc. On the point of griefers... I think saying overflowing is quiet extreme. On the flip side. This is a fel ruleset server. You are correct. You might check out uoalive. They are pve only and low enough population you can place a house rather than buy one from another player.
The number of users playing and the attractive and unique system make it worth playing. However, you should not think that you can enjoy the game fairly with existing users. This may be similar to other MMORPGs, but the differences are too drastic. Despite the very negative comments, I appreciate your objective reply and I am getting a lot of information from your channel. However, for the same reason as the first comment, the idea that you can easily enjoy the game on this shard should be abandoned, and the management team will have to put a lot of thought into attracting new users.
Simple answer no. The Economy is Driven by the Players, but it is also Regulated. You can be the richest person on it, but still would have to abide by the rules which also is mostly player driven. So unlike Guild Wars 2, WoW and similar MMOs there is an agreed price for goods and services. So unless something happens to the core of the player base to change this, new and old from newbie to veteran, will be able to support each other.
i wanted to try outlands but the skill/game mechanics have so little in common with ultima online, i could not get myself to invest so much time to understand it.
Yes it is because some guilds get take everything and dont share i.e. syn and face. On the other hand pks all time kill you they dont care you carry valuable item or not. You can play if you enjoy hardcore playing. Server management is nice and they are try hard for player care.
I don't understand the syn/face comment. 😆 everything is generated by self/guild. If you mean contested spawns, just participate.. people win them from us in syn time to time. Other than that, I'm not sure what you mean. Feel free to elaborate so I can better understand.
@@NiemandBauer lots of differences. Ultima online is far from "the original" but can be found www.uo.com Ultima online Outlands can be found Www.uooutlands.com
As a original target in UO in 1997 I have to say I'm glad private servers are doing well. I wish they wouldn't snipe at each other and try to hinder their function but still it's good to see. I wasn't a fan of pvp but at least in the original UO there was a reason for non pvp and pvp to exist with the majority being non. And while I did tire of the 6 on 1 ambushes and the loss of all gear it did add spice to the game. Trammel came along and I thought I got my wish only to get bored quickly. That being said. Most pvp in games today are mostly people who get a thrill out of ruining someone elses's day and that just turns the game into a free for all. You kill me and I kill you back. Find a way to bring that missing 90% of non pvp folks that want to play despite the murderers and you have gold in my book. I'll stay where I am where I can avoid those that 'need' to affect others.
I started playing in 1997. It’s an addiction. Had up to 5 accounts going. Taming dragons was so cool. Then hackers ruined the game. They started selling hacked gold on EBay. They would duplicate high valued weapons. Then the mods sued UO because they weren’t paid. They were given free accounts and special privileges. UO lost the suit and had to pay the mods back pay. Killed the game.
Great video, but all pvm progression is NOT null and void in pvp! Mastery chain damage mitigations is till a factor in pvp, people with links are at a great advantage, as well as some aspect having pvp active traits and some not.
@@PwnstarrGaming The saddest part is how much potential it has. I know several dudes who stopped playing MO2 in favor of Outlands and I can't say I blame them 😂
@@oisheokay i hear great things about it. But honestly I'm just having a lot of fun here on Outlands currently. Such a large and great community with constant updates. But I always recommend uoalive for people looking for a pvm only experience!
Been playing for almost exactly 2 months. The stuff you mentioned works great on paper , but in reality it is much more difficult. new players are seriously gimped power wise. Kill stealing forces new players to hunt terrible areas, widening the wealth/ power gap even more, as a much slower gold farm and drop rate. Plus pks focus on those areas as easy kills. Tracking doesn’t help that much, and fighting close to a moongate , well becomes who can do the most dps the fastest. New players typically will loose that fight making it easier to get pk’d. Scavenging may have been great at one point but that is over populated along with lock picking and skinning. Don’t believe me. Start a new character and only fund his development with what you earn. Skill scrolls/ skill balls/ cores/ etc. there is so much money you need to even become remotely useful in farming. All the while getting pk’d over and over, and being push out of farming spots. Let’s not even talk about societies. 😂.
@alanlee43011 mostly on the weekends. It's like any other game. You will never be able to compete with the end game players in terms of how fast you can get things done but you can still get plenty done.
@@alanlee43011 jaseown is doing that on his stream and he progressed fairly quick and hes not the smartest player IMO. Hes not even using the top strat to earn gold early on which are not really hard to figure out if you look for it. Right now, you mine 1 iron commodity while you train your dude overnight and you can afford all you need. Then all you do is grind exp in all your codexes and raise your aspects. Getting pked is a learning phase. Used to get pked often but it was because I didnt really know what to do. You have to get pked to adapt and find out how to survive.
Ok yes and no. First tailoring i just gmd in 2 days. You can do it w just scavanging. Thats 400k every month in money. And then u do it on 2 accs thats 800k monthly income. Second u gotta join a guild it makes it a lot easier to get things cheaper/ more things. Kill stealing happens yes Best tip i have is dont play when americans are awake. Totally different game
Economy is trash, players are toxic, housing does NOT exist. I sold my account with the rarest hues and gear for 600usd to some cash whale a year ago i met on another server who mentioned mentioned he played outlands. Glad i cashed out finally.
It seems most disagree as outlands continues to grow more and more. glad you got out of something you weren't enjoying. it seems you found a new home which is great. UO is great in all its forms, no matter the server your playing! Keep that name going baby!! appreciate you still watching my videos too!
Great server in most aspects best uo server thus far I have played, It does fail in few areas. Manly lotto/raffles and economy are whacked. The thing to avoid the raffles/lotto they are total scam. If you cant blow 10-20 million gold on raffle tickets you will lose. I can tell you as casual player buying 50-300 ticket per raffle for 2 years total waste of money never won anything. Players are buying 15,000+ tickets in single raffle it has become a who is the richest whale on outlands raffle. The entire lotto process is designed to let the mega whales destroy as much gold as possible due to the super inflated economy on outlands and maybe get a cool unique cosmetic item to brag about to the other whales. O-look at my new fancy pants i won only cost me 15,000,000 gold...😆🤣🤣
Seems like alot of these negative comments are just by players fed up with things that should be expected when playing an old-school UO ruleset let alone a giant server that properly makes the game feel like a living breathing world as it should be. Overpopulation is a genuine complaint for the dungeons but given how successful hybrid was for well over a decade despite its INSANE staff corruption and even worse PK griefing, tells me outlands will be here to stay as long as the staff don't pull any super bastardizing changes. Though something should probably be done about how hard it can be to contest dungeon spawns since it's incredibly frustrating to deal with that and PKs at the same time. People have the ability to work around almost all of these complaints I've been seeing though, people should be expected to sink time into an rpg let alone an MMO, my fear would be the staff catering to these people and making it TOO casual and unrewarding to those putting in the time. Real estate is always gonna be saught after, so people should expect a house to be a big goal to work towards and save up for, its not impossible by any means.
Have you played Outlands??? Outside of farming there is... Town Struggles, Dungeon Flashpoints, Corpse Creek Contest, Stygian Rifts, Arena, Contested Bosses, Factions, Thieving, Ocean Content both pvm and pvp, fishing, tmapping, lockpicking, gathering/crafting, plat growing, mount breeding, brewing, casino for poker and slots, bomberman, monthly staff events, community events, deco and char cosmetics as you mentioned, and of course bank sitting! ...otherwise yeah, its the mmorpg genre. killing monsters and cosmetics ;p
I'm gonna say this as a guy who has been playing for a few years, the game used to be way more chill when there were fewer players. Now every spawn in every dungeon is a contest
Just stay out of the exp dungeon. Its often I can get far more exp in a less farmed dungeon like Petram/ darkmire than the favorites or exp dungeon. Also.. don't forget there are tons of wilderness locations. Some of the new ones in wildlands rival kraul 3 farming easily. You being a veteran know this I'm sure. But yeah. I guess things would be more "chill" with less players 😄 tis a popular game i guess
People who think Outlands is dying are traumatized by other shards. Around the 6th year mark, a lot of shards start to decline HARD, especially those of a specific expansion (like T2A). I think Outlands will experience the start of the decline on the 8th year mark. Unless they just outright shut down.
I used to love UO, but once it went to PvP I lost interest in it because you had to join a guild or lose everything you have to a group 12yrs old. I like going hunting on my own or sometimes with a friend, not having to worry about this PvP stuff, I get it you guys like it's okay. Maybe if I was younger I would like it. Enjoy the game guys I know I used to.
@@lazyhydroponicsandstuff3682 oh I played, but back then PvP was in it's own shard, there was only one place, but it's cool, you guys like what you got, but thanks for attacking me and questioning my character by assuming I lied. I didn't attack anyone's character.
You might enjoy UOALIVE. Its pve only and plenty of room for housing. You are right in the fact this is a Felucia ruleset. Pretty early on though things get where dying to a pk really is more of an annoyance and loss of 2 minutes to restock.
Join a guild and they can keep you safe, if you get a runebook you can teleport away from pks (in dungeons you have to run to gates) tracking is a midly underrated skill because not only does it consistently track and display what direction they are in but it also comes with some kind of damage boost so it's not a wasted skill at all. I've escaped countless PKs with this skill. I'm a bit of a noob and I've learned to take great pleasure in the risk of the game and I am honestly never PKd and sometimes PKs walk right by me to go into lower level dungeons where the real loot is for them. Urkton has guards and is a relatively safe dungeon. Most gear is cheap so only bring your basic stuff when you go out and make sure to stash your stuff with cool modifiers at an inn or bank. Players are nicer than you'd think, I hope you'll consider coming back and joining a guild to do dungeon runs :-)
I like to think of it like nature IRL. if we have no wolves or other predators, entire ecosystems would be negatively affected. without the ability to lose items, a server gets bloated and players become very sedentary and there is not as much care put into actually playing the game. The game becomes more about socializing than actually playing the game. Many games have come and gone since Trammel UO was implemented, and all of those games had relatively the same life span. The good thing about outlands is that it is easy to just get geared back up because the main source of your power is your aspect.
It's a quality game. You may not like it, but newer players want a gfx upgrade including myself. We've been playing shit like this for 25 years or more. People who say gfx don't matter for immersion are people who tend to fail at running an MMO. Just imagine if a newer version existed that didn't scam people and wasn't made by the same scammer who created shrouds. Maybe then, you would have a gfx overhaul and Ultima Online 2 would have over 100,000 daily active players. But, here we are, og players trying to market for a company that could be running the show a lot better and support two versions, which would give more budget for Ultima Online. Did I forget to mention, they don't have budget for marketing and instead rely on you? (Another sign of poor business decisions)
You quite literally just outed yourself as not watching the video. You don't know the difference between a free private server ( the content in the video ) and OSI ( the original currently pay to play version ). Pwnstarr and others are OG players marketing for a FREE TO PLAY server because we enjoy it. Your comment is NOT in good faith. To your point about GFX. They matter, but people who want a real MMO don't hold GFX on a pedestal. Community and agency/freedom to play how you wish is key. No other MMO's offer that these days.
This is a really well thought out and long comment you obviously put a lot of work in. Thank you for adding your thoughts. I'm not sure what this has to do with the video though.
Yeah.. its really wild. You might think they (the staff) would burn out or slow down. But it's the opposite.
I’ve been mining and jacking till I get a load full… oh wait!
Naw, I’m working blacksmith and you can make good cash mining. Just be careful
Outlands is a great quality game. The only beef i have is that the dungeons are more crowded than the towns
😄 its very wild hearing to crowded as being a complaint.. right?! 😄
As a suggestion though... lots of great wilderness spawns with wildlands now. Ill have a video soon over some
I wish they'd pay attention to the little details like bank signs saying "Bank of Andaria" instead of just "Bank". I played a shard called Imagine nation and their Armours and custom towns were beautiful like outlands. The Armour colors were amazing. There's a video on youtube
m.ruclips.net/video/psbMb4T9q_o/видео.html
It's fun if you are chasing nostalgia and you enjoy grinding the same monsters in the same dungeon just to have more damage against the same monsters in the same dungeon. I tried for 6 months and realized it's more of a compulsive disorder than it is enjoyable.
@@cabbage265 yeah, I would not enjoy this game if all I did was farm in a dungeon.
Idk if your still around, but there is way more things to do in the game than just that. Boating, community events, staff events, pking, arenas, thieving, inn/house deco, pvp events like town struggle, dungeon Flashpoint, corpse creek, stygian abyss, also time dungeon is amazing group play content with some in depth quests and a d&d style expedition dungeon crawl .
👍👍👍👍👍
Do you know where the server is hosted? I'd like to give it a crack although being an Aussie I tend to have very bad ping...
I don't know. But... lots of aussies playing!

I feel like some people have written guides in the discord of how to play on a mac. I'd check in #client-support in the outlands discord of how.

We play games like D&D with 4-5 people over months or years.
Is there stay afk rewards in Outlands?
I don't even know what that is. So I'm gonna guess no.
Can you elaborate what you mean by afk rewards ?
@@PwnstarrGaming It is that you get coin for online time so people leave their chars afk. Servers use it to bump up online numbers :)
Gotcha, no there isn't any rewards for being online on Outlands.
They need to make a tutorial in my opinion

Yeah retail is a mess it seems.
We play on Www.uooutlands.com been around 6 years now
Great video, but all pvm progression is NOT null and void in pvp! Mastery chain damage mitigations is till a factor in pvp, people with links are at a great advantage, as well as some aspect having pvp active traits and some not.

Because official server is ultima offline
Hey Shin 👋
Right now I'm enjoying outlands.
Are you excited for new legacy?
Farmed 5 mil in gold alone. Have two houses and 3 aspects at tier 10 playing solo. It's not that hard.
Right and how many hrs a day are you playing?
Kill stealing happens yes
Best tip i have is dont play when americans are awake. Totally different game
There is no reason to play any other uo server. For me its Outlands or no UO.
I do love me some Outlands!

Its too late for the noobz, im strong enough now to loot all theur gold.

Town Struggles, Dungeon Flashpoints, Corpse Creek Contest, Stygian Rifts, Arena, Contested Bosses, Factions, Thieving, Ocean Content both pvm and pvp, fishing, tmapping, lockpicking, gathering/crafting, plat growing, mount breeding, brewing, casino for poker and slots, bomberman, monthly staff events, community events, deco and char cosmetics as you mentioned, and of course bank sitting!
...otherwise yeah, its the mmorpg genre. killing monsters and cosmetics ;p
This game is so sad that
remains totally broken, from what I saw the mage is GOD.😂
Ehhh . Feel free to elaborate your point further
I'm gonna say this as a guy who has been playing for a few years, the game used to be way more chill when there were fewer players. Now every spawn in every dungeon is a contest
ehhhh
HOPEFULLY MUCH LONGER THAN THAT!
I don't like PvP, I wish it was like it was back in 2004/2005.
You might stick with sanctuary dungeon then. No thieves, no pks.
They seem to be doing great so far
You quite literally just outed yourself as not watching the video. You don't know the difference between a free private server ( the content in the video ) and OSI ( the original currently pay to play version ).
Pwnstarr and others are OG players marketing for a FREE TO PLAY server because we enjoy it.
Your comment is NOT in good faith.
To your point about GFX. They matter, but people who want a real MMO don't hold GFX on a pedestal. Community and agency/freedom to play how you wish is key. No other MMO's offer that these days.
Go play UO Second age shard. Then come back and look at outlands it has had a graphical upgrade
This is a really well thought out and long comment you obviously put a lot of work in. Thank you for adding your thoughts.
I'm not sure what this has to do with the video though. Maybe might make a good idea for a different video..? When that time comes can you copy paste this comment there so it fits w the video?
