Playing Ks4s / 10d4d because they are suited and looks "less ugly" can be fun when the flush draw appears, and more fun when you get there (only 11% advantage increase for suited in NLTH). That 88 vs. AK hand was pretty questionable. You were last to act after your initial raise and his re-pop, which means your range could still be heavily weighted toward premium hands like AK, AA, KK, and QQ, especially since you were essentially isolated. Calling in that spot with a number of premium hands seems straightforward because it’s pretty easy to trap there. Beyond that, your range could also include suited broadway hands like KQ or KJ, which you could easily call back with in that situation. For him to make that call on the river, he would have had to disregard all those strong possibilities and assume you were only holding a small suited connector-which seems like a massive oversight. Even J10 or 10/9 is possible. I don’t know man, in that situation, unless he got a soul read on you, there was enough information there to find a fold.
