Quando si pensa a Roma tutti hanno in mente l'immagine del Colosseo, quando invece il vero centro dell'interesse dei Romani era il Circo Massimo, perchè erano le corse dei cavalli lo spettacolo preferito dei cittadini di allora.
I wonder ,what type of people are those who disliked ???? I guess though, they must be either blindly jealous or extremely ignorant.

actually, if you ve been there, the circus looks farrrrr longer than this. is like quarter MILES long. totally gigantic. this rendition makes it look like a modern football stadium. No way. like ten football court feet into the arena of the Circus. you got to see it to believe the size of it

Impresionante, sobre todo los caballos blancos, transmiten ternura, nobleza, inteligencia y a la vez la belleza y el talante de los pura sangre, :Antares, Rigel, Aldair y el más rápido de los 36 caballos que participaron, Aldebaran. Es la escena más auténtica de la película, no me canso de verla.Y TU, ANTARES, SERÁS NUESTRO ANCLA, así hablo Charlton Heston a sus caballos. Y TU ALDEBARAN, NO QUIERAS GANAR LA CARRERA TU SÓLO, ESPERA A TUS HERMANOS.

Non è una ricostruzione esatta, manca il pulvinar, il palco riservato agli imperatori.
Why it was not preserved?
Like many of Rome's ancient structures, I suspect after the city's sacking, it fell into disrepair and its material was robbed by the church to construct other catholic buildings.
fascinating stuff, I do dioramas of roman ruins.

The soroundings (at least) are not well represented. Rome was not a flat plane city. Even in the republican period, the Palatine hill dominated the eastern side of the view from the Circus Maximus.
