Donna had a loving, caring soul. Often, setting aside herself to be there for others who needed her. I was one of those people. She wanted to be remembered as a woman of faith, and she was. She had a lot of faith, and she knew her mission in this life was to love people, everyone, unconditionally. She never spoke unkindly about anyone, not ever. If someone said something bad about another person, Donna would say something nice, if they continued, she would try to change the subject, and if that didn't work, she would excuse herself and leave. When people told her of their problems, she really did pray for them. I think the love and faith in Donna and her sisters comes from their sweet Mother. Donna is at peace and surrounded with her Mom, Dad, Sister, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. She does sing where she is, but she doesn't sing her songs from this life. What she sings now is beyond temporal understanding, but her voice stands out, it still can be heard over a choir, and her voice can bend the universe. When people who love her listen to her music, she is sometimes aware of it and she feels what they are feeling for a moment. Sadly, I always say that if you have never heard Donna Summer sing LIVE and in PERSON, then you haven't heard her sing. Her powerful voice doesn't exactly transfer across in recordings as it did live. At a show in San Diego, Ca, she slowly lowered her microphone to the floor when holding out a big, high, long note - as the mic was lowering, her voice was fading from the sound system, and by the time the mic was on the floor, her voice was no longer coming through the speakers, yet her voice FILLED that theater. When she let go of the note, she straightened up, opened her eyes, and looked around the room, startled, afraid maybe... it was dead silent in the theater. You could have heard a pin drop. It seemed like a minute went by before someone started to clap. Then a few other people joined in, then the entire theater roared with cheers, whistles, clapping, people sending love and adoration to her. It was almost overwhelming. I turned to my friend and I asked her, "Did she do what I think she just did? Is this real?" And my friend said, "Yes, her voice filled this theater without using the sound system." I looked around, people were crying. I was searching my brain trying to wrap my head around the events - I knew it felt spiritual, suspended, floating. It was as if she made time stand still for a moment, just because she could. Out of the countless number of times I have seen her in concert and at other performances for charity and TV interview shows like the Tonight Show- that was one of the most moving performances for me. After the show, I stood between two of the exits and I listened as people exited at the end of the evening. MOST of them were talking about that note.
Donna wrote this song because she was inspired when she was in a Los Angeles restaurant with her Manager. They went to use the Ladies Room and Donna saw the bathroom attendant just sitting there, staring toward a little TV on the sink but was nodding in and out of sleep. Donna said to herself...Wow, she works hard for the money. Right after she said that, she felt a surge come over her because she knew that would be an instant hit. She began writing this song there in the bathroom. In the first verse, Donna uses the woman's name....Onetta there in the corner stands and she wonders where she is. The lady is also pictured with Donna on this album's back cover. Just a fun fact :)
Donna Summer The Queen 👑 thnx for reacting to her. State of Independence is a Giant Song. I was lucky enough to meet her twice. Once in an elevator. She was more than awesome. She deserves to be heard , thnx 💜💜💜👑👑👑
Angela, there are comments about the similarities - hair, the personality style... it's all meant as a compliment because Donna was TOP for those of us who enjoyed her years.
My suggestions for Donna Summer - Bad Girls and Hot Stuff. Yep, me at 16 spending my money on her music and turning it up real loud on my car cassette deck 😊
Wow Angela! You really have good music taste when you played Donna Summer hit song Your Mom being a single mother mentioned by you, would be Proud of you too Any Irene Cara song from "Flashdance" should be IN your list too!!
Love yours beautiful spirit, its luminait my heart. Please react to - Roberta flack - the first time I saw your face. You will love it. A lot of love from Israel.🌷🌷🌷
A well planned drum groove from the drummer. Very consistent high hat sound throughout the entire song... except for bridge. That makes it catchy for me.
Kudos to your Mom! Btw, you would have fit right in in the 80s. 😃 I love Donna - she’s from Boston where I’ve been living for a long time. A couple really good deep cuts from her are “I Don’t Wanna Get Hurt” and “The Only One”. Also, as someone else mentioned “This Time I Know It’s for Real”.
Get it? Time rob her freedom. Film depict her freedom as a balerina. Note that all instrument played their energentic parts. Lifting with energy even though life is hard.
Her most important song--because the production basically created 80s dance music--was "I Feel Love." But her song "Love to Love You Baby" is the single sleaziest song every to make it into the top 10--hard to believe that she got away with it.
Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul, Elvis is the King of Rock-N-Roll, Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, and Donna Summer is the Queen of Disco. They are all music legends and royalty and will forever have their titles... Except I think Dolly Parton has taken the crown for Country Music from Loretta Lynn; but, much to the chagrin of Patti La Belle who desperately wanted to connect with Aretha Franklin, but Aretha couldn't stand her. Speaking of Aretha, her corpse had THREE costume changes for the three different memorial/funeral services her body attended. Yes, Aretha Franklin's dead body changed costumes before burial.
Quincy Jones produced this album “Donna Summer” album produced a couple of top 10 hits this was the first release Loves in Control She was also pregnant while she produced this album and if you look at the costuming they are hiding her bump ruclips.net/video/coZYG4uXVFo/видео.html
@Theinsider1 I’m quite aware of that I was asking her to react the Loves in control song/video that appears on the “Donna Summer” album that Quincy Jones produce that’s why I put the link that’s underneath my comment . That’s why I put quotations on her name “Donna Summer “ so you know it’s an album. SMH
Try Alannah Miles, Love Is, Black Velvet, Lover of Mine. Reba McEntire, The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia, Fancy, Is There Life Out There, The Greatest Man I Never Knew Garth Brooks (you have to do clips of his live shows or you only get covers not him) The Dance, The River, Standing Outside the Fire, Unanswered Prayers
This was the very first video by a black female artist played in heavy rotation on MTV (1983)
Last Dance and McCarther Park, anything Donna Sang was awesome. Another GREAT voice.
Donna summer is so underrated and she was super cute !!
She is a LEGEND! Thank you for giving her her flowers. ❤
The Queen of Disco. So lovely, classy and talented.
This should have been her 5th number one pop hit being held back at #3 for 3 weeks in a row but it did make #1 on the R&B chart 💃🕺🎶
When I heard that Donna Summer passed away, I wept. She is up in heaven with my dad jamming to her old tunes. Love her music. May she RIP!

@@SWSimpson She was an incredible entertainer and she was so beautiful. My absolute favorite!
One of her best '80s dance songs is called This Time I Know it's For Real and the video is very fun. I really think that you'll like that one.
I echo this sentiment. 😁
Donna wrote this song. She saw a woman passed out from working multiple jobs. The ladies photo is actually on the back of the album cover
Onetta !

Angela is Gorgeous.
Angela, you are a beautiful woman! I hope you can find time to listen to Laura Branigan (especially "Gloria" (U.S. #2) and "Solitaire" (U.S. #7)).

Love to love you is an artistic expression of human nature.. Pushing the boundaries 🤔
A Bold statement of musical freedom's
