my thoughts on people complaining about sponsors and ads, I've been watching Joe for years, like many youtubers he used to do quite short to the point vids, he changed the game with these long vids, this video for example is close to 2 hrs of great content. If I'm watching Alaskan bushmen or whatever on Nat Geo channel, I'm getting an hour's worth of TV with multiple ads, over dramatisation etc, I have no say in the ads and the actual footage is close to 40 mins and have to pay a cable subscription here in the UK, Joe has no production team, he's putting out more interesting and more "real" content , the ads I can skip after 3 secs and some sponsorship - it's all free minus the cost of internet! I am not going to begrudge Joe anything considering the enjoyment and knowledge I get from his work, specially considering the travel he's doing, editing and thought he's putting into these vids.
Seriously, who gives a shit? These people would rather Joe refuse income, why? To spare them a minute or two of hearing about a sponsor - at the beginning of the video Joe spent a ton of time and effort making, that he provides to them for FREE? They'd rather he not get paid than to have to listen to a short ad for some product? Sorry, that's absurd. Joe shouldn't listen to those people. He's doing the right thing, and has nothing to apologize for.
As a Canadian when I hear fellow Canadian complaining about Winter I tell Them " well Do you prefer Giant mosquitos, rattlesnakes and fucking scorpions" and then, they change their Minds.
Donovan Goodwin Quite the opposite. Alcohol causes the peripheral blood vessels to dilate, resulting in the loss of body heat. It should be avoided in extreme cold conditions.
I am 50yrs old Joe and love watching all your videos. I'm not in great physical health but I'm still working and moving lol. I used to weigh 531 lbs I'm down to 300, still a long way to go. Watching your videos really gives people like me hope and the ambition to get out and do the things I used to. I'm pretty good but if I get down on the ground is where I have a hard time not to mention bending and can not squat down at all. I'm going though been thinking what I can do to make it easier on myself, like making a medium size stick to help brace my self while getting off the ground from sleeping or setting, making a wood bench tall enough I can set and stand up comfortably. I'm excited and hope you keep up what your doing. I'm going to video some of the things I'm going to do just to show others you have to stay active and keep trying. Thanks brother God bless you and your family.
OMG!!! Its a full length feature film!! This makes me happy. Ima pop some popcorn and snuggle in like I do for movies. I actually really like the longer videos. It shows more of what you really go through.
Just an idea from an old Montana mountain man who's "Been there, done that!". Gather your firewood and start a fire first then go to gathering building materials. A good fire can melt the snow and dry/warm the ground where you will sleep and then be moved, and with a fire you can continue building shelter after dark if necessary. Also, I saw you walk into a bunch of trees with a lot of low hanging, green branches and am a little curious as to why you did not take advantage of the ready made protection that they offer.
Great video, Joe and great scenery! I like the idea of a Walmart gear vid. Maybe you could explain the differences in the gear, depending on how much money you spend, and why you chose those items. For instance, spend $400 and talk about where you choose to spend less, where you spend more, and why. Also, talk about how buying gear on this budget could be used anytime. Maybe not just in the winter since I’m sure some people would need something universal when starting out with a kit. You’re channel is my favorite and I learn a lot. I also dig your vibe, man. Peace!

I love your channel so much! I have learned a lot from watching your videos. You have great personality and seem so grounded. Congrats to you and your wife on your pregnancy! One last thing, please don't start adding music to your scenic videos. That's one of the many reasons why I appreciate your channel so much. I love hearing the sound of nature as it is. Not with music playing over it. Keep doing you and creating great content!

When I was in boy scouts we went on a cold camping trip where it got down to 20°F and our scout leader gave all of us a big cup of hot chocolate and put a 1/4 stick of butter in each cup. He said it was to keep warm while sleeping because you're body will be working to digest all of the fat... It actually really helped keep us warmer.
get flour tortillas - not the flat ones like lefse, but plump ones - for your next camp grillout. the tortilla becomes your plate! and it soaks up all that steak and sausage juice. it is perfectly logical and perfectly delicious. just a tex-mex tip from a fat happy old hybrid cheesehead texan. blessing!
if you arent eating as savage as possible getting messy you arent booshin it but to be fair i like this idea because they pack small, light, its food, and it doubles as like you said a plate and able to absorb the juices and fats which is a great way to hold onto those few extra calories! not a neccessity but Good thinking! props from canada.
Wow, this just came up in my recommendation list because I was looking at reviews for the Victorinox Huntsman, and dude, you are awesome, I can't believe I only found you now, subscribed instantly. I'm learning so much stuff already. Learnt more in one video than in the past few years in scouts. Thanks a million, keep up the great work!
Congratulations on the good news about the new little ‘un’, as some say over here in the UK. My thoughts are with your wife and you and Emerald. I really enjoyed this vid. Canada is so beautiful. Thank you for camping out in such a snow storm and cold temps so we could watch this experience. More power to you!
@@josephallen19 I noticed the see thru while you were still opening it up and thought "this is not good", but you made it happen anyway. Great job. I love all your vids. $500 walmart camping hall for a 2 night winter camp. Not a single piece of gear you already have; from absolute scratch. If possible, even clothing. Now that my fellow Ontarian, is a challenge worth doing! Haha
I find that really expensive. I'd give you another challenge. Take those 100 Dollars and use it to buy stuff from ebay and amazon. Then get a mil surp sleeping bag which doesn't count against your 100 Dollar limit. I can recommend German Bundeswehr sleeping bags, don't know about others. Have used it for years and it's very comfy below freezing. With that amount of money you can expect the gear to be heavier and bulkier. 500 Dollars is luxury camping.
Joe Robinet I agree with paganshredhead about using things off amazon on eBay that way us who are inspired to do outdoorsy Bushcraft stuff can pinch a penny using amazon or such. Much love from Arkansas, keeping up with the robinets! Spin off of the Kardashian’s haha
Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family. Praying for health and safe delivery. I miss Scout. Tripper Is great too but obviously no Scout. Not yet anyway, maybe one day. I think your vids are the most real vids on YT. I love them.
Maybe you could do a $400 or $100 amazon challenge. More and more people buying from Amazon these days. Would be cool with the Wal-Mart video. Great content as usual!
Two things: I like how you talk through your decisions on-camera. Example: Deciding to move your poncho and then deciding to hang your tarp vertically. Great idea! Second: I am going to check my reflective blankets before I go out to make sure they are trustworthy.
Joe, I gotta say your videos are most entertaining and informative. I too am amazed by some of the bizarre comments that folks will make for no real reason. But the longer you live, the more you see how different people really are. No matter their location. Some people just like to "act up". I can't say that the older I get, the less amazed I am, actually just the opposite. By and large folks are just bizarre. Keep doing what your doing and know that a ton of people really enjoy your adventures. Otherwise we wouldn't spend hours watching you traipse through the woods to freeze your butt off and have a drink. Cheers to you my friend.
I really like the "challenges" and stuff like that, if you actually do the walmart thing you could film the shopping process like a vlog, I think that would be nice
Maybe a time lapse of how long it takes to gather wood? Add time in the corner? I think people underestimate the amount of time spent gathering wood. Great video! Thanks for all you do!
Jason you can tell the people that winter camp and those that don’t. I love winter camping and really can’t wait to get to work and relax after winter camping in a weekend. Lol it’s work but so much fun.

This is frankly one of your best videos, Joe. I've watched it almost a dozen times. Do more like this. Bare minimum gear in a harsh environment. All the best.
No scout did not die scout is just getting older so a lot of times in these environments he will leave him behind for scouts health. There is nothing wrong with scout he’s just older now so he don’t push the dog harder than he needs too.
Joe Robinet, Thanks for all your videos and your hard work. Me and my Wife watch you and it makes us very happy to see you enjoying your hobby. We are getting inspiration from you to live life the way you want too.
That is how a youtube video shoulde be. You are doing it with love not for money. The way you looking at to forest at 13:09 is a proof for it. I love ur channel
Great video as usual! You should talk to the demolition ranch/offtheranch guy Matt. He is building a whole facility for printing shirts and would be cool if he started doing all the good youtubers shirts.
Dont really know much about camping and survival skills but have to admit... that video there was simply brilliant 👏👏 Good banter aswell mate, nice 1!!
I have no attention span for anything these days that isn't mandatory but somehow sit through hours of one dude in the woods. Joe needs an award for that.
Joe, “She Don’t Use Jelly” is by The Flaming Lips. The Toadies are an awesome group too though, I can see why you mixed them up! Love your content btw!
To be true your just doin these kind of videos so God damn good.Normaly I just don't like product placements but your placements are just really true and fitting.keep up the good work
I saw how little gear you had and was worried you hadn’t brought beer! Was more then relieved when you pulled those two tasty brews out of your pocket!
This is by far my favorite video of yours. Second is the $10 challenge. I really enjoy the resourcefulness and clever use supplies in this style. More $25 (or small dollar amounts) or tiny/minimalist gear videos would be quite interesting. I feel like a lot could be accomplished with 4-6 working emergency blankets, a thick cheap tarp, rope, fire starter, cooking pot, knife, waist hatchet, and pocket/hand-powered chain saw. Or maybe see how you would survive with just what you can carry in your pockets/waist, and no backpack. Really old school, cheap, hobo, survival style stuff.
Greeting from Kyiv, Ukraine! There is one "Gear" that can really helps with delivery branches to base camp much more easier. You can always carry it with you when go outside due to light weight! To don't waste energy for collect branches - you can use simple rope to drag them. Make a loop and tie up branches together. If you have two large loges or more you can put them like a skid (sled) tie them and last branches put on the top. And drag it behind you. Obviously on winter its easi to drag it on the snow and ice, but on summer time this technique can be useful also!
Joe, when your fingers crack from dryness and the cold, use Vicks Vapour Rub. Take a cotton swap, dip it in the jar and cover the split fingertips with it. Then, cut a bit of food plastic wrap, then (wrap) your fingertips with it and it will heal, overnight. It can even be worn during daytime, under gloves. It soothes the pain. I really enjoy your videos!
Even though it’s “ training”, you’re out in the weather actually “doing it”. Survival is a state of mind. An Emergency is an unexpected incident. If you have EDC kit with you, that might be the only difference. You made do in a blizzard with minimal kit whether it was training or otherwise. Kudos on an eventful training. Look into Survival Russia’s Siberian Log fire. I tried it and it’s a great heat reflector in the winter. I chuckle since I carry almost the same kit you do (except I always carry a shovel in the winter). Great minds work alike. The clear Mylar blanket could have been used like a super shelter front and the reflector against the poncho. Congrats on the pregnancy, Daddy-O! SLED AND SHOVEL.
This video reminded me of when I played Minecraft. Digging into the trees and making your first survival shelter. I actually dream if doing that in real life!
I think he can survive... i mean he did survive 10 days with pretty minimal gear in an island somewhere in Canadian wilderness and he did pretty fine so... yeah
I like how long your videos are. It makes it so I can watch and listen to it while I sleep. I'm a big fan of survivalist shows and movies. I like how you don't take out the mistakes or mishaps. All the shows and movies make it seem easy. When it's really not.
Another really great vid as usual bud🤘 here's a tip for the cracked hands, I work outside and my thumbs get like that really bad so i feel your pain! Get some bag balm! U can get it many places and any like farm n feed store would surely have it. Comes in a green tin and is kinda like Vaseline but way better! At night rub your hands in it liberally before bed, and put on some thin cloth gloves. After a few nights youll be good as new! Then just do it once a week or so and you won't believe how great your hands will feel. So soft n crack free!! Thanks for all you do man, your a great guy and inspiration. Cheers🍻🍻 Rockett
Normally I absolutely hate winter camping. I keep saying if I go again it will be with a hot tent. But you've honestly changed my mind. I might try winter camping again. Thank you Joe.

Jason Finley thats a great idea, its hard to convey that....especislly trying to keep the footage intrresting
Jason you can tell the people that winter camp and those that don’t. I love winter camping and really can’t wait to get to work and relax after winter camping in a weekend. Lol it’s work but so much fun.
Idk how to comment.joe,u a beach lol.im kleetis n would like to go n teach u a thing r 2 lol.i was a boyscout n ur videos r nice 2 watch but would b betr w me lol.keep it up.9514225679
Congratulations on being a daddy again! Praying for a safe delivery. Love all your posts. I now look at the trees to see if you would use them to build shelters! My husband can't understand why I love your videos, but they fascinate me!
A new baby on the way...congratulations ! ! ! Sooo happy for you both.
Take care & stay safe always.
This is frankly one of your best videos, Joe. I've watched it almost a dozen times. Do more like this. Bare minimum gear in a harsh environment. All the best.
Would love to see a Walmart challenge video. Keep up the great videos Joe!!
Nooo. Donate 400 dollars to the homeless and do a challenge along the survival etc for them
Phooey on Walmart......your dollar store challenge was better and Walmart treat their staff like crap. Thumbs up for you though Joe.
15 minutes in and im already missing scout running around annoying you while you try to delimb the trees
I hear that...I'll get him out soon, maybe in a few videos from now
Nice. Love seeing Scooter, and he aint getting any younger right Joe? Bam Son T-shirt arrived...fits great...looks awesome.
did scout pass?
No scout did not die scout is just getting older so a lot of times in these environments he will leave him behind for scouts health. There is nothing wrong with scout he’s just older now so he don’t push the dog harder than he needs too.
True
Joe Robinet, Thanks for all your videos and your hard work. Me and my Wife watch you and it makes us very happy to see you enjoying your hobby. We are getting inspiration from you to live life the way you want too.
Gotta be up in 4 hours but im spending half of it watchin the new vid. Congrats on the new addition my friend.
Joe Momma thank you!
I’m all for adverts if joe and his family get paid for the hard work he does
Joe is really a genuinely nice guy.. his channel is starting to grow on me ..
That is how a youtube video shoulde be. You are doing it with love not for money. The way you looking at to forest at 13:09 is a proof for it. I love ur channel
Nice plugs bro! Getting paid! I enjoy honest advertising. Good job.
Jason Shackelford thanks 😀
Watching this in lock down, has inspired me to go out with my daughter to make a camp :)
A thrift shop gear camping video would be fun to see. I've purchased a fair amount of gear for camping and ice fishing at the Goodwill.
now were talking down and dirty cheap..i like this idea
Id like to see a totally primitive overnighter..
I'll back this! Great idea!
And bring us shopping with you. :)
I dont listen to stupid comments, and you know exactly what your doing. I admire your tough skin, personality and skills. Thank you Joe.
The only true 24 hour challenge
I have no attention span for anything these days that isn't mandatory but somehow sit through hours of one dude in the woods. Joe needs an award for that.
A 2 urr Joe video?! Noice. Glad to see you getting sponsors and such, get that money Joe.
Joe congratulations on the expanding family, you,re a lucky man
Joe, “She Don’t Use Jelly” is by The Flaming Lips. The Toadies are an awesome group too though, I can see why you mixed them up! Love your content btw!
I was scrolling for so long hoping someone pointed that out
By far my favourite Joe Robinet vlog! Hilarious, intelligent and ambitious. You deserve 1k+ subscribers.
Joe, it’s 11 at night, and your videos 2 hours long, the things I sacrifice for you, tsk tsk, anyway, thankful for an upload
Jake Margolin 😀👍
Thanks for the Fahrenheit conversions. Saves me from doing math in my head!
Yeah, me too. I have only a few memorized. 100C=212F, 0C=32F, and -40C=-40F. all others in my mind are only estimates.
Oh and congratulations on the new baby
I remember Fred Penner! A True Canadian Icon!
When I see a sharp guy your age forget where he buried his beer just a few hours earlier, I feel so good. You'll understand after you retire.
Oh yeah. Sometimes by the time I get out of my chair I can't remember why I got up.
As usual Joe, your videos are very entertaining! I really enjoy them and please keep them coming.
To be true your just doin these kind of videos so God damn good.Normaly I just don't like product placements but your placements are just really true and fitting.keep up the good work
stom1letsplay thank you very much, i try to be selective with the endorsements
Joe Robinet thats a good Setting just watch all your videos and I like just how you pullin the joe just perfect!!!
Great video Joe, congratulations on becoming a new father. You will do great. Mississippi Outpost over and out. 🙏
I saw how little gear you had and was worried you hadn’t brought beer! Was more then relieved when you pulled those two tasty brews out of your pocket!
I had the same thought 'oh no, no boose'. Then I was all excited when he got them out.
Pregnant?! Congratulations you two!!!
thanks! :)
My god man, I love ur attitude, "aren't we all just big kids" XD
I am loving that Lester River shirt! I bet they are worth every pretty penny they cost.
Really like your stuff God bless
Hope you're doing well
Joe, when your fingers crack from dryness and the cold, use Vicks Vapour Rub.
Someone around me had a campfire going and while I watched this, I had a faint smell of campfire in my room. Lol epic setting.
Joe you deserve every bit of support you get keep up the great work
Can we get a shirt with " I pulled a Joe!" ? Or something along those lines?
Razvan Traian Griguta I
I love Joe's show!! ❤ He is so Real!! Like he says "what you see is what you get!! Love Wolfie!!! You are #1!!
Bushcraft Baxter get out and train and get it done! :)
Haha same here, I've got some friends who are interested and some land to go play around on, haha.
Bushcraft Baxter get out more, man! 😂
Wood wood wood... when you think you have too much ... GET MORE!
I think he can survive... i mean he did survive 10 days with pretty minimal gear in an island somewhere in Canadian wilderness and he did pretty fine so... yeah
Never can have too much wood.... No homo.....
I like how long your videos are. It makes it so I can watch and listen to it while I sleep. I'm a big fan of survivalist shows and movies. I like how you don't take out the mistakes or mishaps. All the shows and movies make it seem easy. When it's really not.
I am glad you're getting paid sponsors. Good video!
HAHAHA Jedi joe, may the fire steel be with you was amazing Joe 😂
Normally I absolutely hate winter camping. I keep saying if I go again it will be with a hot tent. But you've honestly changed my mind. I might try winter camping again. Thank you Joe.
You do an amazing job with these videos! This one is one of my favorites.

“She don’t use jelly” is one of my most favorite songs by The Flaming Lips.
YOU ARE THE BEST RUclipsR!!!
One less to 20k thumbs! Great trip Joe. I enjoyed every minute. Greetings from Germany. Azze

Confidence and having fun in a situation where most people woundnt survive. A level we all like to achieve. Doesn't snow where I hike but like doing the same. True Legend
