This interview series is great! I love hearing these amazing people talk about their passion. We also learn just how smart they are. I look forward to the next one, Joel!
Thank you Joel! I’m a UCLA fan so I’m obviously thrilled to have our boy on, but as a college football fan, everyone should hear what Chip has to say. Great conversation as always, would love to hear from more of these 1B tier coaches
The ducks were built on tempo, those triple options, zone reads, inside n outside zone runs max speed options. Darron Thomas, LMJ, Kenjon Barner etc. Then came sorta that RPO style, spread passing games etc. chip was the one who really started the change in philosophy from under center to shotgun n no huddle Revolutionized college football
Love this series, especially this one with Chip Kelly. He’s one of the reasons why I love Oregon football and the spread concepts. He’s one of the most underrated coaches in college football.
Thank you Mr. Klatt. I’ve been a fan of Chip since 2010, it’s extremely interesting to dive into his mind of college football as a whole. To see his priorities of education and balancing football and the dramatics that come with it. It was also very interesting his concept of analytics in football. Very well done interview on such a pinnacle coach of college football!
I'm from the UK and only watch College Football casually but honestly that interview was absolutely amazing. What a thoughtful, insightful man Chip Kelly comes across as.
Ummm US Navy vet , I didn't want to agree but I saw very young pilots flying commercial smaller planes in severe weather, I was one of the small passengers. They were so young . We couldn't land cuz it was visibility wise dangerous and windy. We Prayed , at least I was😂 they were applauded when they entered the airport. One pilot was so young his pilots hat was to big and his suit jacket was sagging off his undeveloped adult body 😂 this was amazing to me he looked like he belonged in highschool😂 literally. Wish I could thank that kid . He was a hero to me.
Chip is a smart dude. College football is trending towards a transactional/minor league. Excuse my pessimistic mindset but I do think it's heading that direction
Only HC that took his team to the NFL playoffs as a rookie HC, easily one of the Top 4 HC in CF, the progression he's made at UCLA with those academic requirements, SEC should be lucky he's not at a Florida, Texas, A&M, LSU one of these schools that has great high school talent with typical academic requirements.
Coach Chip is such a student of the game. Always mentions the history of college football that quite literally no one alive probably knows about but it's great to hear. He honors college football and its history. And he's built a program at UCLA.
And he quite literally burned the Eagles to the ground and his ego getting the best of him! Some coach he was! Hope he never sets foot in Philly for as long as he lives!
@JoelKlattShow these interviews have been the best thing on College Football (outside of the games) in years. Thank you to you and Fox for making this happen. I've always thought if players were going to get paid a majority of the money should be put in a fund that is payable upon completion of their degree. They could get a small portion of it while in school for discretionary purposes, but nothing that allows them to live on a much higher level than any other student in college (maybe $500 a week). At Power 5 schools (for the most part) they already have access to facilities on campus that are not offered to the general student population anyway.
Hard to believe college football is healthy. HBCU players aren’t getting drafted into the NFL. Bethune Cookman can’t even provide basic facilities. The PAC12 is floundering in their effort to get a TV contract becoming of a P5 conference. The SEC and B1G treat every other conference like a Dollar Store, grabbing players, coaches and even gracing programs the likes of USC, UCLA, Texas, & Oklahoma with oversized and obscene buying power, destroying long standing rivalry games in the aftermath. The concentration of haves and have-nots favors 30 or so D1 programs at the expense of 90 relatively irrelevant programs that are effectively resource choked to the point of not having much realistic hope of ever winning a national championship. It’s difficult for most alumni bases to watch their alma matter play on TV at 1 PM on Saturday while the ESPN/FOX cartel keeps concentrating power and the best time slots towards predictable sure things highlighted by protected brands like Alabama/Georgia and Ohio State/Michigan. When blue bloods lord over at the ACC, Big12, Pac12, and FCS conference teams, the majority of fans get robbed of the myth of a level playing field. College football should be a national cultural institution with a playing field that is not tilted by network executives who make decisions based on discriminatory and seemingly arbitrary media valuations. March Madness is fun because of Cinderella story is possible in basketball. There is no equivalent in NCAA football.
@TheBruins108 because I think he is wasting our talent. He can't coach the big games. If we could keep everyone else and hire a Chip Kelly that would be great. Don't get me wrong. He is amazing with the student/athletes.
@@AkronKid330 I don't disagree that Kelly is better than Day but don't over react to the recent Michigan losses, St had the upper hand for what a decade the tide always turns Urban is one a kind look at UF since he's left at least you guys are in B1G Champ game/playoff contention, UF is an afterthought.
I always hated the excuse oh we don't have a fullback or we don't have tight ends. No one ever says we don't have d-tackles or guards or linebackers. Kelly wants to run what he runs and he's good at it, but that's a stupid saying.
17:39 the recourse for a player is the school gets its scholarship back. And you can offer it to another student. If you don’t think that is enough, then it begs the question of whether the scholarship was worth enough as compensation for the students to begin with 💯

No crying on the yacht!
Incredible line. Glad to see at least one coach has some perspective
Klatt getting us the interviews we want.
Facts!
I lot of people don’t like Chip but regardless you can’t deny this is a great interview
This interview series is great! I love hearing these amazing people talk about their passion. We also learn just how smart they are. I look forward to the next one, Joel!
I’ll never forget watching Oregon football during Chip’s days. If he had access to d lineman that play in the SEC, he would have won multiple titles.
he was getting there at the end w armstead and buckner. just left too early before they were ready to finish the job
Im not a fan of 0regon but i have to agree, that 2010 season if they had top tier linemen they could of beaten Cam Newton & Auburn.
Thank you Joel! I’m a UCLA fan so I’m obviously thrilled to have our boy on, but as a college football fan, everyone should hear what Chip has to say. Great conversation as always, would love to hear from more of these 1B tier coaches
Some of the most insightful answers I've heard in a while.
Not a huge chip fan but listening to him talk is amazing
Nice interview, Chip did a great job at answering questions with good insight 👍🏾
This interview was amazing. Absolutely love Chip's perspective on the sport.

LOVE this series!! Can't wait for Harbaugh… Maybe with a “special” guest Gus Johnson?!?!
No one cares about that cheating garbage can.

One of the Legendary Coaches, I don't watch football really and I know the name Chip Kelly

Great job again!
Joel simply the goat
ok.. I'm sure of it now... I like Chip teaming up with Ryan Day at Ohio State to win a Natty or 2

Chip is underrated as a college head coach.

@@fsanmiguel666 it worked out for Philly. Almost won another championship last year! Sometimes bad situations allows for better beginnings.

Maybe that Joe Paterno guy was a great coach.
As a life-long Oregon Duck Fan, I've always loved Chip Kelly.

Gotta know where Joel gets all of his shirts
This guy should have never left Oregon. He would have built a Dynasty up there.
