Next up in the fast food series is Taco Bell. This one could be the toughest one yet, they use ingredients I have never seen before and it's really tough to find anything healthy'ish on the menu! If you are wondering, my stomach survived and I did not have any issues, but I won't eve be going back.
    Where to next?!

The thing I like about Bobby’s fast food reviews is... at least he acknowledges that the “food” tastes good and fires up the taste buds, which sometimes makes it hard to resist. Most people have to get to the point where the negative effects (tummy issues) overwhelm the cravings.

Fun fact - Doritos were invented at Disneyland in the 1960s. There was a Mexican restaurant sponsored by Fritos. The chef would take day old tortillas and instead of throwing them away would fry them up and add spices. One day a Fritos executive went to the restaurant and liked it so much and the rest as they say is history.

Regardless, it's hard to stay way from MSG as it occurs naturally in a lot of foods, like tomatoes. There is an argument regarding synthetic MSG being worse than natural MSG. But personally I think limiting your caloric intake and focusing on nutrients far outweighs the anti MSG dance.

Do over with the vegetarian options please! As a vegetarian, taco bell has the most options out of any fast food place, and it's cheap, so in a pinch that's where I go. Also the black beans seemed to me to be a little bit cleaner than the meat, but I want Bobby's opinion.
Or just do a review of each of the ingredients! Taco Bell makes it so simple to customize your order, so you could in theory just build your own taco with the cleanest ingredients they have

My husband and I don’t eat much fast food but when we take road trips... it’s our only option. (e.g. We drove to the Grand Canyon from TX and the only restaurant options were McDonald’s, Taco Bell and.... gas station food 🤢.) So your sacrifice is appreciated!
Could you please review Subway or sandwich shop chains?

400 ingredients for a doritos locos taco shell. Even the tortillas good grief. I only eat there on occasion, but now, not so much. But I would think a mexican restaurant would be a healthier option. These days the cost would about the the same I'm sure. Cook at home, a much more healthier option. Thanks Bobby for showing all this. What an eye opener.

You do know that you don’t have to drink a huge cup of the soda....
I actually love Baja Blast lime flavor, but have only tasted it once in a bottle from the grocery store and the formulas are often different from the fast food joint fountain drinks. 20 fluid ounces has 44 grams added sugar (11 teaspoons sugar) and 96 grams caffeine. But you don’t have to drink 20 ounces at once!!!! It’s a bottle with a cap! You can refrigerate the opened bottle! You can even freeze it in portions (I use empty water bottles) or 2.5 fluid ounce popsicles!
So basically, you can drink 1/4 or 1/3 of it and be happy. It has such an intense flavor that it probably can be effectively diluted quite a bit with water. That brings down both the caffeine and the sugar considerably.
How bad the sugar hit is also depends on what else you are eating that day as well as on your own personal sensitivity to sugar. The sugar absorption is likely to be slowed down if certain foods are eaten at the same time (same as the phenomenon that a glass of Chianti before dinner at an Italian restaurant practically put my mother under the table, but a glass of wine along with a big dinner did not). So just know your own body and your options if you like a soda but are viewing with alarm at the sugar and other components.
