Embiid's knee is what I'm panicking the most about. He's playing at like 65% MAX & I worry greatly about him getting re-hurt, especially in a close game 7 type of thing where he needs to go hard.

I'm a huge sixers fan, from Philly, and I've been saying I think it's time to trade him. I have full confidence in a rebuild around maxey because I think embiid has 2 years MAX of good production in his body. and we need to sell now before it's too late because that line is already being toed hard.

I'm still feeling good about the Thunder in round 1. It was the playoff debut for 6 players including two starters. It looks like they came out nervous and played poorly but still won. The Pels even lost the minutes Valanciunas was on the floor even though he was a rebounding machine.
Probably it was for the good. Basically free rough playoff experience which is very valuable for this young team looking into the next rounds. And they still won.
Yup, I feel even better for OKC after that game tbh. Pels threw a punch and it wasn't enough. Great experience for all the playoff debutants who won't be so overawed from now on.

What you saw in the Mavs are all the worst parts of Jason Kidd being the HC. Mavs came out sleepwalking, bad rotations, his love affair with THJ, everyone chucking threes. Mavs still got this series but they need to lock the fuck in.
They couldn't hit a shot to save their life in the first half, it was painful to watch. I'm still confident they will find their groove.

@kevinlovehandle7045 true but Mavs played their worst quarter for probably more than a decade. Their defense was alright but their offense during that 1st half is so bad that you don't really expect that to come again for a Luka-Kyrie lead offense. On the other hand tho, Kawhi isn't there and PG played below what we expected from him. This series is without a doubt depends on Harden (assuming Kawhi will be back). I say Harden over Kawhi because Kawhi is more consistent during the playoffs than Harden.

Kenny my beloved brother, I respect your basketball knowledge so much. As a Knick fan I'm very disappointed in hearing you say that Embiid dominated when he was on the court because of +/- when in fact when he was guarded by Mitchell Robinson he shot 2-11 for the game and 0-5 in the fourth quarter.

Miami’s panic meter is a 1. The Celtics are a super team facing an 8th seed full of overqualified role players without their star. There’s quite literally no expectations to be had for them. There’s no legacy on the line or an epic season coming to a disappointing close to be had. It’s truly just
they don't care about expectations lol they care about winning the series. and as you said yourself, there's no expectation for them to win, meaning they are probably gonna be eliminated. they should be high on the panic meter.
How are Celtics a super team, Wikipedia has the def of a super team as 3 HOF that join forces to create a super team. Jt and Jb were drafted, jrue and porzingis are def not HOF and jrue was traded there. A super team is manufactured through free agency and big personalities. Would you call the 2019 raptors or 2015 warriors a super team? They are just a super well crafted team

As a Mavs fan everything you said was accurate. Kidd doesn’t like to use timeouts and for whatever reason loves THJ (yes he’s a solid defender but he’s a liability offensively when he can’t hit his shots) I’d rather see Exum or Josh green out there because both are good defenders and Exum is a better scorer and passer and Josh green doesn’t need to score much to be impactful

So far as a mavs fan I’m not surprised. Game one was us getting embarrassed and letting clippers get confident. Game two was us being more defensive and more physical with Kawhi in the game. Game three was the same formula except add in a classic PG13 performance, a bench warmer Kawhi and a Russ who was doing his best Draymond impression. As a Knicks fan, I thought the Knicks defense carried the night. They did a fantastic job in drop coverage. The player of the game has to be Josh Hart for sure. You see the activity on defense in drop, pick n roll, on the interior. The man never allowed space to breath for the Sixers. I think Mitch Rob was excellent containing (as much as he can) Embiid. Obviously, Embiid is still a threat you have to respect on the floor hurt/otherwise. Shoutout to Bogdonavic off the bench because, although not a great face up defender, the defensive sets Tibs got them running allows him to hide on defense to cover the corner 3s the Sixers would have to take advantage of with Embiid hurt and double coverage on Maxey. This defense gives me confidence to say that, regardless of Embiid being in/out for the series, the Knicks are winning in 4. The fact that the length advantage for the Sixers is not phasing the small lineup the Knicks use is my major highlight. It seemed like Sixers tried to play both sides of the ball but were unable because of the schemes the Knicks executed on both sides of the ball. The fact that you’re able to take advantage of the boards and 2nd chance points is huge for a team that’s offensive pivot point is limited. If Embiid goes out for the series (or take tonight for example), I can see a realm where we’d double cover Maxey and allow iHart or Rob to sit in the dunker’s spot. Both are great on contests so the lane would be denied. Now, we see if the Sixers can win the shootout. Meanwhile, we can take advantage on offense for paint points and timely perimeter shots.

I agree with the Mavs take, however, this is absolutely not the efficiency you see from them on a regular basis, especially playoffs. I'll say this was a mulligan game and see how the next one looks, but everyone knows they are not an 8 a quarter team ever. If this is their worst showing then i think they will be fine. They brought a nearly 30+ deficit down to a 12 pt.

miami's panic meter is nowhere near that high. everyone knows we cant win against the best team in the NBA without our leader. Even WITH Jimmy, it would have been a long shot. Our best chance was to beat Philly to play the Knicks and Jimmy not get hurt which would have allowed us to put Jimmy on brunson and force the role players to score.

Gotta disagree with pelicans Kenny. Thunder played about as bad as they could offensively and still won the game. This game was an anomaly for the thunder and they still got it done against you… id panic Atleast a little.
I don’t like the narrative of “If the clippers beat Mavs without Kawhi imagine when he’s playing.”
They were prepared to play Kawhi so without him being there it’s also an advantage for a team like the Clippers that is so deep with so many 2nd options.
I honestly think they would have beat the Clippers if Kawhi was playing, but hell, that 2nd quarter made me want to completely disown the Mavs 😂

Once again .. not enough respect on the Knicks . They got the second seed with a majority of our starters out for most of the season , mid season trades , and Jalen playing his ass off . Our bench is ready for whatever comes out way , and I’m sure Jalen this second game has made adjustments to counterattack the defense as he usually does
How is the 76ers panic level not higher? The only reason the game was even somewhat close is because Kyle Lowry of all people shot unsustainably well and Brunson missed a handful of shots he normally makes. 76ers should absolutely be panicked.
He right about worrying more about Embiids health than losing game 1 because without him there is no shot at winning the series but consider the 76ers have guys who just weren’t taking enough shots especially off the bench. Oubre and hield need to shoot more which probably offsets Lowry a bit however the Knicks are gonna keep throwing bodies at Tyrese and with the defenders they have he eventually is gonna get slowed down Brunson on the other hand should only heat up but he should focus on playmaking like he did in the second half and find his shooters because he’s gonna be at a disadvantage being smaller and less athletic than his defender more often. Best way to offset that is to get divincenzo and OG hitting their shots you also look to get more in the midrange and you have to have Robinson coming out the paint to face up with Embiid or he’s gonna torch the Knicks. If hart and Dante are hitting shots that gets Brunson the space he’s looking for especially on drives and in the mid range which is something you can go to late
same thing bout Lowry can also be said about Josh Hart lmao (31% three point shooter who hit 4 threes in Game 1)
if he shot his averages, it would be a 1 point game instead of a Knicks win by 7 and he hasn't hit 4 threes in a game since FEB 2023
