From "Around the Beatles", broadcast on television internationally in 1964, a one-off TV special produced concurrently while "A Hard Days Night" was being shot. It was directed by Jack Good, of Oh Boy & Shindig fame. Along with the Fab Four were Cilla Black, Long John Baldry, PJ Proby, the Vernons Girls, Jamaican teenage ska sensation Millie “My Boy Lollipop” Small, The Jets and Sounds Incorporated, an instrumental group who were Cilla Black’s backing group as well as the opening act when the Beatles toured.
One of the best performances! Thank you! Would anyone know the names of the two Vernon girls? I red they were quite a few of them throughout the years.
I always thought they were under rated. Saw a film with them backing Little Richard. They were very good and complimented his performance. Vernon's girls were great as was Long John. Happy memories thanks to all of them
Very sorry to hear this. I grew up with all these stars and watching them on this film confirms how talented they were. Good memorirs@@joannaharrison7368
Good grief, Jean Owen is just fabulous in this clip. How did she fail to become a huge star?
The Vernons Girls. I love them
I love it with my whole heart this is great to hear and to see.Thank you for uploading.

Oh this took me back! Great performances by all. Often thought Sounds Incorporated were underrated.
Fore-runner to Dead Ringer For Love (Meatloaf and Cher)? Fantastic anyway.
I thought the same
Long John fabulous but so are the Venons

The first to sing was Maureen Kennedy
The second Vernon’s girl is Jean Owen, who changed her name to Samantha Jones when she left the group to pursue a solo career.
Thanks, cinerama88.......I recognise both names, but hadn't realised it was the same person :)
formidable
The Sound incorporated backing band
It sure did.
