yo, I got first in PMK at my regional conference and also first in RP, 93/100 you should def watch his vids cus they are actually useful, I would say that visuals are awesome and I had 4 3 graphs lol
@stxrmyskyz1738 You must create them during your prep time. Whatever you create you can bring with you. For most competitors, it's a very simple mock up of an idea.
I'm going to districts tomorrow and I have never done any sort of Deca competition before. I still have no idea what to expect but this video will definitely help! I took pictures of many of the key points in this video to study on the bus ride tomorrow. I wasn't as worried about soft skills because I already feel I am a good public speaker. I still have no idea what to expect in my competition when it comes to questions and what it's going to be about. This video will for sure help me tomorrow though, especially with how you should time the presentation, that was extremely helpful! I will try and respond tomorrow to let you know how it goes.
If you decide to do DECA again next year, keep in mind that on the official DECA website they typically post what the instructional area (aka, “what it’s going to be about”) is for the district competitions!!! I’m pretty certain DECA GOAT has a video on how to find this, but I could be mistaken. Basically, knowing the instructional area helps you study specific performance indicators and prepare yourself for what subject to expect your role play to be about. I hope you enjoyed the event and join DECA again next year if possible!!
Hello sir, thank you for your videos. They helped me so much. I have a question regarding the roadmap at 11:20 . If I am dealing with a customer, then I find PIs like 'Demonstrate a customer-service mindset' or 'Interpret business policies to customers and clients' to be difficult. This is because of the action word at the start. Firstly, am I justified in believing that I do not need to explain the PI in this scenario, just demonstrate it through my communication? If so, I find using the roadmap difficult because I do not need to explain the PI, just act in accordance with it. Thank you!
Quick question it’s my first year doing DECA and I was a little confused with the business card thing. I’m doing marketing and would I just like have an actual business card like one I have already written down like at home and (assuming the time and situation is right) afterwards hand it to them? Or is this something I would make while at DECA?
I have a couple of questions, sir. Are participants given the case study for the roleplay for a specific event in a district conference before the competition? I was wondering if I could prepare the note sheet beforehand and bring it with me to the conference?
@@BowtieGOAT Therefore, the best way to prepare for the roleplay before the conference day is to familiarize myself with the event and use past case studies?
Thanks for the video, any advice for coming up with a presentation/interview plan when being presented with the RP topic, specifically one you know little about ?
How would you say is the best way to prepare for PFN roleplay. Also my test scores for the test is around 85-90 right now. Is that enough for states? I am in California if that changes anything.
tysm your videos help me pass districts!! What are some tips to do well on the test for state? I felt that the previous test had a lot of random information so how do I effectively prepare for that?

Nerves are your worst enemy. Know that your judge came to see you present. They are excited for you. Just show up and be awesome.

Awesome. Good luck. It's a great experience and practice will keep making you better!
I have districts tomorrow (technically, anyway, cause it’s almost 3 AM 😭) and it’s my first year. I’m actually so scared for the roleplay 😭
@tofinilith_ so is everyone else. Do your best and just pretend you aren't scared. It's only ten minutes. You can fake it. You will do great.

Unfortunately, no. You find out your role play at the competition, and you cannot bring any notes with you in to the competition.

Yes.

I felt like the districts tests this year, esp the marketing, were really hard. Watch my cluster exam videos. Specific practice goes a long way.
if i were to go out of order with my performance indicators, how would i let my judge know i am without screwing up the roleplay?
Just say the PIs explicitly when you present. You should be okay.
Got my district roleplay tomorrow, hope I go to states!
Good luck!!!
same
@@BowtieGOAT Thanks for all the advice in this video! I got into states!!!!
Guys how hard is it to get to states
Depends on your district/region.
Should we say our names when we walk in
I always recommend it. This makes sure the judge has the correct score sheet when you start your role play.
Is it better to have a long pause than to say filler words like “um” and “uh”?
Absolutely. Those pauses are much longer to you than to your judge!
