- Home made trailer ramp airbag lift assist.
Standard 2600lb air lift air bags. 1"x2" 3/16" tube for all the bracing and the 4ft long bar. The rest is 1/4" plate. Air lines air 3/8" These ramps are very heavy and weigh roughly 400lbs or so. The trailer is a 40,000lb tag trailer for heavy equipment hauling. System operates on about 120psi
this is the best thing I have seen all year. building a ramp truck for the skid steer, ramps will go up 10 times plus a day. been looking at hydraulic, cable winch spring assist, I think airbags win.
Nice job there stranger, at first thought I was wondering how big of a cylinder you had to build to put in place of that but that makes a lot more sense with a 6-inch airbag
I wish I’da had something like that when I used to haul equipment around. I must’ve lifted those frickin ramps 20 times or more a day, that’s why my back is screwed! 🤕😫🤣🤣
KISS method at work. Looks good to me!
Genius! I love it
Sweet little home built engineering project. Definitely save the back. Haha.
Awesome idea.
Thats a damn fine idea right there.
Dude thats awesome
Nice job 👍👍👍
I'm curious about the hinge section to make it lift the ramps.
Really smart idea
Eager beaver had a setup similar. Would like to see the ramp end working.
Good stuff, but you need to still tie or pin the ramps down to your trailer, just drill a hole through the rod somewhere and fit a pin. If you lose air on the road you could kill someone.
Look at the side of the trailer. Flat bar the trailer to the ramps. Somethings are easy to miss at first glance.
The ramps have the locking arms that go up you can see em on the side of the trailer.
Funny how you got 13 negatives.Guess the flesh light just gave out?LOL.Cool build, we forget pneumatic.
Nice!
I have a lowboy almost identical to this. Is there anyway I can contact you personally for more information about how you set this up?
Do you have any pictures of how it’s attached to the ramp?
Аппарели надо всё равно цепями стягивать в поднятом положении.В процессе эксплуатации нужны будут доработки.👍🏻
I Hope you are still active on RUclips. Are you able to provide any information on the air spring specs? Max/min length. Or part number?
Süper sisytem 👍
NICE very well done ! U should Patten it ...
They can't this idea had been around for years and major trailer manufacturers have been using it for as long
If you plan on building one make sure you ramps can go several inches below the flat ground mark as is never level when you get where you need to load
His system look like it has nearly bottomed out on level ground
we've been using this to haul a dozer and you had better be on fairly level ground as steel tracks and a metal trailer floor will provide an interesting ride off the side. But you are correct.
Wow
Very cool! I wonder if there is a safety pin if an air line were to blow?
Yes. Flat bar from the side of the trailer to the ramps. Just pins up.
@@joewatson5801 ok, I see that now, they are folded forward and out of the way 👍
@@PullStartStables this set up was put together by my best friend and his brother in law. Works great
@@joewatson5801 What powers the bags? Compressor in the trailer or air line exterior? They sure work fast!
@@PullStartStables plumbed into the tank on the trailer. When you charge the trailer the ramps will work. Has a push pull valve between the tank and air bags located behind the rear axle on driver side
Losing air pressure will be Soo funny for that build
Flat bar from the side of the trailer to the ramps.
Does anyone know how to reach randy ross?
Randy passed away shortly after this video was posted.
Give hydraulics a miss after this 👍
all ya need is a welder and 2 cents.
You should’ve patented it before you posted it to RUclips
better make a pin lock, bag pops and your fucked.
