To be completely honest, the University of Utah is fairly liminal in the summer. I recognize those buildings because im a grad student there. Nice work!
This is indeed one of the best backrooms videos I have ever seen. I'm amazed that I couldn't distinguish between reality and illusion. I have a small suggestion for you: the camera is a bit too shaky, which makes it uncomfortable for the eyes and causes dizziness.
Don't stop making these, the thing about backrooms found footage videos is that everyone praises Kane Pixels's videos which I'll admit are well done and creative but there's other backrooms found footage creators that are worthy of praise and some i think surpasses his videos in terms of quality believability and sticking with the traditional backrooms lore. One of the best i've seen. I don't really enjoy the "OMG HERE COMES A MONSTER" type ones. Doors that just appear from no where are so ominous, and I love the Rules of Observation (when it's not being observed, it doesn't exist. Ex. The door in the stairs, the door in the hallway, No one advanced down the stairs after him UNTIL he opened the door and checked.) Does a Tree that falls in the woods make a sound? I've always had the idea that the backrooms is a place between EXISTENCE and NON-exISTENCE Its why you can't run into another person, because if you could you would both be "real" to eachother. Once in the backrooms, look for other people.
think i had something very similar. We moved in. it was an Appartment but the bathroom and toilet was combined but the whole thing was narrow and you had not so much space. If you go inside right side you have the tap and sink. on the left side there is the toilet. But not opposite but hallway further. at the other side parallel to the entrance door there was another door to an Appartment but Look like it wasn't used for a very long time. I found seats and TV on the seats an older plastic bag from the Austrian Supermarkt Billa. I can't remember much details It's so hard to describe i need to model it. All I remember my parents where not so amused about it when I go there
I loved it a lot, excellent work. c: The atmosphere was great and nice use of real footage, which was combined with CGI at places? Either way, very nicely done, will be eager to see more!
Imagine getting yourself locked in this place and you're family and friends are trying to find you. Can't call anyone because phones don't work. You're in what's essentially a never ending maze.
Im glad that the found footages whitout entities or monsters or whatever are becoming more and more common as time passes. Mostly because its so danm annoying when someone makes a footage that is very nice for the most part (cuz it shows an unique backrooms architecture or scenarios, the lighting is super realistic etc) but suddendly ruins everything by adding the most tasteless and generic monster anyone can think of and turning the plot into "OMG A SCARY MONSTER HERE WKSJAKAMSNW" like no bro, no one who is older than 10 will get genuinely scared by watching the mc scaping from an SCP rip-off for the 293847475849302th time However I like when the "entities" are more subtle and instead of appear abruptly they manifest in the form of weird noises, like dropping/breaking objects, steps, etc, or even when the monster already has a bit of originality put on it and doesnt look or act like the typical monster whose only trait is acting like a wild animal. What if the "entity" is just another human who got severely damaged physcally and mentally on that reality? Or what if actually the creature is the one getting scared of you instead of the other way around? What if the " entities aren't actual living beings but very bad attempts from the backroom to create life? Like abnormal and non sentient creatures that are fused with the architecture and just see you walking around and maybe mimick things that you say whitout knowing exactly what do tnat words mean Is also very weird for me when in this type of videos the mc does self talk way too much, like bro are you schizophrenic or smth?

I agree so much about the entity stuff. If I see a wirey stupid obviously fake looking entity in the thumbnail of a backrooms video I dont click. Backrooms appeal to me when they are focused on the exploratory 'lost' in a surreal environment that doesnt exist in the actual real world vibe. If it aint got that I dont want it. Its why I adore the poolrooms based videos so much. Theres like...no entity in those usually. Just swimming and exploring and trying to find your way out.
@@magica1355 trueeee, I think that one of the main issues with the entities is that aside of being unoriginal they are only used to do cheap jumpscares like 99% of the time, instead of just adjusting to the enviorment and apporting to the existential horror. What makes the backrooms scary is that the setting makes you feel nostalgic, yet weird and uncomfortable too
I loved this, nice work. As another commenter pointed out, I'm not all about the monsters either. Its good to have a monster here and there, but what I'm really a fan of and why I love the backrooms are the spaces themselves. Complete isolation in a strange place, looks strange but feels familiar, feels unsettling. You start to feel alone, and then shortly after you feel as if youre being watched. And like Malls, stores, airports, they seem so familiar, yet something is off, especially the music that plays above in those places, the song sounds familiar, but not quite right. Distorted.. I can type out so many more things I love about the backrooms, but that would be a really long comment. I just love the very idea of the backrooms.
Dude, don’t underestimate yourself. This was amazing, professional movie tier work. You have people in the comments asking if this was real, even though blender liminal space is all the rage. Give it time, this will blow up.
Loved this! I agree with invalidcookie, i'm not a fan of jump scares or OMG DA MONSTERS when it comes to backrooms footage. The terror for me was similar to being lost in the open ocean, but within a synthetic environment, making it way creepier. The scale of the facilities, the extreme and sometimes impossible architecture, and the non-Euclidean nature of the space it and you now inhabit. The fact there is a location with infinite architecture IS the horror, it's nature mimicking humanity, or rather some abomination of it, some supernatural force... and getting lost inside it is the icing on the cake. The structures themselves devolve and become crumbled & shambled over time, showing not even the force creating the backrooms can itself withstand the immense task it has been charged with undertaking. Not to mention some locations are flat out nightmare fuel on their own, even if they were finite and natural... I honestly can't see how monsters, ghouls and daemons could make it scarier, death would be welcome after a while. The monsters only serve to add horror from a standpoint of being completely outside the backrooms looking in, or given the concept the backrooms are escapable to being with. Though i can't imagine an exit would do much good if you can never find it. I'm always looking for real locations like this. There's a lose sewer grate a few km away in the city, its got a red light and a ladder down there. I feel like if i open it and climb down, i could find some cool stuff. Ive got tons of gear, and imported a US military gas mask + some new filters. I really wanna climb in and explore. If anyone were to do that, please bring a few lights, a days worth of food/water, and a weapon. I highly recommend a gas mask with unused CBRN filters. If not, CBA-RCA filters are good too (can stop CS gas) or at very least a hardware store respirator or N95 mask. Never go bare. A TON of poisonous vapours/gases are completely odourless and invisible. Also firearms are preferred, a knife for emergencies is good too.
