I'm willing to bet "Rick The Door Technician" was added as a placeholder for an enemy encounter initially, and the dev responsible for it forgot to replace it until someone else on the team found it and loved it, so they all decided to leave it in.
There's probably a guy named Rick at the studio's headquarters who walked into a door and he became an inside joke.
A lot of the best jokes are because of stuff like that. its always good when they roll with it so i hope that was the case but its a funny idea regardless

Nope, they actually just put Rick in as an intentional sort of a cop-out after a difficult segment.
Rick the door technician was perfectly placed after one of the hardest mob fights in the game on Jedi gm. No rest point for your health just an onslaught of enemies and then Rick waiting for you at the end
So what I’m hearing is… Rick was there to finish the job.
@@MilesJ. and he actually did on my first playthrough. I got cocky because he was just a regular trooper so I missed the parry window and died because I had basically no health left

in Cyberpunk, there are random rooms scattered throughout the city that can only be opened with Strength maxed out, and in these doors are usually robots telling you to be quiet about whatever illicit deeds they are partaking in.
seems like some dev just saw an opportunity to put these guys all over the place lol
Yup, one is near the motel apartment on the northern section of the map. Open the room and it's two robots playing poker. Laughed my ass off when I saw that one.
A few more mentions:
1. Tekken 5. In the Devil Within mini-game, there’s a wall that you can only break by firing a killer beam, and in the room behind it, which you can reach via platforms that spawn once that wall breaks, you’ll find a retro spaceship that unlocks the option to play Starblade without having to reset.
2. MediEvil, the ps4 version. Once you complete the lost souls quest, you unlock a new option in the main menu. That new option, called “Old Game”, lets you play the ps1 version of MediEvil.
3. The Last of Us part 2. On Seattle day 1 as Abby, when Manny helps her sneak out, if you’re curious enough to look around, you’ll find a bedroom, and in one of the drawers, you’ll find a note that doesn’t count towards collectibles (therefor not mandatory for the platinum), because Manny yanks it off your hand in a few seconds. It’s an erotic letter from one of the girls he banged, and his dialogue with Abby about it is hilarious. Good thing the game is M-rated, because the context of that letter is quite TMI (I looked it up, out of curiosity).
4. Uncharted 4. Naughty Dog added a trophy that pops up if you do nothing in the first 30 seconds of a certain chapter, to laugh at the demonstration they screwed up because they forgot to connect the controller.
Fun fact: Nathan McCree, sound designer and composer for Tomb Raider 2, sneaked in the sounds of the butler farting as he follows Lara around her mansion AFTER Core and Eidos had it approved by Sony, because they apparently would have been against his flatulence. That walk-in freezer must have absolutely stunk.
I doubt it would stink those fans pull all the air out of it constantly. I used to smoke weed in the walk in freezer all the time! Why?? Because it NEVER stunk

@@reptar69 Also the cold makes it smell less and causes the smoke to rise. That’s why hotter rooms will have smoke settle more easily and will smell more, think any high school sports event vs a frozen fish locker or supermarket aisle. I still remember trying to explain this to my pothead friends and the puzzled looks they gave me 😂

I genuinely love learning about secrets in games. Cyberpunks massive secret was more compelling than the main story, that’s not meant to be a slam, it’s just that good.
I always thought Rick the Door Technician is an easter egg of Matt the Radar Technician in that little skit with Adam Driver

I worked on Brothers in Arms and remember testing the pew pew gun relentlessly! It wasn't always a cat but I remember when they put the model in and laughing with the whole office.

I put a dead golfer in the out of bounds area in PGA European Tour Golf (1996). I also put a land speeder and a Jawa Sandcrawler from Star Wars into Emperor: Battle For Dune in 2001.

Gameranx NEVER mentions the secret cow level from Diablo 2 in videos where it would fit in perfectly :( Maybe because so many people know about it... but it is still perfect for these lists hahaha
They’ve already included it in so many Easter egg lists. They just are choosing to not be repetitive.

I love when developers amuse themselves with weird or stupid easter eggs. Even if sone, like the Holy Grail in Dragon Age: Inquisition, drive me crazy trying to obtain

One that should be added is the team at supercell specifically the developer team for brawl stars. The lore they added is absolutely phenomenal. Dead serious yall need to check it out
I just tried the Katamari Google trick, and it even works on smartphone touchscreens. Nice touch.
The interesting thing about the Cyberpunk 2077 Arasaka Tower game, is the one comment I saw where someone said until Phantom Liberty came out, it might not have been an actual mystery. It was just a hexadecimal colour code the CDPR team liked to put in the game. But the gamers spent so much time trying to find the mystery, that in Phantom Liberty the devs created a mystery to go with the code. Is that true? Don't know; but it makes for one hella cool story!
Cod zombies was designed for the devs as a fun break from working
I dont know if this counts but my favorite is basically just the entirety of cod zombies being a dev just pushing it in there he also put a ray gun in one of the WAW missions and almost got fired for it

In AC Origins, there's a damn comet that falls into the desert, followed by a weird puzzle to solve. Once you solve it, it's an Easter egg for FINAL FANTASY which was so absurd and hilarious to me at the same time as Bayek thought they were GODS😂 It even gives you some overpowered gear

The jedi game easter egg feels very similar to The Outer Worlds, Peril on Gorgon DLC where you can come across a marauder named "Charles from Accounting"

There are so many easter eggs in jedi survivor. Theres a hidden passage way with a 3 minute long squeeze threw tunnel only to find a room with battle droids painting a wampa in the "draw me like one of your french girls" pose.
Surprised that in Jedi: Survivor you didn't mention the secret room where there's a Wampa posing for some droids who are drawing it.
The katamari one is great! No clue they did that. Been playing through the games this week.

My favourite Easter eggs are when the real game becomes the Easter egg. Like Noita for example. You think the game is just a standard rogue's ke platformer with the gimmic being every pixel is animated, until you realize the levels aren't really levels and there is at least 10x more secret content then their is in the actual game. Following the game instructions is just a red herring. The real game comes when you start finding ways to break out of the game.

I honestly think Rick is a nod to Elden Ring's tutorial boss "soldier of God, Rick" who is one of the community's biggest memes as the strongest character in the game.
As to Mr. Door. It's not certain but best theory I've heard so far is basically just "Replay quantum break to get the reference"
As to Rick the Door Technician... if anything I feel like he's up there with the "TRAITOR!" guy from The Force Awakens for random storm troopers who seem like they should have some epic backstory to them but seemingly don't :P
