- So many people in life want to be rich, but what I have continued to find out through my adventures is that there are different ways you can use "Rich". For some that is money, but for me... I believe being rich in interaction, experience and connection with the world around us is truly the best kind of rich!
Visiting an island in Eastern Samar on this BecomingFilipino journey, I randomly found myself in a local community that may not be rich in material things... but certainly seemed to have people living a fulfilling and rich life! In fact, I ended up with these local Filipino kids who had their own "Rich Bling" or rubber bands...
Which they used for Filipino Games!!
The title isn't about money... it is about the richness of life I found exploring this island!
Filipino kids living the rich life!
Power On!

Have you ever played Filipino games like this before!? I grew up playing like this in Canada and it is always so beautiful to see whole communities like this in the Philippines... Interacting, playing and appreciating life together. I definitely find this to be the kind of "Rich" we should all grow up with, and continue to pursue in our older years :)
Im from CDO and we always play at the streets 😂
I played before like that kulas
We do. Until the gadgets came...
being a child especially in the province is more fun..i used to play this rubber band.. dampa and hanging rubber band and we used it as Chinese garter too.. its a good bonding with your friends.. it is true being a child like everyday showed genuine happiness, kindness, sincerity, care and love...👍
Yan yong laro nmin nuon.nkaka miss kulas..sarap balikan mga kabataan nuon.
Never have I seen kids have so much fun with elastic bands!! Inspired me again well done kulas, there’s no place better than the Philippines 🇵🇭
Agree hehehe...
Some kids even make toy guns out of rubber bands and bambo sticks, using more rubber bands as ammo hahaha. Growing up I played with those too since I always find myself hanging out with boys. 😆😆😆
@@Nil_Sama yes I seen something similar in one of kulas's earlier vlogs
Adrian Noris yup there are different types, some use rubber band as ammo, green mansanitas (aratilis fruit), wooden skewers etc. 😊😊😊
NadlieHime 1814 my girlfriend is a Filipina I go there every year
Kulas, you have always greatly admired the Filipino people, have been sharing to the world "how wonderful" we are as a people and as a nation. But watching you and trying to understand you as a person, I have to say that nobody really has to "become Filipino." The truth is, we just have to be like YOU! And this world will be a brighter happier place. Super Apir! We can only pray for your safety and good health. We love you!
Let’s all just keep sharing positive education and happiness :)
Zoila Albano Very well said! 👍🙌

What wonderful children so caring and helpful such simple pleasures, something we have lost here in the West. They reminded me of myself and my friends when I was a child back in the 1960s such innocent times back then , the vlog brought back many happy memories or Friends who have gone I lost track of. Thanks for this great vlog as are all your vlogs. I have a nurse friend from the Philippines who works and lives here in Wales and he watches all your vlogs of his home .
I grew up in a rural area in Iowa with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Simple games were always the best and exploring the Iowa Bluffs was our playground. It is something that children have seemed to lost as the area has changed. Good Vibes. Mabuhay!
Mabuhay!
Mabuhay😍😍😍
Same here in rural Kentucky. Even at these kids ages and younger my parents and friends parents had no idea where we were for half a day or more and no real worries. They were good parents, it was definitely just a different time. National Guard and CPS would be called out now...haha 35 or so years later, same area kids hardly leave their gaming systems. It's really really sad what childhood has become in so many ways now days.
@@jdtisme9100 Those kids are me when I was young in the Philippines, hahaha! During weekends, my mother didn't know where were at. Back in the day when my place wasn't infested with condos and executive housing. The front of our house was a huge rice field, acres acres of it. There were streams and brooks about, tens of thousands of birds, water buffalo wading hokes, rice grass hays piled up. It was a good time, but sadly progress sealed our town's fate. even today when I tell these stories to my daughter, her was "totoo ba yan" (is it really true)
@@eventfulnonsense sad but true
Kids are the best tour guides always very eager to help : ) awesome adventure! I like the game hunter, take care!

Hats off to billingual Filipino kids. You asked them in Tagalog; they translated in Waray.
Super awesome! that is one thing I love in the Philippines!
And they understand English, too!
I agree. They can understand English. 👌
And very accommodating too.
@@symph2000 yes!

True ❤ its so beautiful to see them so happy
Jessie Pollante thanks for giving kulas a tour jessie 😅
That's the island I lived and had many memories of when I was a 5-6 years old. My father and mother taught in the Mina-anod Elementary school. We had a small "baruto" that I used to row with my own "bugsay". My father would take us across from the main land Brgy. So-ong even in the middle of a typhoon just to get home. The small rock ponds in front of the island that I used to swim in and wonder about the sea creatures that were there. Ahh, my childhood.
Come back home .
Hope you can visit the island again.
Always been impressed with your travels, but this one knocked it outta the park man. It really touched me, what a life you have. Praise God !!!
Again .. your spontaneous videos are the best of all vloggers in the Phil. Keep it on Kulas ❤

@@BecomingFilipino Oh your kind for monetary is not your top priority, but to put a smile on everyone's life first. Thank you, sir!
You have such a huge heart and rich in humanity, Kulas! I seldom watch vlogs in RUclips but now that I discovered your vlogs last week, I'll be watching your vlogs everyday. I spent my first 22 years of my life in the Philippines and now in my 60's I can't help but feel joy and tears everytime I watch your videos. This is better than watching a movie. Keep on posting. Our fellow Filipinos will truly appreciate what you are showing to the whole world, about our great attributes, culture, and the beauty of our country.
What a life...a life I am praying for my little grand children, what a blessing. thank you Kulas.
I can proudly say I was once like those kids, wonderful years of my life😊
I once was one of those kids, remembering growing up and playing those games man those are the days that I have missed so rich of fun and laughter. These kids are discipline by their parents and well-respected manner. They might not have things that they can afford but they live and accept life is rich in what they have and their elders do an outstanding job raising them up. Another beautiful place again Kulas good real content keep going Vlog man and God Bless You....
You can see the innocence of the kids and people at the province. Their willingness to help and be hospitable.
Wow awesome place and great community, it especially makes me want to come back to PI and travel some more, I was there in 2016 and I really loved interacting with the kids, they are very creative and smart and caring. I really like watching your videos Kulas, Great Job please keep it up.

Simplicity at its finest. Some get a high on game consoles, but others get their kicks from elastic bands made into OG chains. Rural life IS the life! Nice one again Kulas! Ayos! :-)

i visited my hometown where I grew up, summer of 2017, and I didn't see any kids out playing marbles, rubber bands, and other games that I grew up playing. it's good to see that there are parts of Philippines that remain undiscovered and left unchanged. Great video.
Everywhere I saw ,was so beautiful like a paradise ,,,,looking all the corner of the Island and the ocean are so precious and amazing... thanks for another great video Kulas, Keep it up...And May God bless your Journey Always..
Consider yourself lucky to have witnessed and experience a fast disappearing childhood fun and game of the local kids here in the Phils.... it was such a welcoming community you have stumbled in to........great and amazing people..... pretty much worthy of the place itself.
It's been an entire 20 years since I was last here as a kid. It brings myself to heart seeing this. The Philippines now is not like how it was when i went. Nor when my dad was there in the 70s and 80s.
So nice place...love it😀😁😊😊watching ur vlogsss more Godbless
My wife and I retired and moved back to her homeland here in the Philippines. Watching kids playing here reminds me of my childhood in Canada where we were always outside playing and enjoying life. Simple life is a beautiful life.
I agree completely and 165% with you there Kyle!! I thank you for showing our kids, our future, where our true riches lie... Mabuhay ka!!
This is great!!!!
Use to play those games when I was a kid.....
Daghan pa lain na dula shatonggggggg
I struggled so much with the dampa hahaha
You can use a one hand though for beginners
Wow I am so blessed to see Philippines again. Salamat sa imong pagpangga sa among Nasud. You come to the right place. Philippines Mabuhay!!!
Yeah! Kulas what a great local kids they've taking care of you really awesome Filipino so that's why I'm very proud pinoy, another hidden gems again kulas that you've found it spectacular nature, well keep enjoying your adventure and always keep safe God bless until then.
At first i was hesitant to subscribe because kulas have become popular already..but as i landed on your videos and always see you interacting with the locals..i become an instant subscriber..you are the real deal man..more power fighter man 👌
Very nice video
Wow! You have an awesome tour guide.this kids are amazing kulas.bless you.
Sarap mo balik pag ka bata, nice one kulas....
NO TV & cable equals RICH outdoor life
Clearly, kids love interacting with you. Your mini tour guides are awesome and that Jesse is quite the character!
ill watch muna kulas...i thought notification prob again as im waiting for new videos daily...thanks kulas for sharing...
Same here. Late kaayo ko 😢
Well, who needs Playstation & Xbox when we have just elastic bands & have a great game of dampa?
What i like about this video is not only the rocks formation but how you attract kids and your interaction with them... Those kids are really living the rich life, beautiful surroundings, simple but kind community. I hope technology will not corrupt those kids. Not all kids play lastiko (elastics ) these days. Seeing a kid with "kulintas lastiko" brings back sweet happy childhood memories.😉 Super Amping!.thanks again for a nice video.
The whole community was wonderful to interact with
Wow its hidden paradise. Nakakatuwa ang mga bata sila na ang tourist guide.
Oh wow!!Kinaray-A kag waray parang magkapareho lng ng dialect.Naka miss ang probinsya!
These kids have a big priceless playground. they can roam around without parents worrying. This is what our life used to be. Mga batang dekada 70 at 80.
tnx
So funny that You were guided by small kids. So amazing that kids can run around the villages as early as 5 years old in the Philippines and that enhances their COURAGE and INDEPENDENCE. Kids in Canada and many European countries are confined in their homes and cannot go out unless supervised by an adult. Yes, they are indeed rich in many many things that money cannot provide. And that's AWESOMER than AWESOME. Simple life, simple pleasures. Power on Kulas, U R really having a good time there !!!
You're the best blogger brother. Everyone is going fine with you here in the Philippines. Have a nice trip .!!
Hey Kulas, you are so fortunate to be in such beautiful and far away places and yet you don't feel forlorn as you are in good company with those warm and caring kids! You too are "rich"!
BTW, you will find such kids in almost all parts of our country, the Philippines.
Kulas' vlogs always touch my heart. As I watched this video alone, I couldn't hold my tears. I'm as young as 27, this video makes me reminisce what I used to do. Those waray words are so fascinating. My father is waray, he's born in Leyte but his clan moved here in Davao. There are plenty of times I can't understand my father's words. Thanks to this video, I could learn some. ^^
Thank you kyle, i miss this place so much, i was born in this place, i have lot of relatives in minaanod. Thank you so much. I have lot of good memories in this place..See you soon Soong and Minaanod island.
This intro is epic. I love the cleanliness of the place from the top view. I like the dock in the middle of the lake(?) with a lot of mangroves on it.
I grew up in Samar and spoke waray! Guintarcan Samar Villareal. Waray waray! :) I miss the simple living. Thank you for portraying the simplicity of the waray people.
Brilliant video of a fabulous place with friendly people, great children. Fantastic memories you're making.
When I was a kid in Manila in the 60s, I used to run around with a bunch of those colorful rubber bands for different games.
So happy to see our Beloved island Minaanod, a place where i grew up,and spent the happiest moment of chidhood life.
Life is so simple there, and yet i can say it was the happiest most memorable part of my life.I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Thanks Kulas for exploring our Island.😍❤❤❤
The simple life of living in the Philippines. Uncomplicated and less distractions. Great video Kulas.

Theres no place like home philippines...thanks kulas for visiting and touring my country...God bless always
when we were kids we used to play "lastiko" in the province. you can chain it once you collected many rubber bands.
This canadian is more filipino than me.
