There's a video of Jeff Porcaro demonstrating the Rosanna shuffle where he specifically mentions taking bits from both Fool In The Rain, as well as Home At Last by Steely Dan, which Bernard Purdie played on. Spot on with the references!
Speaking of first thoughts, my first thought when I heard 'I Was Made for Lovin' You' when I was 8 was I want to play the guitar and here I am. The lyrics of both songs are completely different, but they are both about the exact same thing. Lost interest in Kiss over the years but I can't deny the course of my life was forever changed by them. My first guitar was even a sunburst Hohner Les Paul copy that looked exactly like the one he's playin'. Still relevant and playing the guitar I started with. Wow. Thanks Ace.
Ace is a trip! Saw him with KISS in the late 70's and then with Frehley's Comet in the late 80's. Did you catch his interview with Chris Shiflett on Premier Guitar?
Some people complain about the video corniness but forget thats really just Ace’s humor anyhow…but mainly the idea was probably to put the money in the producing of the music vs the video which makes sense to me… I mean Ace is killing it right now!!! Still cant believe KISS didnt even let him do one or two songs during the farewell tour on at least one of the shows… it would have been amazing for the fans and a live video like that would have so many views online paul and gene would have made money on the views alone.
Walkin' on the Moon is great. 10,000 Volts I just couldn't get into, even though I wanted to, because the Soundgarden was too strong. But this song?? This could've been on his 1978 album. And it was great to hear that Frehley back again.
Ace is in space and that's ok! 1st and middle finger unison bends: Chuck Berry!!! Seen very well on the intro of Johnny B Goode with Bruce Springsteen live! Cheers!
I saw the song video when it first got uploaded, and I almost sent it to you but I knew you'd wanna wait so you could make a video about it. I think Ace was having the time of his life making this video, 80's ladies in the spacesuits would've been a cool addition. I can definitely hear the similarity in the shuffle. I do have a little sense of nostalgia for lyrics like these haha, they're fun and silly and I love it. Like Burn B**ch Burn - I wanna put my log in your fireplace 😂 I did have to laugh at those inflatable guitars haha. It sad to think all these rock stars we know and love are coming to the end of the road and they'll be gone one day, but the best thing is, that the music will live Forever 😊 Love the new shirt. Congrats on 863k Subscribers! 🎉
I love hot 1980's ladies. Everytime I hear someone knocking on my door..I'm like, "I hope this is a hot 1980's lady". And it never is. It's some guy trying to sell me internet service...
My feelings: Most of the guitars on this album is played by Steve Brown for sure. The solo is definitely Ace. Not good, but this is Ace today. I think its good that he has a good musician backing him up, like on Frehleys Comet. Tod Howarth saved that project. All in all I`m happy for Ace!
I think you're right about purposely making it B movie vibe. I got the impression that the 2 aliens in the back were a hat tip to Robert Palmers video with those 2 hot chick's behind him who clearly weren't playing their guitars. No I thought this video was pretty neat if you look at it from that perspective. Song sounds like he was definitely a member of Kiss.
ace and peter is are the first KISSters that have admitted they're old. ace seems to dial it in in the live performance setting. and honestly its the best he can probably do. i don't think he's actively sabotaging his own show.
I honestly believe Steve Brown played A LOT of the guitars. Yes, it has an Ace-like vibe, but it is super-produced and has a level of fluidity that Ace no longer can do (if you've watched recent live footage). Just a theory.
Steve recorded a lot of the rhythm tracks and one or two small leads. Ace did the rest. He did write or co write the songs, Steve just did the mail recording and had Ace overdub his parts on top of
I know a band whose 5th or 6th video that cost 100 grand to make was flatly rejected BY MTV .I personally tend to hate videos that aren't just the artists playing on a stage .i never even get what they're trying to convey .
Ace and Malcolm are what got me into playing. Then I grew up. Paul was right, Ace is a bum. He doesn't care unless he's getting paid. But he never tried to get good either.
Wow! Nothing like bashing what has always been signature Ace / Kiss mindset, simple, hook filled tunes. Your time would be better spent just finding songs you actually dig and then you can talk it up on all points instead of bashing and questioning every aspect.
So I’m a huge Ace Fan more so then just kiss the band. I understand the bad blood between Ace and Gene & Paul I’m team Ace! Also the best part ever is the solo! And his Django Bends are awesome. Also the aliens with fake guitars’
First of all, that is a rad LP Custom. Secondly, that music video looks like some kid put it together on his Mac in 30 minutes. It just makes me sad seeing all of these rock stars from the 70s and 80s still touring and making music. These guys are legends and still extremely talented, and I guess that desire to create music never goes away. But the guy is in his 70s still writing songs about girls? C'mon, dude...
I dunno, I love the cheesy'ness of it. Ace can get away with it. And why is it weird about writing about love? What do you want him to write about? Arthritis and peeing a lot in the middle of the night?
@@TheArtofGuitar Haha, yeah, he can get away with it. It's not weird writing about a universal theme like love; but writing about it in the same way he did in his 30s makes it seem like he's learned nothing in the past 40 years. But I bet he could write a kickass song about arthritis!
That costume is udderly ridiculous He’s really milking it now He sure doesn’t moove much when he plays On the udder hand, I’m sure there’s a lot at steak though
He’s enough without Paul or Gene and so are all of you and just like Ace and this gentle soul who makes this channel I pray the next step for Ace is to come to believe in Jesus. Time is not on your side and none of us are promised tomorrow. Repent to Jesus, folks. You see how ugly the people of the world have become.
I watched the 'music Video'. I didn't like either the music video or the music. He's just relying on his past credits. If he wasn't the ex guitarist for kiss, this tune would die would die a natural death
Not a fan of Ace or Kiss, never have been. When my bands wanted to learn a song of theirs I’d mentally groan. Sorry, just letting you know “we” are out here.
@@TheArtofGuitar We've been calling them double bends (not to be confused with bending a double stop) since I learned lead in the mid 70s. You are bending the b string note up to double the note on the e string (for example). Trust me, you're way younger than me, little brother. LOL
@TheArtofGuitar I think we're the same age (1976??) I'm starting a new band with guys in their 20's and nobody's batting an eye about it. Never too to rock n roll 😁🤘🏻

The video notwithstanding, I love the tune, it’s a very catchy groove

You should have switched Les Pauls throughout this just to keep in the spirit of the Ace video. 🤟🏽
Would have if I had more than one. Now I have an excuse to buy more. Thank you! ;) haha.

That costume is "Udder" amazing" hahaha
First thought on WOTM is was "That's Fool in the Rain!" Really love the tune.
The lyrics reminded me of the song Youre The One Whos Out Of This World, written and performed by ALF.
Holy shit 😂😂😂
That shuffle beat sounds just like the one before the riff kicks off on the title track of the first Blue Murder album. Sounds great!

No joke. I think the 80’s babes are coming in the next Ace vid for Cherry Medicine. Your wish came true!
Bro thanks for your vids i’m really digging what your doing right now and will probably join your lesson site.
Call it a Rosanna Shuffle all you want, but we all know it's the Purdie Shuffle no matter what.
Great insight. I always dug his songs with Kiss. He just had a different vibe about him.
Awesome video! I want you to do a comparison of the Back Into My Arms Again demo against the released version on the new album.
Awesome analysis-I’m a subscriber of your channel now! ❤

I need some drums. My marriage is too happy 😉.
Your background is just chaos.
The “nipples” were actually tubes at first. He cut them because they were in the way when he was trying to mime the guitar track
His lady woke him up!! 11:19
big Ace fan, good song but not groundbreaking
Uh, has he ever been groundbreaking? Not really.
Triggers trigger me
Specifically trigger point outs.

Space nipples was also my first thought lol. Costume is absurd looking
The video is Ed Wood inspired - B horror/sci-fi inspired. The aliens are his fiancé Lara's son and daughter.
One of those riffs sounds like the chorus of sludge factory by alice in chains.
I'm surprised the aliens didn't take Ace back home by now.
Ace is first and foremost a survivor.
I don't think people appreciate how a rock star can have plenty of hard times.

Those are red and blue toilet plungers on his space suit.
Because he's the cash cow space man
Want some drum challenging stuff...its drum machine stuff....Godflesh and Scorn...repetitive and so trance inducing!
Throw some delay on hihats,snare.
If Ace's fragility saddens you, avoid his shopping video shorts.... 😕
Noice 1 Coily! AWK!
First! (I always wanted to say that)
I forget which Kiss members are the cool ones and which is that narcissistic and obnoxious one, so I become uncomfortable saying anything about them.
Broke my elbow yesterday💀(no more guitar)
Mmmm spaaaace nippllesssss aaarrgghhh...
Is ace now the American ozzy? Like he doesn't really know what's going on?
String butler on a les Paul custom is a crime against humanity.

I like Walking On The Moon better than 10,000 Volts. Much rawer and not as slick/over produced.

Double bends, not "unison bends" Damn kids.
a double bend is when you bend two strings usually at the same fret, but I appreciate you calling me a kid. Feels good to this old man. hehe.
