I appreciate your transparency on the commitment and responsibility of getting a puppy. As a former dog groomer, I love people who get their puppies familiar with nails and teeth care. Puppy is going to have a wonderful life with you. He looks so precious!
yess teaching them to not eat food that falls on the floor impulsively is really good and training them to wait for the food will teach them obedience and call backs (how easily they respond from being told to stop, especially when they meet other dogs). It has worked with my dogs and it won't take you forever! puppies learn pretty quickly when they have a favorite treat ready
Just so you know: it’s very important to train “leave it” and “wait” as separate commands. So when you say “leave it” he knows that is not for him and will never be given to him (like dropped food that you may not want him to eat) but “wait” he will eventually be allowed to have it. May not be advice you (Syd) need but some people here in the comments might. :)

That real grass was such a great idea! Pre pandemic my roommate would work long hours and even though he took his dog out for walks, the dog would pee in the bathroom floor.
I just got a puppy (golden retriever). Being a dog mom is a lot effort (so worth tho). I’m 17 but still relate to the mom struggle lol. I’m constantly tired and somewhat annoyed by the pup but I love her the most. She owns my thoughts, my camera roll, and my wallet. It’s one of the best things ever

Just a tip....i know you had in mind the wipes for when he goes potty outside but I also use the wipes to wipe my doggos paws after she has been outside....it will help keep having to mop so much and all that!! One toy that I never thought of to get my dog was crinkle toys...I got my dog one and she absolutely loves it too ....dont be afraid to try out new things!! Spoil him endlessly and enjoy every minute!!

Another good and life saving trick I trained my pup for during work times was a “park it” command to get her to go to a bed or pillow and chill out. It’s kinda like a prolonged stay state, but it’s such a lifesaver for my work at home life!
