The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap

- When the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, the black community owned less than one percent of the United States’ total wealth. More than 150 years later, that number has barely budged. The Color of Money pursues the persistence of this racial wealth gap by focusing on the generators of wealth in the black community: Black Banks.
It is criminal that this video only has 800 views
Your damn right!
Black people don't care I'm forwarding to others and tell them to watch and buy the damn book..
List err n to tone talks and Yvette carnell
up to 5k veiws and growing
9.3k now!!! Had to give people some time to see it. It’s one year later and I’m just now seeing it and sharing it with everyone i know 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Criminal? Yep. Surprising? Nope. Hell of a lot easier to complain about the problem while doing nothing than it is to do something about the problem, stand up and take some action.
I'm really frustrated that this intelligent and informative Sista is being rushed (for whatever reason). It really hurts her powerful message, information and delivery!
They underestimate our attention span
I think she is trying to compress her whole book in this short time span. It may have been better to focus on a narrower topic. However, this should be used as a motivation to read her book, which is superb..
"sista"? Am I missing something?
Buy her books. You will not be disappointed.
@@richardtaylor5323 not only have I bought her book, I'm reading it in a book reading group
The speakers name is Prof. Mehrsa Baradaran. Her book is "The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap." Another great book on the topic is William Darity's and A. Kirsten Mullen's "From Here to Equality: the Case for Reparations for African Americans in the 21st Century."
Great message. Horrible on setup. All of that IT work should have been done earlier. In the end very informative, young people NEED to see/hear.
This upsets me. This lady is dropping jewels and she is being rushed. Why? This is knowledge for our people!
buy the book
Because she's schooling blacks and the last thing they want is educated negroes on the block. Trump himself loves the uneducated, which is how they predominately see blacks. And they aim to keep it that way if it's the last thing they do.
I never learned this in school!!!!😇
We need more videos like this
She’s great. I really enjoyed this. I would love to hear a panel discussion with her and Thomas Sowell ... they cite much of the same historical information. I honestly think that solutions can come when all the real honest history is laid out along with the understanding of how the markets worth.
I appreciate her information, but somebody has to say it she is fine!
As FUCK!
Omg lmao!!!
Nah you just thirsty 😂😂😂
She is. 😆
This is a workshop and you're given a certain amount of time, before the next workshop panel takes place. This is the Wallstreet Green Project.
Her message is very important. I just wish she spoke more clearly and less rushed.
4:06 Skips all the issues with starting
Fantastic!
We should vote down ballot if no reparations isn't on table entrepreneur banks/capital reparations is the agenda black politics a must
How do I get a copy of the Professor's book? and how do I get more information on her philosophy?
Amazon
4 minutes in the video and I can not take it. Can we please get it together. I will come back later.
damn yall didnt even put the speakers name in the description the disrespect lol
@William Mason She's Dr. Mehrsa Baradaran. Her book is " The Color of Money"
Beautiful job 😍
How can she be against reparations as an initial cash payment though?
I haven’t finished this video yet, but I read her book. In her book she is actually in favor of reparations.
@@blongshanks77 she is in favor of reparations except when it comes to cash payments. Somehow when it comes to black americans no one wants us to receive CASH. Like everyone else received CASH as part of their reparations.
@@WarriorsCherub999 She never said she didnt like cash payments as reparation's. Where are you seeing that?
Huh...
No shit.
I say it.
Get killed.
They say it.
You all fucking love it.
Basic economics dictates the creation of a new currency.
But, if I'm not mistaken...
Kindness.
Added to the future list.
really good presentation. however; the federal reserve is not a public institution miss.
The message is great; the presentation is horrid.
And, yes, the Federal Reserve is an institution of the Federal Gov't; it is not a public institution.
She is very attractive
"Bill Gates don't dangle diamonds in the face of peasants when he Microsoft'n in the place"
Logistically, this was a nightmare! Obviously, she is very intelligent and is talking about an extremely important subject; but, she is too soft in this video, where she is being disrespected, & does so very little, & obviously did so very little prior to the filming of this talk, in requiring that the details of the logistics of this talk, the filming, etc., be worked out well before the filming took place, so that they wouldn't be an issue when the filming took place, and that she and this subject matter be given the respect that they deserve.
It's her fault that she didn't push back against this slow, lazy & stammering behavior. And it's the fault of the idiots who allowed this talk & the filming of it to be such a slow, lazy & stammering shit-show!
The book may be worth reading....IF blacks actually APPLY the knowledge, otherwise what's the point?
There is not a racial gap there is a motivational gap
Explain. I understand what you mean instant gratification and whatnot. However, are you denying preference and outright denial for the majority of history in this nation.
@@Doggin27 allow me to Retort Black people are lazy.
I’ll give you one example
Back then when White Families applied for housing loans they got accepted but the federal bank would not approve loans Black families with a similar background applied for loans they where rejected
Causing them to rent homes as compared to owning . Fast forward decades later .the white family home has Appreciated ,they have equity and can now invest in more property etc
On the other side of the coin the same black family is still renting with zero equity and capital .
That’s only one example I have several .
Alhamdulillah 🤲🏿
People who dont get educated and lazy should have the same wealth as educated and industrious people. lol

Shut the. Fuck up. Didn't you just hear what the professor said? We have been systematically locked out of wealth by government. We are more EDUCATED than any other time in history and we are worse off than we were in the 1920's JIM CROW!!
Based on your embarrassing grammar, combined with your lack of punctuations, one would assume that you are the uneducated.
Very unorganized
