  • The internet is an “attention economy.” Websites sell your attention to advertisers and use sophisticated algorithms to personalize your feed. Myron Eby and Verlon Miller discuss the downsides of an internet built around selling ads, and encourage us toward some ways to combat those dangers by intentionally seeking good sources of information.

TV and Movies no matter how clean (or Holy) in appearance programs the mind with the kingdom of darkness principles, standards and values. All opposite of the Kingdom of God. It quietly feeds the self-godhood inside us and quenches the Holy Spirit. It doesn't matter what we watch. The internet can do the same.

I dare not to say the same to its entirety, there are Christian movies that are not hollywood made, just like there is real Christian music also (Sounds to Reign would be a positive example). So yes, it DOES matter.

@@clintonjameshuddleston-apo9385 I cannot find even on bit of evidence of anyone performing music for entertainment or anyone ever listening to music for entertainment. It's like celibrating yourself or other humans very day they entered the world. Only those who considered themselves gods sought such things. Can find any man of God in the New Covenant. Self endurance is self worship. Yes, I know. To the "christianity" of today it sounds horrible and laughable. But to the authentic original Christians who, like their old covenant past, lived a life of self sacrificing and restriction of pleasure and self will death daily. No human was worth celibrating or Gifting. It's hard to find anyone even "Kingdom Christians" who has the ability to understand that

@@newbirth7616 Thank you. I agree entirely, and I suppose I now understand what you mean. As far as music is concerned, you are right, it is not being made for entertainment, it is being made for a certain master. God or the devil. I do recall a time, before music was being recorded, that it was a part of life, rahter than being an escape from it. Certainly, today things have become harder due to the internet. However, we likewise must see the positive side. With the internet, teaching has become easier.
I however will say that making something that is in agreement with the will of God is a good thing. As for music, there are a few good worship channels. In mennonite circles, it are Sounds for Reign. Can you see anything wrong with that? I cannot. See Philippians 4:8.
I myself teach with a good sense of humor. I do this to show the hypocrisy of some who have not the ability to understand our beliefs.

@@newbirth7616 Plus, I would add that the sin of itself is manifisted in the inside first. James 1:14 points towards this fact. Bad actions and slothfulness are merely pointing towards the actual sin.

You guys talk about "echo chambers" without the word for it and mention that there are very niche parts of the internet and I agree that can be problematic at times (especially in politics) however for me personally that's often been a good thing as I've always been very punk (born in the wasteland/Ohio in the late 90s) and gay so printed media has always let me down when it comes to culture and ( less so but still) art. I really can't afford to pay to use social media cause I'm quite poor tbh but I only regularly use RUclips and a certain well know art social media platform that isn't Pinterest. As someone who can't pay for social media whenever there has been a added pay for service feature there tends to be a class divide (ex; LinkedIn, dating websites, etc.) of those who can afford the "premium" service those who can't which as a poor person I've never liked it because it's not fun becoming a second-class citizen. I don't mind ads as long as their respectful and I like to window shop even though I can't afford anything they advertise. I really like you guys mentioning how crazy expensive those computers are as it really does highlight on how evil big tech is in one sentence. :)

Thank you for the comment, Norry. I appreciate the thought you've put into this. It's a complex issue; we don't really like the way many platforms generate revenue through attention engineering and ads, but it does allow the platforms to be free to everybody, including those who couldn't afford to pay money.

One digital subscription, that I am surprised very few people use, is RUclips Premium. It eliminates most of the advertising plus gives you access to nearly the same library of music as Spotify or Apple Music. I especially like the family plan of YT Premium for $15 per month that allows you to share it with up to 6 total accounts. That works out to just $2.50 per account. I actually pay the $15 per month and share the service with 5 other family members as a Christmas gift that keeps giving through the year. 😅
