5.1 is the ultimate way to listen to music if its done properly and with matching speakers, very few people go back to 2 channel once theyve heard a good system, you need to learn how sound works before you start to make tracks, and learn how to use reverberation, delays and before you start have an idea which sounds you want going to which speakers, a properly mastered 5.1 track will sound identical on headphones in 2 channel mode, ie: 5.1=6 channels so each channel must peak in volume at 16.6%
Just want to put it out there that 44.1 khz is not the standard sample rate for film and video. It is the standard for music and audio but for film and video absolutely make sure it's in 48 khz.
Complete audio creation newb here but feel surely that I have a ear for that. Again a lame question, with this info from the video, could you think it is possible to convert existing stereo sounds from lets say any music and convert it to 5.1? Example epidemic sound audio music files!
Hi, theoretically you could possibly create a 5.1 version using multitrack but it is much easier to take 5.1 to stereo than it is the other way around.
I don't have a tutorial for that. Ideally in order to do it you'd need all the elements to assign them to the different channels and mix down where as you 'd be starting with an already stereo mixdown that you'd be having to try and split to re-assign the elements to other channels. You'd be better looking for 5.1 elements.
If I had the space, and the money, I'd love to buy a couple more speakers and play with this. Been dying to play with it to use its full functionality. But, for now, it would only be playing with it - I'd have to find some work that gets me using it!
This genuinely wouldn't be worth doing as to get true 5.1 effect you'd have to produce the work in 5.1 assigning as you mix to the different channels. Stereo work is already assigned left and right so you'd need the original stems to be able to create 5.1 effectively by re-assigning left and right to the relevant 5.1 channels.

Hey, I got a question. If I made a surround archive, do i need necessarily to play it with 5 devices or something like that? Or can I just reproduce it with a stereo device and it sounds good?
Excellent video and I can still apply it to my Adobe Audition CS5.5. Now the question: How do I save it out so that I can play it as a file of some kind on my surround sound system?
The driver is not for Audition, it's for your sound device. If you're using an interface then use the driver for that or ASIO for all, if you're using a built in soundcard then use the driver for that.
This didn’t work for me at all. When you moved past hard left or right (towards the back), I hear nothing. I have looked at everything (software settings, audio interface, etc.), nothing works. I’ve even switched to my iPhone and I don’t hear anything in the back on stereo headphones. What am I doing wrong?
Oooh I know this one! You're not watching on a device that supports 5.1. Headphones don't, for example, they just have 2 channels (stereo). And neither does your phone.
pretty simple, use a slight reverb, and duplicate the track so there is two on top of eachother, make the top r100 and the bottom L100 (left and right) and fade inbetween the top and bottom around every ten seconds by cutting the clips and fading in and out between each, of you want i could send you a picture of an 8D timeline

You cannot convert stereo to 5.1 as such, you’d have to create a new 5.1 session and allocated the various elements around the surround sound.
