    HUGE difference haha ! Shout out to you for doing another test. Not a lot of people understand Boost I.S. or when to leave it off. What's crazy is...I've never even turned E-stabilization to HIGH.. I guess because on the S5ii I always had the stabilized 24-105mm on there, and once that's paired with the E-stabilization on STANDARD, it was plenty smooth. More than enough. Now I'm gonna try setting it to HIGH on the S9 and see how I like it.

      I just had to test it out and see it for myself 😁
      Boost IS was on by default when I got the camera, so I just assumed it'd be best to just keep it on.
      Man... What a HUGE difference. I'm so glad you told me about this setting. It's just so much better than before.
      And I can't believe it actually looked better than A7C II even with the Boost IS on!

    Do you know what the crop factor is on the S9 with High Stabilzation on?

      I haven't been able to find the official number, but it seems somewhere between 1.35x- 1.45x ish to me.

      @@camera.mellow Did you make comparisons on screen (without editing) from the Lumix and the 7CII ??? I love when photographers make comparisons of raw photos before devoloping them. That's something that is more truthfull ! :) Hugs from distant Uruguay.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад

      I haven't made any photo comparisons yet, but I rarely shoot raw. I mostly do straight-out-of-camera jpegs as I'm mainly a Fujifilm shooter, and that's the whole reason I got into the system in the first place. So I'm probably going to stick to jpegs for any future reviews as well 😄

    Panasonic need 'wrapper' settings for IBIS for example ''Stairs', 'Walking' etc that turn on or off each IBIS function.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад +2

      I think they need a better name for the "Boost I.S." to begin with.
      "Boost IS" sounds like something you'd want to turn on for more intense IS movement. Not a static handheld shot.
      And like you said, more presets would be nice as well. It was pretty confusing to dig through menus for these IS settings.

    Thanks for the quick respond video! Get some rest in a air conditioned room for sure. Love to see that Panasonic are offering such great IBIS with different modes for different scenarios very effectively. Any brand that's close to this performance would be canon.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks so much! 😁
      I heard that it's coming sometime in September/October.
      The last I've heard about it is on L-Rumors website. It seems about double the size of the 26mm f8 MF lens, or half the size of 20-60mm kit lens. From the photos that were uploaded, it seems like it's going to be almost exactly the same size as the A7C2 + 28-60mm kit lens combination when it's mounted on the S9.
      I'll definitely be getting it and testing it out once it comes out.

      Thank you so much for your support!
      I really appreciate your comment about my video shooting style. I get lots of comments about the content of the videos, but I rarely get any feedback on the style or the aesthetics, so it's hard to judge for myself if I'm doing things correctly, and if I should stick to what I'm currently doing or change things for the better. So I really appreciate your feedback 😃
      I'm located in Suwon, South Korea, a suburb in the Seoul Metro area.
      It looks like I'm in a jungle or something in the video, but Korea has some extremely weathers, super hot and humid in summer, but super cold and snowy in winter.
      I shot the video at a local hillside park that's like 5 min away from my neighborhood subway station 😆

      @@camera.mellow it’s so beautiful! And happy to help! You are doing a wonderful and genuine job :) I have made videos/films for a long time - I recently quit my YT channel (although I am considering returning) so I know how much of a minefield it can be! I can only say, keep it enjoyable for yourself :) Funny I was planning a trip to Northern Japan this summer! But the hot weather scared me off 😅 So when I saw you sweating I thought - ‘that would be me!’ 🥵 Look forward to more videos!

      I love talking about tech gears, but I had no one to talk to here in Korea, so I thought I'd just start a RUclips channel and talk to people online 😆
      My day job requires me to sit at a desk for 10 hours a day, and I got three kids, so I don't really have a lot of free time. But, I'm putting in whatever spare time I get into this 'cause I find making videos about cameras way more enjoyable so far than actually taking photos with them haha.
      As for the weather, it's usually like 32 - 36 degrees in summer, but the actual heat index is like 38 - 44 degrees because of the extreme humidity. Sometimes it's at 90% humidity, so going outside is like walking into a sauna... But Japan is usually hotter than Korea. Yup. Don't visit Asia in summer.
      I just subbed to your channel by the way. Why did you quit RUclips?

I will go in Autumn/Winter - and maybe other asian countries too :) Thats great to hear! You sound very busy! But Im sure if you continue YT it may become your job! (Blessing/Curse) - Thanks for subbing! Erm, I made a video all about why I quit if you have time - but ultimately not in the right place to do it really. Im sure I will film more when I travel - And when I buy an S9! 😄

    Thanks cool dude. That looked like a really hot day to climb stairs. I am trying to decide whether to buy the S9 and only have a very small budget so your videos are very helpful and appreciated. Are you enjoying using it? I am interested to hear about that 'feel' you get for cameras and whether it's one you want to pick up. Also are you missing the lack of an EVF. Thank you for your time.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад +2

      I'm glad that you find the videos helpful.
      To be honest, in small part, I'm making the videos to convince myself to keep the S9. Otherwise I would've sold the camera long ago. 😆
      As much as I like the look of the photos and videos that I get from the S9, it's the ergonomics of the camera that bothers me. I just don't enjoy using it.
      But I gotta say, the "feel" is such a personal thing though. I've been a Fujifilm user for a long time, and most Fuji guys hate the X-H2S with a passion because of its anti-Fuji design..
      It's got a chunky grip and PASM dials instead of the usual Fuji control dial setup. It's like a Fuji soul trapped in a Canon body, and all Fuji fanboys hate it. But, I love it. Because it's the most comfortable Fuji body, and I get the Fuji colors without having to look like a hipster.
      So, yeah it's the opposite with the S9. I love what it can do, but I just hate using it.
      But after a month of owning it, I've grown to appreciate its quirkiness. So who knows, I might actually keep it once the 18-40mm pancake lens comes out.

      you can get the much much better S5ii for the same price, with better ergonomics and many more features. The only drawback is it is like 30% bigger.

  • @Wildridefilms
    @Wildridefilms 5 месяцев назад +3

    You can get away with the E stabilization set to standard for most cases. I find the E stabilization high to have too big a crop (around 40%) and also seems to have a little more jerkiness while panning as it seems to try and lock the frame, whereas the standard setting just tries to smoothen the image, and remove the wobbles at only a 9% crop.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks, that's good to know. I'll try the "STANDARD" mode next time when I compare it against another camera. I was wondering how big of a crop the "HIGH" mode incurs. It's really hard to find the exact crop factor mentioned anywhere online, but I think you are probably correct. It does seem to punch it close to 30 - 40% range.

    Never enable Boost IS when physically moving or even panning the camera while NOT moving. It's only for absolutely static shots. Also, if you're on a gimbal, you can safely leave it on as it won't be utilized. At least this is what I've noticed on the DJI RS4 with all my lenses (50/1,8, 28-200, 20-60)

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for pointing that out.
      I my other video (A7C II vs. S9 Image Stabilization Comparison) I shot all S9 videos with Boost IS on, and some of the viewers told me that I made a mistake in turning on Boost IS for walking shots, so that's why I made this video to check out the difference between Boost IS ON vs. OFF for moving shots.

    Hey, I'm really enjoying your videos. Keep posting the comparisons! After using both the Sony A7cii and Lumix S9 - what do you reach for more?

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! I’m glad you like my videos 👍
      To give you a straight answer, I like my Fujifilm X-H2S, Sony A7C II, Lumix S9 in that order.
      So, I prefer A7C II. Even though I’m getting used to Lumix S9’s quirkiness and poor ergonomics, I just don’t enjoy shooting with it.
      First off, A7C II is a lot easier to shoot one-handed, which is a must for me ‘cause I got three kids, and I never have both hands available to handle the camera 😆
      I originally got the S9 for its supposedly compact size, but it was a downgrade from my A7C II in terms of size because it’s actually bigger with any AF lens combination as you can see from my videos. So, I feel like I was sold on an empty promise. If I didn’t have an A7C II, I’m sure I’d be in love with the S9, but at this point, I’m just making videos to justify the purchase in my head.
      Hence the Image Stabilization videos. It’s the one thing that S9 does a MUCH better job over the A7C II, so I’m going to keep trying to discover its good sides, and hopefully come up with enough reasons to keep it 😂

    • @BenFox01
      @BenFox01 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@camera.mellowoh that’s tough!! I never really considered Sony until I saw your comparison about size! If IBIS wasn’t my main priority I would consider it! But atm I’m still leaning to S9.

    • @camera.mellow
      @camera.mellow  5 месяцев назад

      If you are going to shoot vlogs with it, and generally have a lot of walking shots, then S9 really tops the list I think. But I found shooting vlogs with DJI Pocket 3 to be a more enjoyable experience than using the S9 though.
