It's really not that creepy. It just feels like..... you're on a road.....leaving your old life and friends, and creating a new life with new memories. Or atleast that's how i feel the song is.
I remember first hearing a snippet of this in 1968 when I got the White Album. I always thought it was John singing. It's very haunting and it's great to hear the longer version .
Too bad they took this out of the White Album, it gives me a creepy vibe but it's still a good song. It makes me sad for some reason, even puts a tear in my eye. It's almost if Paul is longing to back to Liverpool, where 4 great musicians were born.
The way we take photos has never changed, but the process has. The only major difference from a photo you’ve taken on your phone to a photo some war journalist took 100 years ago in WW1 is how the photo developed. If you were to take a picture on a 100 year old camera and develop it with today’s technology, it would look better than the pictures on your phone.
Thank you for this video. Honestly. That fragment of a track has given me a feeling I could never really express ever since I listened to the white album for the first time. And now that I'm feeling more lost than ever.. I do want to go back where I came from
To answer the question....Can you take me back to where I came from...No. One can never return, once one takes LSD. You can never return...to that innocent state again. Expanding your mind...is like a time machine, that once used...is now broken...and you are stuck in whatever time warp you are in. One can never return.

The song was recorded on 9/16/1968. The song was taped during the recording of 'I Will,' a snippet of 'Can you Take me Back?' was included between 'Cry Baby Cry' and 'Revolution 9' on the White Album. ‘Can You Take Me Back?’ was take 19 of ‘I Will’.
I see quite a few comments referring to this having a creepy quality to it. I wonder if that's because you expect to hear "Number 9, Number 9, Number 9," kick in shortly after. If there is a creepy vibe for me, that would explain it. I just wonder if people would feel the same way if it preceded Good Day Sunshine or Hello Goodbye. 🤔 Anyway, I always thought it was cool little ditty and fit in quite comfortably at the end of Cry Baby Cry.

This excellent extract on the White album just before Revolution #9, has no official title; but it is one of Paul's finest moments imo! I love it, and improvise around the Em9 chord, and play it live myself... (sometimes) But what is it's official name? I mean Wild Honey Pie (which unlike most people I like) has a name and is about the same length as this!
Paul McCartney funny moments out now!! m.ruclips.net/video/x9uoo0Zi_vM/видео.html
There's something about this song that's eerie to me, something haunting but also strangely nostalgiac and calming
Huge modulation from low to high
and right before 'Revolution 9' too, those boys...
Very eerie..
Doomstalgia needs to be thing.
Same. It's so strange
Why is there something so unearthly beautiful about this.

I was so pissed when I saw the RUclips had removed this. Thank you so much for bringing it back. Now all I need is some good herb and I'm set

Paul McCharming well it’s at the end of cry baby cry, so they didn’t exactly take it out of the album.
@@cowbirdystorm Well on the album we only have a few seconds of this song, but here on this video we have the complete version which is longer.

Billie Stefan a much longer version of the Love mix they put on at the end of Come Together

No doubt Kelpy, so many of their songs are sinister butunder the radar because of their image.

Turns out footage from 1963-68 is clearer than my phones camera.. Nice.
You simply cannot beat film. Even if it's old and dusty it gets cleaned, rescanned, digitalized to HD.
Every single horror recording ever! 🤣
Film is better than digital.

Gotta love the Love album's version of this song!
I just love this version, Mary you rock!!!!

1:20 chills man
That exact part gives me chills as well. Few songs do that to me.
I would give so much to show this to them in 1954. Their reactions would be incredible.
54?
A 14 year old John and Ringo, 12 year old Paul, 11 year old George seeing this....their minds would be BLOWN.
One of pauls best.
This is actually a better mix than is available on spotify
Love this I was a little boy during this era and remember hearing this on the Radio . takes me back .
howard crowe this was never played on the radio this song is remix of a studio take of I will
Its as if Paul is pining for the anonymity of his pre-fame life here. When everything was simple and his dear mother was still alive.
