Is it possible that Turkey, a key NATO member, is breaking away from traditional Western alliances to make a daring move toward joining Brics? Brics, a group of emerging economies, has long stood as a counterweight to Western dominance.
Turkey’s recent request to join Brics signals a possible shift in global alliances and has certainly caught the attention of both Washington and Brussels. According to Omer Celik, the spokesperson for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party, the "process is underway," suggesting Turkey is making moves that could redefine its position on the world stage. But is Turkey merely hedging its bets, or is this a calculated action in a broader geopolitical strategy?
    Let’s find out.

I’m an American 🇺🇸 and I love my country, but not the politics. Like how most people feel in their own country. You love it but not the political part. Turkey should do what they need to do for their country and for their future. Those who disagree with what Turkey is doing are clueless and Turkey *has* the right to join whoever they want. If that means, it’ll better their future 👍

China does something right. And Russia also are independent from the west and it is a good thing. The world cant keep repeating itself and hope the world will be a better place. I am glad to see more and more Africans wanting to have control over their land and resources. Heres something off topic that you may find interesting. :)
The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird 'turkey'......
.....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :)
In the past 40 years 37 countries have changed their name, partially or fully.
Obviously one can not change the name of an apple or an orange etc in other languages,
but country names are like peoples' individual names, so if you're named John we don't call you Karen. :)
Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's.
The name it self has a suffix, '-iye', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to',
just like the Latin suffix of '-ia', which exists in such country names like
    Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Indones-ia etc.
Basically, the use of '-iye/-ia' is the same as the the use of '-land' suffix in country names like
Ire(Eire)-land, Po(le)-land, Eng(Anglo)-land and so on and so on.
Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia).
The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish been over 10,000 years is much older than Latin which is around 1300 years old.
Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) 'Türkiye'
    we got various spellings like;
    Turq-uía (in Spanish),
    Turch-ia (in Italian),
    Turq-uie (in French)
    Turk-ei (in German)
    Turk-ey (in English)
Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as turkey was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named turkey....
...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird 'Turkey Fowl' to define 'Turkish Chicken'...
....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc.
In time you don't get to call the harehound simply as Greek or you don't call the terrier Britirsh, or shepherd as simply German,
but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just 'Turkey' and later 'turkey', and this went on for hundreds of years.
Now in modern times, this caused confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on an atlas.
Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : )
So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : )
    Best wishes. ;)

THANK YOU FOR THE EXPLANATION. By what I have just read, it should always have been Turkiye in English and the mistake all ours. In Spanish, my native tongue, it has always been Turquía, which has nothing to do with a turkey, which is pavo. I will now adopt its correct spelling and pronuntiation in English. Thank you for your ethymological explanation. Cheers from the Dominican Republic.

Turkey's isolation by the west in general and the EU & US in particular, will inevitably force her to seek new alliance with the east. The long rejection of Turkey to join the EU will encourage her to be part of BRICKS alliance. Such a move will change the current economical structure of the world and cause instability.

EU = BRICS and EU don't wanna join to Türkiye many years, these days have a vs union, so Türkiye changed rotation slowly.
İf they don't wanna work with Türkiye it's their problems. We are center of the world who work with us can be happy and we can be happy, in EU situation we are not happy always EU happy always the EU want somethings, some rules, want Türkiye leave somewhere, want Türkiye giving some lands to Cyprus, Greek. Türkiye not a low level country, you cant take something give carrot and take.

It’s no surprise that Turkey is fed up with EU and seriously wanting to join BRICS.
Though she is a member of NATO which is a tool for US to control EU, she has made up her mind that economic growth is more important which BRICS surely can offer.

Reasons in order; (Last 8-10 years )
    1. Patriot missiles that were not sold according to Turkey's demands and S400s were purchased from Russia in return
    2. America's removal of Turkey from the F35 program, which Turkey was also in, and the application of military and economic sanctions
    3. America's silence regarding Turkey's 2016 coup attempt and keeping the terror leader in its own camp.
    4. America and the EU's visa embargo against Turkish citizens.
    5. Support and heavy weapons provided to terrorist organizations that Turkey has been fighting against for 40 years in Syria. (Backstabbing)
    6. Visa double standards applied to Turkish citizens.
    7. The EU's stalling of Turkey for 50 years.
    8. TL-USD imbalance that has caused economic trouble for the country
    9. Excessive concessions given to Greece.
I could list dozens of other reasons.
In other words, Turkey has done and is still doing everything it can for NATO. In return, they gained nothing but humiliation and alienation.

NATO and BRICS are totally different organizations. NATO is a hard core military alliance. BRICS is a loose, but important, economic alliance. The European Union is more similar to BRICS. The EU started as an economic alliance but then the EU bureaucrats took over and the EU wanted to control not just member state economies, they also wanted to control all trade agreements, immigration policies, and cultural issues. EU member states are no longer sovereign. Its become a bureaucratic nightmare.
