I’m really interested in the Katana 10.4, to use both as a WW kayak and in the sea for rock gardening and surfing. Only thing though, I don’t know when this product was last updated but, being a crossover kayak it’s also a bit of a touring one. That’s why it is great that it features a skeg a stern hatch and bungee cords on both decks, but I would like it to also have proper perimeter lines to grap onto like you would find in a sea kayak and also a locking system for the rear hatch. I’ve seen people having it “explode” and pop open while using it for rock gardening and the hatch got full of water because of that. These are not huge upgrades but by giving it this two touring kayak mods it would make the Katana feel even safer. Who knows, maybe for the 2020 season!
@@Patriotic327 No, I didn’t. I’m currently very happy with a Delta 12.10 sea kayak and don’t plan to get another one in the near future. But the Katana is a very interesting one and it would be my top 1 choice for rock gardening and casual WW kayaking. I still hope they’ll upgrade it with the aforementioned improvements.

What is the maximum height of the paddler to fit in katana 9.7 ?
Does this boat track straight on flat water in small lakes aslow flowing rivers. I'm looking for a quality made kayak that can handle lakes and light rapids . Although I'm not too far from the Cossatot , I know that one is dangerous for a beginner like me. They say it's class 4 & 5 when the water level is high. But I wouldn't attempt that unless was skilled. I've never been kayaking before, just canoeing as a teenager. I'm also looking for fitness , cross training to complement my cycling. But still fun nothing crazy.
I know this question is 2 years old, and probably too late to help you out, but I just got my Katana 10.4 a month or so ago and I love it. I've only paddled flat water (and choppy lakes) with it so far, and with the skeg down it tracks quite well. Looking forward to hitting some class 2-3 rapids with it in the spring (or maybe sooner).
@@WolfgerSilberbaerthis boat is epic i have even used it on class 4 to 5 here in norway its perfect for big water rivers if you have enough strength and a good paddle that can move lots of water like the werner shogun you can get some realy high speed over the waves i have both the 10.4 and the 9.7 i use the 10.4 for relaxed trips and the 9.7 for more challenging rivers just dont take any drops that go more than 2 metrees straight down with it and i recomend a silicone layer on the storage compartment behind the seat just in case mine started taking in lots of water there after a year of use everytime i swam it was totaly filled with water but the silicone was an easy cheap fix use it on both sides
