Oh man I'm so jealous. Wish I had a river like that around me. Well maybe I should be thankful instead. Cuz I'd never go to work. That was AWESOME. Thank you very much for sharing. Such beautiful scenery.
Man, I keep watching this video over and over. Makes me feel like I'm in that boat. I know that GoPro doesn't do justice to how gnarly the run actually was in sections, ha! Awesome video!
Cross over boat will work. But you will have more fun in a boat designed for that kind of water. And you'll probably out grow a cross over boat pretty fast. If your looking to do more white water.
Awesome video! I'm looking into getting the katana but cant decide on the 10.4 or 9.7. Is there a noticable difference in handling with a bigger or smaller kayak or is it mainly related to storage space?
@@StarGehzer I have the 9.7. I'm the same weight and 5' 9". I haven't tried the longer boat, but this one fits great. I had to move the thigh braces and the seat, but the Katana has features that make adjustments easy for fit so you can dial it in. My Katana has way better outfitting and adjustments than my Eddyline touring boat, ha! Nice seat too!! Hope you can get your hands on one. It's pretty tough right now.
man I really gotta get out there after seeing this! just curious if you dropped your skeg at all? also, is that the sherpa you were paddling? how do you like it and what length are you using?
Ranger77 love my Sherpa 197. I’ve used one for years. Nice transition from my Shuna that i use in the sea. No skeg on this run, but on runs with flat sections for sure.
Not Dan but i just got the dagger katana 10.4 and a XL skirt from Immersion Research and tried it out yesterday to find that it fits real snug. First time getting it on was really tough but after leaving it on a stretching it out for a little it was easier the next time. The cockpit size for the 10.4 is 95" circumference so on IR website it borders literally right between XL and XXL spray skirt size. I went with the smaller one for the tighter fit. Cheers!
I been in something close to that in the north Georgia mountains but not quite that strong...I want to kyack like that but I don't think I'm good enuff....I mostly do open water at Thurman lake in South Carolina...I watching your videos to try to learn how to get better and the videos are helping me and it just like being there.... Thank u Dan.
Hey Dan! Fantastic video, inspired me to get the Katana 10.4! The only trouble im having is adjusting the bulkhead. To ensure a snug fit I have to push it all the way into the the front on the 5th hole (4 holes free on my side of the nut), but honestly I can barely touch it with my feet. It was more comfortable at the 7th or 8th hole however I couldnt get the bulkhead to stay snug (too much space between the inside rim and the bulkhead). So should I just move my whole seat up so i can have my feet braced against the bulkhead? Thanks!
Dagger makes a fine boat and the Katana 10.4 might be the ideal cross-over kayak, but Dagger has needs better colors look than a tube of toothpaste. Jackson has some fantastic 2-tone colors like Ice Tea and Northern Lights. Dagger, please do something better and more inspired
@@HeadwatersKayak I have a question. Do u think a full wetsuit surf style would be okay to wear while white water kayaking? I know they are made for paddling and moving your arms. I wanna get a wetsuit for swimming but would be cool if I could use it also while kayaking.
George was my instructer in 2013 - i also bought 2 kayaks from headwaters then- great stuff -
He’s a great dude.
I think I'll stay in the lakes and lagoons 😁 even though it looks like fun, to wild for me lol

A big ole nope lol. Love the video. I love going slow and enjoying the scenery.
Really cool to see. Thanks for posting dan, come to Vancouver island anytime
Yee HAW from the sunflower state in NE Kansas!! This old mama will stay on the lake, but it was fun to watch!! Thanks Dan 🚣🌻🌾
What a perfect run. Great job guys, not insane. Just good fun. Woo hooo...
Yikes. Gnarly. That was awesome Dan.
Nice run bud i love those kayak
That looked super fun dan....
That was a good day. Water is still going off. We should do the whole run. So you can see the rest of it.
Thanks for getting our boy down the river safely.

Thanks man. I just moved down the street from this run so I hope to do a bunch more here.
So when can we expect the collab with Senders(ep01😉) Loved the video Dan, it looked like an absolute blast! Thx for sharing the fun! Be well.
Would be interesting to wear and see a heart rate monitor whilst doing this, Good video Dan.. you did really well, footage was perfect.
looks like fun
I wouldn't mind learning how to paddle to the point I could do that. It looks like loads of fun.
Travis Whitworth so good. It’s like dancing with the river.
I love my dagger and vibe
Madness.
This looks like the perfect training grounds. Would love to paddle this
Lucky to have this run in town.
Awesome video!
Do you recommend a cross over boat or river runner for class II-III water with some flatwater between rapids? thanks!
Cross over boat will work. But you will have more fun in a boat designed for that kind of water. And you'll probably out grow a cross over boat pretty fast. If your looking to do more white water.
Im really considering the katana 9.7 but im a small guy 5'5 135 . Do you think it would be a good fit?
Yep
What spray skirt do you recommend for the Katana 10.4?

Frank Ruiz yes the small one in a better paddling boat. But I’m 220lbs so the small one is just a touch small for me.
@@HeadwatersKayak if you weighed 170 which Katana would you choose?
9’7” for sure.
@@HeadwatersKayak thanks..

You have to be sore after a ride like that. Great video
I dod that same run with gorge on my first trip too!! 2013
So how do you get back to the truck at the end?
Cool
Anyone know where I could find a preowned/used one of these? I am on the hunt.
오 강이 멋지내요

How is this boat on flat water? Is it heavy to paddle?
I paddle my white water boats every where. Lakes, rivers, ocean, bass pond...

im trying to find a dagger katana 10.4 in ohio but everything is sold out. sad facee
Do you remember the flow that day?
I don’t sorry man.
Don't remember the exact number. But looking at the video. I would say it was about 250-260ish CFS that day.
Hey i wanna get myself a katana soon. I am 196cm in height do you think that i would fit?
Yes. Sit in both sizes to see what fits you best
That looks like a good place to get into trouble.
Not a place you want to be if you don’t know what you’re doing. But if you have the right training it’s a blast
Just as I was wondering about smashing into rocks you went and hit that one at the end. Great video and looks fun, just not for this guy!

I’m guessing my Pelican Trailblazer wouldn’t make it very far in those waters....
Tom Kilzer haha probably not.
My butt puckered up several times in this video. Good grief
I’d loose my paddle..
I’d be yelling for my mommy.
When You jumped, in are you wearing a dry suit or a wetsuit?
Dry suit for sure.

Do the same run in a feelfree.
Yea no thanks!
