Another great video, that day I went to Croton Harmon and was onboard Metro North 870 going back to Grand Central!!!! Lol!!!!! I might add I got on train 733 to Croton Harmon. I stayed there for about an hour then I went back to Grand Central. I left Grand Central about an hour and 1/2 before you did on 739.
In 2001 a friend from Seattle sent me a VHS tape on the Hudson Subdivision including the Amtrak Turbo Train cab ride. I could never be there to see those trains close to me, it is my main dream in life, believe me. And now I could find your channel and I am enjoying this video almost feeling like I were there. My smartphone screen is excellent, so I can see the perfection of the images your camera captured. You just gained one more viewer.
funny enough Metro North announced a new heritage unit program, they plan to have a New York Central HU, a Conrail HU, and a Penn Central HU, they currently have a P32AC-DM in the old paint scheme the FL9's wore, ofc all the units are gonna be wrapped but still, Metro North Heritage Units :)
I was up in Arsley on Hudson on Tuesday it’s a beautiful train station and saw Conductor Paul as well in Dobbs Ferry where I saw a couple New Haven Heritage coming through, very scenic line on the Hudson.
For all fans of Amtrak's Empire Corridor trains via CP 12 Interlocking: NY-ALBANY Empire Service [3:51] [16:10] [26:04] [26:30] | NY-CHICAGO Lake Shore Limited [7:29] [24:35] | NY-BURLINGTON Ethan Allen Express [15:08]
Poughkeepsie, being my home station and living 5 minutes away, I wish we would get updated train cars or more importantly electrified lines! The upper Hudson is very neglected. Maybe not as much as the west of the Hudson lines, but we pack trains and have super express. We need new cars.
i'm impressed again your videos are amazing and educating very much more scenic on the hudson line on metro north and amtrak itself but i saw more of metro north than amtrak that time you went railfanning but no judgement on that issue. i'd seen a few CSX trains back in january on the harrison station in metro north very goodfor me at night.
I know the metro north platforms tend to be shorter than the lirr platforms, but I wonder why they never expanded them. Surely the ridership would justify 12 car trains. I’m guessing it would be too expensive at this point to expand the platforms.
Thank you for this excellent video ! I agree with your commentator from Poughkeepsie it really is time for the push-pull stock on that route to be replaced. I wonder if it would be possible to have some bi-level cars like those on the LIRR, which would be a huge improvement ! Perhaps the Park Avenue tunnels would prevent this ?
So many double cab car trains! Why do a lot of metro north shoreliners have trains with 2 or 3 cabcars? dont they only need one? Ive seen them a lot more often now rather than earlier so it was cool to see the controls of the train on the second cabcar
Tim, you start off by describing your tickets for this trip, but don't give the actual cost. Like you, I am a senior, so what was the cost of your tickets that day?
Probably my favorite Hudson Line station. The views of the river are beyond compare
Excellent footage! The CXC horns from across the grand Hudson River was a great addition!

Very cool!
Great video as always!
Thanks again!
The hudson line is probably my favorite Metro north line, good video.
Nice one ……

Wow Ghost Engineer was sure happy to see you.....too bad I didn't see that NH locomotive with the Penn Central decal on it lol
He is always deliriously happy to see me 😂😂😂
@@3985uprr well you must be a good friend to him
Great Job As Always! 😀
*27:08** - What a sunset 🌇*
6:20 I love that little "mmph" of disapproval you gave the engineer for that little toot! 😂
I was just clearing my thrust. 😀
Great spot. Thanks

Same I was there yesterday
Man - you had a Bulldog day - lots of great trains - thank you for posting
Thanks for the tip on the ticket discounts. New Haven to Montauk next.
I always enjoy vids from my home county...especially on the Hudson line and also New Haven line (where I grew up...)
Great video. Many years ago I rode this line from Peekskill to GCT. RDC Peekskill to Croton/Harmon and MU to GCT.
Thanks Tim😀💚
Thanks, Tim!
Beautiful view 😊😊😊

Any serious talk of Hudson Line service into Penn Station?
Hopefully
Amtrak is faster on the Hudson line in Metro North as well
Wrong. There is only 1 set of passenger speeds and many times when amtrak shows up late, they are stuck behind a MNR local and creep along
I know the metro north platforms tend to be shorter than the lirr platforms, but I wonder why they never expanded them. Surely the ridership would justify 12 car trains. I’m guessing it would be too expensive at this point to expand the platforms.
I would say because metro north runs so many trains, they don't need to be as long.
We sound similar!

Why aren't the P32's in third rail mode through here? There is third rail electrification
The locomotives work better in diesel mode. an electric mode they aren’t very fast or reliable
You should go out 4/3. Amtrak announced recently that they’re restoring full service to Montreal on the Adirondack that day!
Only northbound.
Southbound next day
8:32 that ship is flying.
Wonderful! How do you know which train is coming next, especially the equipment ones?
Group chat info
Why does metro north sound there horn when approaching a platform but the LIRR doesn't?
MN policy. Obviously not a NY State policy. It is in New Jersey
Do you know why Metro North blows the horn approaching the station but the LIRR doesn't? I always wondered why that is.
Probably company policy or its a special instruction in the rulebook.
Oh ok
Are the third rail shoes on the MTA north different from the LIRR?
That’s underrunning third rail
14:59 Tim predicts the future.!!!
How about that, huh? Back then there was no clue about anything like that ever happening. If I have any more premonitions, I will let you know.
@@3985uprr that would be *AWESOME.!*
@@3985uprr i have one myself: 220 will be the NYC Heritage Unit, and will be revealed in the not too distant future.
Trains on MN seem much shorter than LIR
The New Haven line has long trains.
MNR runs more trains more often than LIRR did and therefore we don't need 12 car trains.

Used as coaches. They don’t necessarily have to be controlling a train.
@@3985uprr but why cant they put regular coaches? Why do they use cab cars?
How come there is no third rail on one of the tracks?
They use the diesels on that track. Many of the trains use diesels so the other 3 tracks suffice for mu trains
Why doesn't Track 1 have a 3rd rail?
Good question.
What is the longest non-stop run on metro north?
GCT to Beacon. I had mentioned that
Is there any freight on that line?
At night
Tim, you start off by describing your tickets for this trip, but don't give the actual cost. Like you, I am a senior, so what was the cost of your tickets that day?
8.25 LIRR 6.25 MN. Cheaper than $20 combo ticket
Is this a flag stop station ?
Regular stop
@@3985uprr oh ok 👍🏽
