Sadly companies are profit driven. Companies definitely use at least some amount of recycled plastic in their products. But not all companies have the technology to use recycled plastic in their products. It is also possible for recycled plastic to be more expensive than producing new plastic hence why some companies might not use a lot of recycled plastic. Also companies have very high quality standards and recycled product can create lower quality plastic in the production process that companies may not be able to sell.
Not all single use plastic products are valued the same. Some have more economic and societal value than others. For example, the plastics used to package and preserve easily perishable grocery products like meat and yogurt have more economic than straws and plastic bags.

Not only can they not be removed from the body, it is also chemically reactive and can disrupt the hormones and normal function of the cells.

Some mention of tumors and cancer but they were not caused by plastic. Nothing proved or observed about toxicity in humans. Mostly it was about how plastics enter organisms but little about how they exit.....they certainly are not retained. And, as usual, it is speculation throughout, indeterminate, and calls for more research.....more munny.

In fact, from the article "Despite the toxic effects observed in the in vitro models, no obvious severe toxicity was observed in liver, duodenum, ileum, jejunum, large intestine, testes, lungs, heart, spleen, and kidneys of mice following oral exposure of a mixture of microplastics [139]." Some mention of tumors and cancer but they were not caused by plastic. Nothing proved or observed about toxicity in humans. Mostly it was about how plastics enter organisms but little about how they exit.....they certainly are not retained. And, as usual, it is speculation throughout, indeterminate, and calls for more research.....more munny.
@7CAJONEZ first, im glad i found someone that reads stuff and you actually seem to have gone a bit deeper than me. i didn't bother to check their sources. second, there's nothing wrong with researching something unknown. microplastics are everywhere and we need to understand them.
still, from what i remember, the molecular interactions of microplastics are still useful and (judging from what you said) i don't see how the methods invalidate that part of the review. intake of microplastics was also useful information. I'll read more into it and check some of the references. thanks for your insight.
