- With over 60,000 urban refugees and a continuous influx of newcomers escaping the turmoil in Somalia, the Somali community in Uganda has grown significantly. In this video, I interview their acting chairperson, Mr. Khalif Mohammad, as I explore the reasons behind their migration - from seeking safety and stability to embracing the opportunities and warm welcome that Uganda provides.

The Nubians did not arrive in Uganda at the same time as the Somali people, contrary to what Mr. Khalif is suggesting. The Nubians were brought to Uganda by Captain Lugard of the IBECO at a different time. The Somali people came to Uganda later. Also..., the Nubian people were organized military personnel who assisted the British in colonizing East Africa. ..As a token of appreciation, they were granted a settlement in Uganda. It's worth noting that while the Nubians may not have possessed the same level of statecraft knowledge, the British were inclined to ensure that Uganda remained under their control. Mr Khalif needs to get his facts right..
Uganda is so welcoming, and Somali people are not hostile like I expected them to be, they are really good and hard working here in Uganda. Thanks for the video
They're friendly people, and ofcourse Ugandans are known for their warm welcome. 😊
That’s why Uganda is in the state it’s in now. Y’all are to docile
You will understand that Somalis people are good when you are in Somalia. They're amazing people really. By the way i wondered to find Somalia pastoralists have same similarities as ours in Western Uganda. Cattle keepers, so amazing.
Why are they killing Bantu speakers in Somalia?

Foreigners can own land in Uganda. The only difference is that foreigners can own land under leasehold while citizens can own freehold or lease.

Oh wow... We are happy to have you in Uganda. Hope you love and enjoy the country.
I hope President Joe Biden Will reconsider Uganda on the issue of AGOA renewals. President Museveni created a stable model country in the humane treatment of refugees from our troubled region and on peace keeping missions in general and on that front Uganda should be rewarded with prefrencial trade opportunities and not wholesale condemnation on what's essentially an internal legislative issue.
Let's hope so, although from the look of things, he appears not to be on good terms with the US. .
Always here to explore😊😊

We Ugandans we love Somalis , they love us we married them , we are brothers and sisters
That's the way of humanity and Ubuntu, with that perception we can create our own utopia in Africa.
You marry who😂

It can’t happen. you have not reached that extent of marrying them😂😂😂
