What's an extended period of time ? Like someone standing in front of a CNC machine, 8hrs a day, 5-6 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year. For Years. Something like that? And actually doing something too ?
The arm is fake; which provides the steel extension to his torso, the shovel and iron interface provides the strength to allow him to swivel on the welded perch. If you notice; when he gets in position everything is done with his right hand, the left hand is fixed and effectively the foundation for the body attachment.
You guys are both blind, you can clearly see both his arm and his head moving. The reason why he doesn't move them much and why the movements are stiff is because he has a metal frame underneath his jacket supporting his body, and going into the shovel through his left arm sleeve. Now, resting with your body against metal is pretty uncomfortable, so minimal movements allow him to stay up there longer and avoid injuring himself.
The thing i find amazing is how they constructed the frame to be so strong as to support a person with a huge amount of leverage in a seemingly weak fulcrum point. Ie the end of the Spade.
His body is strapped into a frame that goes all arround him. The leverage and weight is supported by steel pole. He is balanced and "hanging" inside the fitted frame. Prolly took sone time to weld it and fit it to his body shape and he built the clothes all around it. Pretty cool.

Allow me to comment from the perspective of a qualified physics teacher, upon the method which is most evidently being used here. We can achieve so called "magnetic levitation" using opposing magnetic 🧲 fields. This is already in practical use on monorail MAGLEV trains, for example. By itself, the system is unstable and wants to jump sideways. Therefore we need a way to stabilise it. There are various methods of stabilisation. In this case this man is using the rigid handle to stop himself drifting sideways. This requires some discipline, and clearly he has practised. The touch pad on his shovel controls and fine tunes the magnetic field to create just the right equilibrium between magnetic force and his weight. The large box underneath contains the batteries and the controllable electromagnet. His fancy suit and clothing contain magnets oriented opposite to the magnetic 🧲 field in order to repel . His assistant is also helping set conditions . Pay particular attention to the stage where he first steps down from the top of the ladder right to the pre-calibrated position...right where an equilibrium is established between Fw (Weight force down) and Fm 个 (Magnetic force up). There is a moment of uneasy adjustment right at that point when he steps off the ladder down to that closely chosen and calibrated spot just below the top of the ladder 🪜.... 🙄
