I forgot to mention-one of the downsides of living in Mendoza is that it's in an earthquake zone. There was a huge earthquake back in 1861 that practically leveled the city and caused a lot of deaths. These big quakes don't happen often, but small tremors are pretty common. Most of the time, you don’t even feel them, but they remind you that Mendoza is on shaky ground. So, it's something to keep in mind if you're living here.

I am from the US and thinking about moving to either the Philippines or Argentina so this maybe a good question to ask you. Which country do you think is best with a budget of about USD1,600 x month? I was thinking the Philippines because of how far the dollar goes but since I speak Spanish as well I would consider Argentina.
Hey Michelle, I’d say the Philippines might be the better choice right now. Inflation there is pretty stable, around 5.8% in 2024, so your money will stretch much further. On the other hand, Argentina is a bit chaotic when it comes to finances. With an annual inflation rate of 193%, prices are constantly going up, so it’s tough to stick to a budget. So, why not enjoy the island vibes and lively city life in the Philippines for now? When Argentina (hopefully) calms down, you can always dive into its Latin European charm later on😄
If I come to Argentina on a student visa to learn Spanish and stay in a hostel, how much will it cost me there? can I afford my living and food expenses to work there part or full time ? pls pls reply it will help me a lot and this is my life turning point.
Hi! It’s advisable for foreigners to work online instead because the salary in Argentina is very low. You can definitely come here to learn Spanish by the way
We decided to live in Argentina to explore South America and experience what it's like here. The cost of living is reasonable, and we were also interested in the option to eventually get citizenship. It just seemed like a great opportunity overall!
Can you do a podcast with someone who lived in 2 year in Argentina and get Argentina citizenship by residency not by child or wife ? How much the processing time take? Can brown or black people get Argentine citizenship, as the decision is on the judge and some people have bad experience with Argentine people being black or brown ? I have heard they discriminate against people of color or weaker passport. Sometimes judge don't grant citizenship or delay the process if someone is brown or black or from a country with weaker passport. None of them are my experience and got all those from reddit or from other forums. I want your say on this, is this just internet hate or actual situation in Argentina?
Hey! I actually know some Senegalese and Haitian people living in Mendoza who’ve gotten Argentine citizenship-some through their kids, and others just by living here long enough. So yeah, it’s definitely possible for people of color or those from countries with "weaker passports" to get citizenship. Argentina has laws against discrimination, like Ley N° 23.592, which makes it illegal to discriminate based on race or nationality. So everyone should be treated equally in the process. The courts usually say citizenship processing takes up to 18 months, but from what I’ve seen, it can be faster. Some friends I know got theirs in 6 months to a year, as long as their documents were all in order.
as you are Filipino, you can get Spanish citizenship in 2 years and your husband also can get Spanish citizenship my marriage. Why you choose Argentina?
I'm actually half Filipino, half Moroccan, and we had a tough time getting a Spanish visa through the Schengen system. A few years ago, we were even denied an Australian visa, even though all our documents were in order. Honestly, I felt like the person handling our documents might have been biased. But we got approved for an Argentine visa without any issues, so that’s why we decided to come here! We'd probably aim for Spain next since having an Argentine passport allows visa free to Europe 😁
