For the last 3 years or so, Lu has been one of, if not the best, on ball defender in the NBA, but has yet to make an All NBA Defensive Team of any type. Crazy. So good to see he is getting some recognition that all us Thunder fans have known for a long time.
I think the sad reality is that it is harder to get noticed when you aren’t on a team making deep playoff runs. But after how he defended Ingram, Luka and even back to Harden in the bubble that I think he is finally going to start getting the recognition he deserves.
His story is just crazy to me, the way that Lu Dort built his career essentially from the ground up and established the identity of the NBA's most annoying pest defensively is really inspiring to me, he may not have made an all-defensive team, but a lot of NBA players think he is one of the 5 best defenders in the world and they're probably right.
I totally agree on how crazy his story is. I was actually planning to do a video in the next month or so about his offensive evolution to become a major shooting threat today.
I know the Thunder’s actual channel has one where they talk about his path to the NBA. I’m looking to do one about his shooting/offense in the next month or so!!
I find the best way to beat this kind of coverage is to have ingram set offball screens and set him some off ball screens since dort doesn’t wanna switch off if he sets good screens his teammates should in theory get open also It’s easier to run without the ball so off ball screen should make it easier to create at least a little separation
Yeah, him moving off the ball definitely was his easiest path. Unfortunately the Pelicans just didn’t have many release valves that the Thunder had to respect to really help off him when he passed. Luka obviously is infinitely better than BI, but you saw in that series how massive it was for Kyrie, PJ Washington and DJJ were just in terms of giving some floor spacing to Luka.

All defense is basically an award given to people who have reputations of being good defenders
Thanks for tuning in!! Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for topics you would like me to hit on and I will check them out!

Another sensational intro vid by Michael Martin. He is the KING! Also loved the Macho Man bit. Ofcourse another great breakdown too.
I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed it

Best on ball defender in the league, and has been for multiple years. People only see it now because the thunder are back to playing meaningful games
