The DJI Mini Ultimate Prop Shootout of the Century! The Master Airscrew ended up sweeping the competition, but it was so close that I had to look at price and determine if the tiny improved performance of the Master Airscrew was worth almost a 50% price increase. I honestly made this the most fair performance test possible. I wanted to see if there truly was any way to improve performance.
Speaking for myself: “better performance” would simply be better battery life. I think the DJI Mini is already a pretty quiet drone. And I’m not concerned about better handling because this is a flying camera used to capture beautiful images, its not a video game. I don’t need turbo handling performance for my DJI Mini.
But…….I absolutely understand this is a hobby. It’s SUPER fun to change parts and put on wild accessories and run tests with our drones. That is ultimately why I created this prop shootout.
The DJI Mini 3 drone is coming. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s a full redesign or if we can still use these props and accessories with it.

@@TedNemeth Pre-ordered mines from Best Buy,, Believe release is the 29th,,, that's the date they showed me.... I did mines at 10:22,,, it was available at 10:00 a.m. I literally have only seen 1 other Drone Pilot in my City ,,,and last I heard he was selling his Drone... Sad as it sounds I may very well be the only person here to Pre-order a Mini-3...
I have to disagree.... I have some tri blades and they are way way better in wind! They have a nice lower hum than any blades I have tried. Also I find the drone more responsive. Maybe you have a different set than me but gotta point that out for people that wanna try them.

@@TedNemeth Yeah, it was super silly, but a little bit of humor is great in this kind of video. Yeah, I fly the Mini 2 on all my videos, I also have the Air 2 S, but regulations make it kinda difficult to fly it in most of the places I fly

@@TedNemeth Yeah, I'll be using the Air2S for some professional work this year, that said, the Mini 2, and the coming Mini 3, will be more than capable for some shots in built up areas

I know it sounds good but some of those props were made for the mini 2. They were made for the original mini
Your intro was amazing and I love your personality. You definitely put a lot of it into your video and I appreciate that. I would have loved to have seen you flying the drone more in the video and seen the props on the actual drone during the comparison to cut between instead of you just talking over them on a table.
The stark difference between how interesting you were in the beginning of the video and how boring you were describing the test was so vast. Not trying to rag on you, Just maybe trying to help you improve if you wish. If not, it's your channel.

3:41 is that blood on/in the motor? i been paranoid about the open design on these minis and something getting in there.
I know it was super fun but the screws that was set with those props actually strip out the main two router

Dave that is epic mate. Many thanks. Your latest upload was truly stunning. I had to google where that was exactly. Lots of breweries showed up on the search. Beautiful part of the country. That big sensor and 5k footage of the 2S is perfect for that big beautiful landscape.
Yeah the Air 2S biggest advantage is in low light but during the day, the Mini 2 does an amazing job and I take it everywhere just in case since it's so small and easy to take a long.
Thanks for potentially saving us all a whole lot of wasted money! I'm still on my original set after 14 months.
Ha! yes me too. Original set like 1 year later. But people LOVE to accessorize in their hobbies. Guys putting stickers on their drone and stuff.

I also appreciate you didn't go through the finger up Subscribe - finger down for Like Button dance that all the clones are now doing and you keep it as interesting as discussing propellers can be . . . . {cough, cough}.
I have to say, my ears pricked up when you said the MAS props get a PLUS for being LESS maneuverable! Would MAS have scored a plus if they were MORE maneuverable also?
Hmm, they are less so than the others but score better. I just don't get it. It was a maneuverability test right? Shakes head. Anyway I paid a lot more than you did in the US so I will not be buying any more of these. They are okay but I wonder if the pro bias for MAS I am picking up on the net generally is partly because they are a good ol' American company.
I didn't see anything actually flying with these props
DJI, being a high caliber brand in my book, i would tend to stick with DJI brand accessories. Except for stuff like prop holders, or carrying cases. My mini 2 is only a couple weeks old and i still have the spare props. But if i need any i'll buy stock DJI unless something in the future changes my mind. Thanks to folks like you who take the time to test this stuff out.

The Master Airscrew seems the only one rhat can argue a performance upgrade. I exempt the disco lights from performance, thays not what they are for. They should be less efficient, but... Disco...
So I see three options here. Stock. Air screw stealth for a tiny upgrade... Or disco.if that's your thing. The other replacements offer no advantage over stock.

Great review , I only run DJI or Master air screw , I don’t find much difference at all between them , MAS comes fast from Amazon so prefer these as a replacement

In my opinion the MINI 2 OPERATES at different stages of performance depending on (gps, RC signal,battery life, gyro, wind speed ECT.) ALL this information is processed within the MINI 2 motherboard while in flight..
I Own Three DJI mini 2s ... sometimes some preform better than others and vice versa (flight time,speed,) I've personally noticed the 3 blade props can get my mini 2 at max speed 38 mph definitely faster than Stock props.
Wow I bet you are correct about the algorithm constantly making adjustments to the performance to promote battery life. Just like in modern performance cars. You have 3 Minis?!?!

Some have already used replacements off the DJI CARE REFRESH , and sometimes when I receive a replacement or a new drone, performance varies alot , until after a few flights then they seem to even out. Thanks for Reply

This review is very detailed for anyone not sure just what they want to use. The DJI props (Amazon) are $ 25 for a full set, and I bought a set of aftermarket (16 props) for $11 and they work just as well. I have been eyeing the (orange) Master Airscrew because I want a farther range of vision and not much else and they are still a few dollars cheaper than the DJI props. 🚁
Been using the master aircrew for years....love em. They just have a more comfortable sounding hum to them and the drone just feels more solid in the air. Just my experience with the spark and Mavic 2 zoom. Mostly with the spark it just seems more fluid in flight.
hey Scotty! I agree with you. When you say it feels more solid in the air, i feel that too and I THINK…its from the drone being less “twitchy” with the Airscrew props than the stock props.
They are slightly thicker and larger
I agree, an extra 5 euro's to make a 400 euro drone fly better isn't even a debate. And it looks great too imho.

Nope. I'm calling b******* because the fourth one is made for the original mini it really have to take a look at that screw that's getting put into your drone same thing with the second one the red white and blue one it's not the same

hey Brian! DJI has massive resources for research & development, more than anyone else. I believe they develop the best props.
And it’s one less thing to think about…..wondering if there’s better. quieter props to “upgrade” to. Thats just a distraction from actually improving cinematography.

hey thanks for watching and commenting. You use the word “scam”. I think thats a bit harsh. Some people say they actually notice a favorable difference on some of these after market props. Is it a placebo effect? Ha! Maybe. Doesn’t really matter though. This is a super fun hobby and people LOVE to accessorize in any hobby.

I see they now make carbon fiber props. My thinking (opinion) is that I don’t want a stronger prop. If I hit something I WANT the prop to break way. I think that puts less stress/jolt on the motors. If the props are stronger and you hit something…then the props don’t break and that suddenly STOPS the motors and puts stress on them.
Make sense? Just a hypothesis.

I really liked this test. Just ordered the BTG ones in red and white w/o the blue stripe in the middle. I think i'll mix them. The white ones on the front and stock ones on the back.

What material are the master air screws? Usually swap my props to a carbon fiber prop for the simple fact that the shooting I do usually involves tight spaces and the carbon prop will not break and your done will stay in the air if you make contact with a tree brach or other light small object.

Not surprising the last two took down the battery life, the three blade prop is more mass to throw around with an extra blade, needing to push more air and the lighted one is probably off balance a bit and also has more mass.

For the battery test: use a controlled environment a.k.a. inside somewhere. The wind plays a HUGE part in testing, even when you don't think there is much.

Nice vid. I don't understand why so many are so bothered by the sound or the pitch of their drone. I want improved performance and speeds and If I get that I don't really care what it sounds like.
I absolutely agree. When the drone is 20 feet away you can’t tell pitch or a few decibels

Unfortunately “stealth” does not exist when propellers of any kind are involved because they need to spin at a high enough rate to move enough air to lift and propel the aircraft. Moving that much air with a spinning prop will always be noisy. With drones….the word “stealth” is just a marketing gimmick. All these props are within just a few decibels from each other. Practically identical. The pitch of each is only slightly different as well, but nothing is even remotely close to the broad term of “stealth”.

Would love to see one more piece to the testing...longevity and strength. Reviews from many people on some of these props seem to show that some of them don't last very long. But I'd love to see a "scientific" test to show actual strength and longevity.
