One of the best Gimp photography tutorials I've ever seen. Not only well shown and illustrated how to do something, but also why. It would be great if you could do a larger series on portrait editing in Gimp. It would also be great to see a "dramatic/contrast" B&W editing.
Thank you very much for the kind compliments and supporting my RUclips channel! I'm glad that you found value in the video I made. Thanks for the suggestion on editing in GIMP as a series I do plan to put out more videos on GIMP so look forward to those. And I do have an image that would be perfect for a B+W edit.
It's great that you made this video for GIMP. Everyone isn't using Creative Cloud/Photoshop. Clear video, you definitely don't want that fake look when doing skin retouching.
I'm so glad that I found your channel TMIDD!!! You're an inspiration and I love learning new things on GIMP, and improving my craft. I love the tone of your voice and your explanation, and walk though, so easy to follow through!!!
@@TMIDD I mostly use Lightroom - but yes, some photoshop. Have a bunch of others too, Topaz, Luminar, PSP, etc - but I'm really not doing much editing.
A little tip: the filter "Wavelet decompose" does exactly that, replacing the initial blur filter and layers operations, and you have even more control.
Very interesting and detail video and thanks for sharing ; while you use darktable in conjunction with gimp , what workflow you suggest , provided we have to do basic corrections, primary clr grading, secondary clr grading & retouch..
Hi, new to your channel! Love your content. I work in Lightroom and was wondering if I followed your tips in this video how I would go about bringing it back into Lightroom? I started with a raw file and saved as tiff to bring into gimp and now trying to go back to Lightroom without quality loss. I would love to use both programs together.Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks✌️
@@TMIDD Thanks Tmidd, made it as far as the healing brush but mine doesn't seem to do anything. Followed your steps and even wrote them down on paper. Any idea why the healing brush doesn't seem to do anything?
You may need to the drop down within each tool, sometimes they are embedded into one tool and when hover over the tool and right-click it shows more options.

My exact reason for still creating content geared towards those who don’t use photoshop, Lightroom, capture one etc 💪🏽💪🏽
Clear and detailed 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Great job as always. This is where I need to improve, skin retouching.
You can do it! Skin is the key!

Welcome aboard! Im glad I could help out.
You do amazing work bro. Gonna have to update my Gimp. Thanks for the tutorial.
No problem 👍, blow the dust off and see what you can do. Do you use photoshop?

Nice photo and really cool edting with GIMP. You're really good with the photo editing !
Thank you so much 😀
Your voice is soothing
I might need to start a voice channel for late night white noise and helping people sleep 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the great tutorial. Just wondering if you're using a Wacom pen tablet, or a pen tablet of any kind, or just the mouse?
Yes I do have a wacom tablet but for this tutorial I used a mouse. The tablet is much more efficient!

Absolutely agree thanks for posting that here. I’m making a video on that method as well soon! Thanks 🙏🏽
@@TMIDD GIMP so powerful.. I am not sure if PS's got the wavelet decompose..
Great Video! How do you find this compares to photoshop for frequency seperation? Also have you used wavelet decompose? Thoughts? Thanks✌️
I prefer photoshop just because of the flexibility but within GIMP I would say wavelet decompose is the best option for great results!

Thanks for the support. I would save your final edits as a tiff and open it back in Lightroom .

thanks for having me lol
Anytime, we need round 2 👀
I don’t have the healing tool

Got it! Thanks!
