I've been watching gimp editing related videos for months. This is hands down one of the most helpful tutorials on improving portraits. I love the way you explain how to use layers to improve on each element in the picture. Great job. Also, didn't realize that you can edit raw files in gimp with Darktable. So useful!
I'm glad you found it useful! I've been using gimp for years and still do, its a great replacement for photoshop. Layers are extremely important and useful. Glad I could help, if you have any other suggestions on GIMP related topics I could cover drop them in the comments. i just recently started showing how I edit photos since a lot of people were curious. Thanks for watching!
@@TMIDD Please do more portrait editing videos! Also, I'm interested in how to pose for an outdoor portrait shoot and best ways to setup the camera. I recently had an old Pentax P3 35mm camera repaired and I'm starting to shoot film again. I've been using the latest Darktable version that has a new module that converts raw negatives to positive and does an amazing job. Waiting on a roll of Portra 400 to shoot portraits of my friend's family. Will definitely be using your tips when editing the photos.
@@sstahl4006 you've come to the right place I shoot outdoors alot as you probably can tell from my channel. Looking forward to help you in anyway I can throughout your journey!
Glad it was of value to you. When I first started I needed a cheap solution and GIMP was it but even still I use it so its a great option even for professionals.
Is there a order to your editing or do you work on categories (color, touch-up then alterations). example dose it matter that you do curves then levels or levels then curves?
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel! Im glad that this edit could help assist you with your editing, gimp is a nice tool for image manipulation! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for making this video!! I am having trouble figuring out the blemish tool. When I hit Ctrl + left click I get a menu of options rather than just copping the color. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
I am having trouble adj. colour. The car is a dark green and the untouched photo is more pastel green. I have played with all the color adj. to no avail.
@@TMIDD I have tried Hue and Lum. It is a very hard to capture the darkened green, called Viper Green, but I was able to capture it with my tablet. But there is the pic. where the colour is definitely off. I could show you if there was a way to post pictures.
Thanks for stopping by and supporting my content. My gimp is a few versions outdated so you could possibly have an updated version also I have an extension added which is "Darktable" to allow for GIMP to handle RAW image files.
Yes, in general I think you could go a bit quicker. Great video and tips. Interesting to see how you edited the photo, it's just the speed. You could have covered the same in less time. But great work 👍
Not a bad video, but I just couldn't connect with it. There was too much swallowing, which to me spells nervousness. And in turn, that spells not positive about your own work. I liked it somewhat, but I just couldn't connect with it.

What are you trying to accomplish? Have you tried Hue, Saturation, Lum and then add a mask to the specific area of interest?

Watches this in 1.75 speed and it still felt slow 😐
