Hi my God Dan😋, you’re making me so hungry and envious. I’ve been to Hys many times, before I left some friend and I went to the Keg on Steveston Hwy. Not Hys, but it was a good food and a fun night. My favourite meal of a filet, medium rare, béarnaise sauce on the side with baked potato and mushrooms. Down here it’s impossible to get a good steak without paying around $70 US. Then add on all the extras and a drink you’re looking at well over $100 US for dinner. Not affordable as a pensioner these days. 😢
The price of beef is supposed to be going up this year. I don't eat beef as much anymore so I really enjoy it whenever I eat it. Some Keg restaurants are really good and the Kegs in Calgary are as good as may steakhouses. Wishing you all the best in the New Year. All the best to your health and happiness.

There are small steak cuts of USGA beef available for a price, but no russet potato’s. Ha! So picky. I just need to bite the bullet and buy the U.S. cut of beef and cook it in my cast iron fry pan that someone gave me a few years ago. I have the avocado oil and also clarified butter as well as an unopened jar of Keg Spice. One day I’m just going to do it. 😄

Tipping has gotten out of hand; owners of eateries must pay their employees as they raise prices even at casual places. Often times, the waiters/waitresses simply drop off the food (minimal service) but they expect a large tip. SMH; lol.
I agree, tipping has gotten out of hand. Even at Starbucks, they want customers to tip just for taking their order. Recently I went to an Italian restaurant where the food was good and the prices very resonable. When it came to pay, the minimum tip was very high. The waiter said they couldn't adjust the tip to a lower amount. Despite the food being very good, I have not returned. As you say, tipping should be for good service and not for minimal service.
