Why Would You Pay More for a Rubicon LJ When You Can Build One!? ( Jeep Wrangler Talk )

  • So I’ve had a few people message me about this 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited LJ that I’m trying to sell. It’s a great looking Jeep and the store I work at put some major cash into it. My question to some of you Jeep owners is this! Why wouldn't you just buy a LJ like this one and do the upgrades yourself to the front & rear to make it just as good or better than a stock Rubicon?
    If you’d like to buy the Wrangler in this video it’s still for sale currently in November 2019. Asking price is $15,990 with 138k miles. As said in the video it has all new parts and is in great shape. If you'd like to see more photos or video footage just send me a message or comment! Thanks, Chad in Sales with Rodgers Wranglers.

    The rubicon will have a 4:1 transfer case with a Dana 44 with 4.10 gears and lockers Front and rear and the non Rubicon will have a 2.72 transfer case with a Dana 44 with Limited slip and the front will have a Dana 30 open diff & doth will be geared at 3.73 it takes a lot more to make it a Rubicon then just put in a locker on the river but that’s just my opinion

    • @NH2112
      @NH2112 3 года назад +1

      The Rubicon front Dana 44 only has the Dana 44 ring gear, axle tubes and inner Cs are Dana 30. My YJ will be a Rubicon killer, Ford Dana 60 front, GM 14-bolt FF rear, both narrowed & with lockers, 38s, I’m not sure of the transfer case yet but the NVG241OR is pretty strong and less expensive than an Atlas. T/C overall length may be the deciding factor, due to driveline angles (SOA with stock height springs.)

    Jeep started production on the TJ unlimited in mid 2004 and finished in 2006. Its not that easy to turn into a Rubicon. You would need a new front axle because the Rubi has a Dana 44 not the 37 then you'd need new gearing and transfer case, Rubicons have 4.10 gearing not 3.7. Then let's add front and rear E lockers and automatic sway bar disconnect. Gonna cost upwards of 15k depending on the shop.

    It depends on what you want in the end, and what you want to spend up front. I would want "more" than what the Rubicon offers so starting with one would be a silly decision.... UNLESS you don't have what it takes up front to do what you want. That said, if you don't have that extra up front and want to get good use out of it, get the Rubicon.

      TheWhiskeyCowboy Right, when I finish my YJ that’ll be used for the tough stuff and my ‘06 Rubicon w/4” lift & 255/85-16s will for the easier stuff. The YJ will be built much, much stronger.

    Yes this might be cheaper up front than a real Rubicon, however I guarantee it is cheaper to purchase a real Rubicon than to upgrade a regular LJ or TJ. It took me a while to find a real Rubicon LJ but I did and it was well worth the effort. If you price the parts and labor you are going to spend $5k-$7k to upgrade everything to Rubicon spec. Typically the the Rubicons run $2k -$3k more than regular LJ’s or TJ’s.

    The only way to make a non rubi a rubi is to put the rubi components (diffs and tcase) in a non rubi... there is no alternative. I’m doing it to my LJ right now lol.

    If your going to wheel it the rubicon is by far better to build off of. Like others have said the Rubicon are locked up all the way around with dana 44's, and a 4:1 transfer case. I've got a jku that I've built up and the amount of money it takes to build a rubicon out weighs just buying one.

    Damn you probably drive a Honda 2 work. And I said I wasn't gonna watch this but you seem like a shady salesman. Learn which aftermarket parts are actually worth putting on a jeep b4 trying to sell me on a mall crawler. Jeep guys want a used jeep in factory condition. And as far as building your own Rubicon and slapping a sticker on it that's laughable. You're the reason I've seen newer rubi graphics on older rubies. But hey, nobody can tell the difference. I just feel u went about this jeep all wrong. The first thing I wanna look at on a jeep is the undercarriage. We gotta know how bad it's been wheeled if ever. Why would you customize to your liking and then sell to me at an even greater markup. And dealers only do it to jeeps cause aftermarket parts are so cheap. I think I'm gonna put a KING sticker on my coil springs now. Maybe even go to harbor freight, cop a winch and grab a WARN sticker too. Sorry this whole sales pitch set me off.
