Coffee Walk Ep. 102: Most COLLECTIBLE JEEP right NOW
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- One of the question's that I get asked the most often on Coffee Walk is what, in my opinion, is the new, up-and-coming collectible Jeep. Due to being able to find them right now with low miles and them being able to be ordered in special colors and with special options, my vote is the 97-06 TJ Wrangler!
The TJ Unlimited (most often referred to as an LJ aka "long Jeep") is my pick for the "Holy Grail" of the TJ line. I think she's the ultimate Jeep to modify. Watch this weeks' episode, and let me know what y'all think!

I have a 2004 TJ Rubicon and love it. I will always believe that the TJs are the last of the real Jeeps. I'll never own a JK or JL.
Last years for the inline 6 ,most importantly
Dennis is beside himself talking about jeeps, love his Enthusiasm
Damn it! Shhhhh......keep the lid on the TJs. 😏
Best car guy out there i learn so much from him. Great work my guy keep them coming. "Like a class" he gives . 👌
Agreed. Always enjoy Dennis' videos!
Limited Slip Differential, 3.73:1, and the previously mentioned 4wheel disc brakes!! Sweet!!
So happy i found my LJ, new to the Jeep world and quickly found everyone asking way over book price for TJ’s. As soon as I found a one owner LJ w 104 k miles we sealed the deal at 9k
Congrats man, thats a steal for one.
Wow, that's a good deal!
That is a steal! I paid double that for a ‘05, rust free with 80k
. But I sold a 996 to make it happen. Best thing I ever did!
Honestly the Jeep Unlimited was my dream vehicle when I was in high school. Straight 6 and longer wheel base? Yes sir
From CJ to TJ the only real Jeeps
Love my 06 Rubicon unlimited. Never going to get rid of it.
I have an 06 TJ Unlimited LJ. Bought it in 08 with 27 thousand miles. It has been everywhere. It now has 250 thousand and is still going. Love it!
TJ is the sweet spot
I’ve done my share of frame section repairs on the 97-06 Jeeps and found that all are a blast to drive . Thanks Dennis always learn something from you each time I watch a video .
How much would you think small frame repairs on the TJ would cost? I have no welding equipment or experience and would have to pay someone to do it
@@koba2348 depends on how extensive the frame rust is , sometimes it’s cheaper to buy a rust free frame . Some states don’t allow any frame repairs, best idea I have is find someone near to you that has a few Jeep’s hanging around and ask them if they know anyone that does do those types of repairs .
Here’s a plug for Dennis , buy one of these awesome restorations he has done they are unbelievably perfect .
I bought my Sahara Rubicon LJ about 4 years ago, I've gotten at least a dozen offers for more than I paid for it at a dealer. Love my Jeep.
I was offered 30k 2 years ago. I've had mine for 10 years
Ahhh an LJ RubiHara; that’s a unicorn for sure.
Awesome but I have an 06 rubicon 6spd and they didn't start e-lockers til 07 air lockers in 06 but I love this so helpful and very knowledgeable
My '05 has air lockers....
I love going to school on Jeeps. Thanks!
I have an 06 TJ and I love it.
I would never own a JK or JL.
TJ’s were the last of the “real” Jeeps.
If someone handed you the keys to a TJ and a JL for free... you’d pick the JL
@@johnjohnson9431 , I would pick the TJ. If l could choose between a TJ or a CJ, I would take the CJ. To me, a Jeep was always meant and designed to be a simple, low cost, easy to repair, bare to the bones, working, utility vehicle. I find the newer Jeeps just the opposite, just my honest opinion lol!
@@johnjohnson9431 I wouldn’t. The tj is nostalgic. And I would never use a Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver. I love the simplistic layout of the TJ.
@@johnjohnson9431 I traded my '06 TJ for an '18, within a couple months, I missed the TJ, it just drives, looks and feels like a Jeep, more fun to work on and fit on tight trails. So I drove two states away and bought a clean '04 TJ. They are so much more fun than these bloated, plastic SUVs they call Jeeps.
My favorite Jeep of all time is the Scrambler. Really thought when Jeep made the ‘LJ” that they would’ve offered a Scrambler package.
There is an outfit in Georgia that builds a single hard cab
Think it costs $1500, once on an LJ, it looks a lot like a
Scrambler.
It's amazing the codes and vins that are in your brain. Dennis has a ton of knowledge on all vehicles not just Jeep's, that's a passion.
Dennis, you know your Jeeps!!
*Correction*
At 4:40 you stated the non-rubicon came with a Dana 35 front. Dana 30 is what they came with.
Had a '78 CJ-7 I restored in the late 90's. 304v8 with side pipes. Loved it, drove it several years before selling it at a very nice price.
Dennis, Love watching your videos. I’ve got to come down and see your facility. Several months ago I bought your last white denim replacement top to go on my dad‘s 1979 CJ5. Had a white top on it when he drove it off the show room in Dodge city Kansas in January 1979. In honor of Dad I am trying to restore it. Thanks for your help. The top is still in the box. Been busy with family matters and have not had time to put it on. I will keep watching. Thank you Dennis.
Dennis Collins is the BEST Jeep guy out there. he is slowly making me want to buy one JEEP
Who unlikes these videos???? They're so informative and Dennis seems genuinely happy to share knowledge which is rare in the car business.
I agree, I don’t own a Jeep or go off-roading but still look forward to his videos. I have watched so many of his videos my 8 year is starting to talk about Jeeps.
Thank you Mr Jeep 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for your RUclips videos..
I love your.jeep cj 7 show. I get so.excited. i could watch your show over n over.
Dennis, 03-06 Rubicons are air lockers, electric started in 07’. As someone commented Dana 30 front, not 35. Cheers!
Electric lockers started in 06 in the TJ/LJs
DJ Cahoon I’m sorry but that is incorrect. Factory electric lockers begun in 07’ with the JK. All 03-06 Rubicon had air - unless aftermarket or import possibly.
LOL thx to this video pricing on LJ's just went up!
I have an 06 Rubicon LJ with 19K miles, resale value already higher than its original MSRP!
I'm currently building a daily drive-able rock crawler from my 2005 Deep Beryl Green Pearl LJ. My friend has a 2005 Rubihara LJ. His is more like the one you showed with the hard top and mostly original equipment other than a lift. Mine is modified quite a bit with long arm suspension, armor, and a 2 seater setup. Sold the khaki hard top itself for $1800 which was a pretty good indicator to me that these things are in demand. Looking forward to wheeling it on my local trails such as Rubicon, but I will be careful with her. As with any Jeep, check the frame for rust inside and out before buying. My frame looked fine on the outside, but was rotting on the inside. She's all fixed up now though. Cheers to the LJ!!
Dennis you and the crew there do excellent work!!
My 2006 LJ Rubicon has 60,000 miles on it and is in Canada. Only 89 were sold in Canada and 8 of them in my color - Midnight Blue. Very rare up here.
I want one!! This is my dream jeep. I've got an '85 CJ7 that I love but the LJ is over the top. Love them. Can't wait to get one! Thanks Dennis for making these videos! You guys do such great work. I'm going to make it to your place one day!!
Steve from Texas
Look forward to the coffee walk
Hello Dennis, I like to learn in each of your videos, and although English is not my native language, your way of explaining makes it much easier and understandable, greetings from Mexico and keep making such excellent videos !!!!!
For English not being your native language you did an amazing job writing this message!
Wish more people wrote that well. Heck wish I wrote that well! 😂
My first jeep was a 1982 scrambler I bought for around 3,200 in the early 90s. Built it up to go over the Rubicon trail, great jeep. My 2nd was a 99 tj sport, Auto, hard top. Fun jeep, nothing like the scrambler. My third jeep was a 2004 unlimited, and though I never got to build it up like the scrambler, it definitely was my 2nd favourite jeep. Just recently moved to South East Arizona and decided I needed a toy and trail rig and bought a 1998 se wrangler. For what I was doing around here it was plenty fun. I took my wife's 2018 JL unlimited in for a recall and an oil change last week, and there sat a 2005 2dr Rubicon. Made a deal with the dealer and brought it home. No more 98 4cyl, and have a 4.0 6 speed Rubicon, yaaa me!
I have an 06 LJ in beryl green with 27k miles. My wife has a 2015 JKU Rubicon. It rides great, but my heart belongs to my LJ.
Just Got my LJ Rubicon khaki 2005 6 speed manual bone stock 1 owner, and found this video, I will keep it and upgrade it later, for now enjoying factory ride ;)
Just found an 06 LJ Rubicon with 88K miles that I bring home tomorrow. Super excited! Sold an 04 LJ a number of years ago and regretted it so now gonna right the story. This time with a Rubicon. 😃
And.......fixed yoke rear driveshaft from the factory.....
I think Dennis must be the painter..🤔
And if so, my absolute highest compliments in that regard!
You definitely know your paint codes and the skin on dem babies be SLICK!!!
Another great episode! It’s cool
To hear that my CJ is a collectors vehicle!😎
Not an LJ but I have a 2 door 1997 Bright Jade Satin Metallic TJ or Teal as everyone calls it lol. From what I understand that color was only made for 2 years 97-98 and I love it and don’t think I’ll ever part with it.
MAN! I LOVE THIS CHANEL !
I have a 2006 TJ Rubicon with lockers front and rear but they are air lockers not electronic. I didn’t know the LJ’s where electronic. Learn something every day. Thanks Dennis.
1999 TJ here. Love it !!! Even added a Collins Brothers Tire Cover!!!! Wonder if Dennis and Ms. Kelsey would sign the Glove Box if I drove it from WA to TX. Big Fan!!! Great Videos!!! Keep up the great work!!!!
Good to know about the unlimited. I’ve owned a mostly stock 04 and daily driver for the past 14 years . Best vehicle I’ve ever owned .
I have a 95 wrangler with the 4 cylinder engine, runs like a timex watch, had a 97 but got rid of it,chassis was all rotted .the 95 came from out west and never was exposed to salt on the roads and never will
“Ten inches is a big deal.” Yeah, so I’ve heard. 😂
KrispyKreme50 That's what she said.
I knew there be a few 10 inch jokes in here! 😅
Take my like sir and move on... 😂😂😂🍆
Lol I was thinking the same thing
Many thanks Dennis for another great video.
Love my 03 tj rubicon, if it can get traction it will move alot of weight and it is a blast to drive
Bought our 05 Rubihara new and only has 90k on her. She's been around the world with us and I don't think we'll ever get rid of her. Thanks for all the info!
05 Lj here. Love it
Love your passion, Dennis! Thanks for sharing it with us! Have a great weekend!
Dude! I am going to Texas and buying a jeep. Amazing
Got a black coffee mug hanging out anywhere? If not I'll get the white one to hold the Blue Island. Massively admire your expertise and results. And as you suggested a few months ago you do put a smile on my face.
One you didn't mention was the LJ Premium package that came with color matched fenders (like the Sahara), a chrome grill, silver center stack and two-tone seats. I have a 2006 like that.
🚙 Jeeps! Always more to learn! I hear 👂 Ricardo got married and his new wife says he can't travel with you anymore? 🤠🤠🤠 Thanks for sharing your story! 🏎🏎👋👋👋👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🛬⭐❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
And that's why we have hung on to my wife's since 06!
I have an '18 two door, and missed my TJs. They are way more fun. I had to go find an '04 Rubicon. Happy again!
I have an LJ with 6 speed 28k.....absolutely love it wouldnt trade it for a JL...😀
The color keyed bedliner looks much better than black. Bet it’s cooler in the summer as well.
Another great video Dennis. Your great wealth of knowledge helps even us lifetime Jeep owners. The info on the CJ’s is awesome. God bless.
This is great glad I run up on this video I would love to get in touch with them I believe I have a LJ that he worked on here in Tupelo Mississippi
Great show Dennis, I just now today realized it was on, I always liked the episodes on GASMONKEY that you were in
Ill never forget test driving a black one with manual trans in 2005 from the old jeep dealership in lancaster tx. I really wish I would have bought that thing.
Dennis definitely knows Jeeps. Seems like a nice guy who you could trust in a car deal.
I have an '06 LJ with under 100K miles. It has a 3" Zone Offroad lift kit with 33" General Grabber ATX tires on American Racing wheels. TruckLite LED headlights and clear and amber Niilight lights on the Quadratech front bumper with hoop. I have an Alpine subwoofer and a 2-DIN Kenwood radio that hasn't been installed yet. I have a video of it on my channel before the lift kit and tires were added. I never got around to making part 2. Diabetes has damaged my eyes so I don't drive as much anymore. I'll get around to making part 2 and see if I get any decent offers for it.
Always liked the LJ but much prefer my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn, 3.73's, Dana 44 with the amazing 4.0 I6.
The lockers were air operated. 2007 JK had electric lockers.
Good catch! The base one also did NOT have a dana 35 in the front. That's a rear axle.
Troy Lovell Dana 30!
I think holy grail must mean something different to him.
Exactly
Great knowledge Dennis. Great enthusiasm.
I miss my 1997 XJ 4x4.
Went from 02 tj to 05 lj. Lj was a lot nicer on hwy among other things. Sad to say had to sell it (21 Mojave isnt a bad replacement tho) after 10 years and got the same price i paid even tho it was a little rough due to Canadian winters. Miss it already.
You have a great weekend as well!
Can you do show and tell us about the 1973 Super Jeep and it difference Pros & Cons? Thanks dig this channel & Your knowledge of Jeeps!
Dam sweet rides xj will be the next up and coming collectable
Yep true, nabbed my 96 XJ for $3k but in good condition they're selling for $12k-$20k on the west coast.
Love these long wheelbase jeeps.
FYI, TJ and "LJ" have air lockers. When you flip the button electric does travel to 2 small air compressor on top side of the skid plate that pump up bladders in the diff. On my 03 Rubicon I had to replace the "vent tube" going into in diff. It's misleading on the parts fishe. Also moved the compressors to the engine bay.
Thnx for Jeep lessons 🚗 🚘
TJ Unlimited Rubicon will be in my driveway someday.
I have to agree. The TJ unlimited is my favorite late model Jeep. It still has the squared off looks of the CJ and still feels like a Jeep.
I think he misspoke, said the base model LJ had a D35 in the front. D35 was never a front, it was a D30. Also, TJ's had air lockers, not electric. Electric lockers from factory started with the JK.
I'll agree with my '05 LJ Rubicon!
picked up my 06 LJ in 2014. found it at a BMW dealership Daily driven it ever since.
Dennis your so right on in this video. Only one misstatement was the base tj and lj came with Dana 30 and 35 rear axles not Dana 35 front (dont think that exists) and Dana 44 rear. The rubicon received the D44 axles with lockers. Jk came base models with d30 and d44 2nd gen axles and rubicon with d44 2nd gen axles with electric lockers.
I have a 2006 TJ Rubicon. Not the unlimited package though. I believe it was one of the last TJs to roll off the production line because the manufacture date is 6-06. Hard top, 6-speed, dark green. I’ve had people offer me 15k cash in parking lots. But I’m keeping Rubi.
Would give anything to Meet Him and see His Work Shop
Nice! Love learning about Jeeps!
I had no idea a Rubicon Sahara existed. Very cool!
I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sahara Unlimited one of one thousand....with 98,000 miles and the original spare....The transmission sometimes drops out of gear at 45 MPH or doesn't shift to high gear and runs at 3000 6:00 RiPM....I have had the computer reprogrammed two times....One day I will finally find someplace that can fix it....A very nice video....
I like the TJ more because it’s more similar to a CJ7… I also have an 04 TJR so you can say I’m biased, but gotta love the LJ and would like to have one as well.
There's also a premium option package on the regular LJ. My '05 is one. Not a Sahara, but far off of one either. I've already been offered more than I paid for it.
I had a 98 tj sport with the 4.0 no rust.. and traded to a short bed square body c10..
Worst trade I ever made in my life..m now I have a. 92 yj.. still miss my TJ
Had one as a lease. The buy out was to much at the time so i returned it. .The motor was amazing..
My 95 is awsome has galvanized tub and frame. First thing I can remember wanting was a Jeep.
Just sold my 2006 LJR, was the second owner. Bought it bone stock with 71k miles one her paid $9,500. Sold here for $17,500 with 86k on here. Biggest mistake I ever made. Greatest Jeep ever made!
I have a '05 TJ but wanted an LJ. Just could not find one. Bought off the showroom floor. Mine is an Artic White with black top. Rubi with every available option except the dual top (mine is a hard top). She is my 5th Jeep. I have owned a '46 CJ2A thru a CJ-7. God I love these vehicles!
My Rubi LJ has 16,300 miles 👌🏼
Love my no rust,03 tj!
Loved my 06 but had to move on. On my third since that Jeep.
