I'm from Germany, in Europe Affogato is known for more than a decade. By the way, even in expensive restaurants a Affogato doesn't cost more than 3€ ;-)
Coffee and Ice cream are made for each other. In northern areas of Pakistan, inspite of cold climate almost every tea seller has an ice cream machine. They just heat up some milk with steamer, dissolve a tea spoon of instant coffee in it and then add ice cream over it. It's not served as a dessert but as a drink, in a cup with straw. They just call it cold coffee and it's taste is heavenly, like the place where it's being served.
