I've been watching Retro Rick for a while, and I really enjoy his videos hunting for deals at flea markets and such, but these new videos just break my heart.
I recently sold my childhood mint CIB copies of Pokémon red, blue, yellow, silver, gold and, crystal for around $500 each to a serious collector. I know they will be treasured. I used the money to pay some bills and buy other retro games and collectables that will give me more joy since I know that I'll never be picking up a Gameboy again to play Pokemon.
With that being said, I find it incredibly hard to believe that all of these items added up are only worth around $10,000. Complete in box retro systems go for hundreds especially in such good condition. The same can be said for CIB games. It seems like Retro Rick has now become a part of the dark side of retro collecting, the mark-up reseller. I can understand that he's running a business, and in order to make money you need to lowball the people coming in who are selling items. There's just no other way to do it as your profit is entirely dependent on how much you pay for the stock that you sell. The thing that gets me is that Rick would never pay these prices himself for those games if he went into another shop that was selling them for the same price. Sad.

Typical purchasing shouldn't go above 30-35% of market value for used/thrift/pawnshop video game type purchases. It's really cool to see you paying 50% of market value. I'm not sure that's sustainable over a larger scale with more franchises but it's definitely honest business and keeps customers happy. With that said, it's a little inside baseball and I would never reveal my buy/sell margins as you do. A sale is a sale. If both parties agree on a price it's a deal.
Really cool to see this RUclips channel and you have a beautiful store. I'm quite surprised to see you have only 42.4k sub. With your personality, the look of the store and the overall good nature of the content I'm convinced your subs should be between 300-500k. You should get in touch with a social media specialist and have them cut and curate the videos so add a little more virility to them and real make them pop and get those subs where they should be :)

Very questionable for him to sell such a stellar collection.
I've been collecting for a long time, and with the way the market is on retro collecting I would only sell if I absolutely had to

To those saying he'll regret it. I sold my CIB retro game collection in 2017 for close to 15k and used it to get into a brand new house. I kept all my fave Pokemon, Kirby, and TMNT stuff and don't regret it one bit. Although I'm well aware that prices have increased over the years, and I had some hella rare stuff.

If you need money....sell it yourself. No idea why he'd give all this up for that price. This guy got hosed so bad on this sale. I don't blame the buyer as it's a business. But dude...

It’s honestly a fair deal. If he sells it online, there’s fees and shipping.. plus time. Likely not many people that will be able to buy all of that locally at once.

Wow what a loss Jordan took! Why would you not sell this stuff on Ebay and get your moneys worth… that’s a big price to pay just to be on RUclips. Congrats Rick you hit the Jackpot Buddy! Making Money hand over fist with that collection! I’d rather have that stuff than gold Anyday. Theres a lot less of that stuff than gold in the world. It will appreciate a lot more over time than Gold.

The customer seemed like such a great guy. One thing I don't get however: To have that much passion for collecting, and not really need the money, why sell it? He spent years and years of his life collecting all that stuff. I get selling some of it, but all of it? I don't think I could ever do that.
