What if A.D stands for Alex Drake, what if A.D. Is actually a Girl and not a Guy and maybe related to the Hastings or like in the books a Twin..? Imagine Spencer having a bad Twin sister and that she is A.D. 😜😜😜😜 that would be an epic episode .. can't wait to see the finale episode
if there is a Spencer twin I don't think she switched places.... but I do things there were many times when she pretended to be Spencer. that's why Spencer has so many memory black outs.
This is my theory too, ever since I saw the Hana dream sequence because what we have learnt from Ali is what we think is a dream isn't always a dream. Your details make it even more plausible.
Remember when Spencer was in Radley for a few days. (When she was in the woods and thought that Toby is dead). Then the therapist or Doctor asked for her name but she didn't want to say it. Then later when everyone there knew that she is Spencer she Told Eddie Lamb that she just wanted to be someone else than Spencer for one day. Maybe it is a clue that she is sick of playing her role as Spencer and wanted to be her self (Avery). PLOT TWIST
Also when the therapist shows up and outs her as Spencer, Spencer says "Olly olly oxen free" which is a saying that means people can come out *without losing the game*. Later, A uses the phrase "Ali Ali oxen freee" I've long thought Spencer was A and now am convinced she's a twin-which makes my gut reaction all these years even more plausible.
I believe when "spencer" gets bangs she somehow switches places with avery and joins the girls for her final game. So right now spencer is actually the REAL spencer
I think the twin theory is very plausible , especially after you highlighted the fact that "Spencer" and the girl in the coffin are wearing the same dress. The theme song then dawned on me " Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead" . I really think Avery killed Spencer and has been living two lives ever since "that night".
i think when "spencer" went crazy that night and tried to hurt alison that that was maybe avery then, also I remember Hanna was hallucinating she saw spencer when she was kidnapped, could have been avery too

I don't think Hanna was just hallucinating. When Hanna gave herself up, the person texting the girls was "A-moji". Only after Hanna was captured did they start signing the text -A.D. During the scene with Spencer, "Spencer" says A.D. But at that stage, Hanna would have have had no idea who that was so she couldn't have just conjured it up.
exactly i had the same thought. Sara never looked shocked. If Avery and Spencer are twins and Sara was her best friend shouldn't she be surprised that Spencer looks just like Avery.

if this is true I would hate it. But it does make sense because I've seen that who a.d is will break lots of hearts so if it is Spencer then it will break all the girls hearts. Also I have heard it is someone Spencer has known 4 a long time well Spencer has known herself for ever. Also Spencer is going to b the first person 2 find out who A.D is and that makes sense aswell
crazy Potter head-oncer Aria finds out who AD is, AD is Lucas and Lauren DiLaurentis, Alison's twin. Aria goes rogue and sets up a trap for AD in 3x19 and gets "killed" by "Alison". Alison then gets sent to jail for the murders of Aria, Sara and Archer. Aria hides in the shadows and sees that AD is still playing the game. AD (Lauren & Lucas) then kidnap Spencer, Hanna and Emily and plan to burn them in a barn. Mona has also been hunting down Lauren secretly. Lauren then reveals that she knew all along that Cece's killer was Pastor Ted. Lucas gets angry and tries to kill Lauren but she ends up killing him. When Lauren tries to set the fire and leave, Aria and Mona come out to rescue the girls. Lauren then sets the fire and traps the girls. Mona then starts fighting Lauren, leaving Aria and the other liars to escape. " Go, save yourselves. I started this and I'm going to end it." -Mona. The barn burns down, and Mona sacrifices herself and Lauren for the girls, but no bodies are found. P.S: Lauren was seen by Spencer in Ali's room in the pilot episode, she was seen in 3x24 and she saves Emily from the barn in 2x12.
This makes so much sense! Oh, and I remember watching a video where the cast was talking about A.D theories, and Troian said she knew who A.D was, so that would make sense (This was a while back). I wish I could find that video now, but it would make sense as to why she would know before everyone else.
I have two theory's in who could be A.D, and one of them is definitely Spence's twin. I do not think she switched places with her from the start already. Cause if she would have.. than in my opinion Spencer would be A.D (and not her twin) for example, for being mad at her friends not noticing she isn't Spencer herself. And if Spencer really did try to kill Allison, well, she would be crazy and messed up enough to be/play A.D. But I stick with Spencer being Spencer. And her twin definitely being in the Hanna dream scène, and she also and not Spencer, was definitely the person at the airport in the latest episode. (Her; "Don't tell my friends about me seeing here" to Ezra, was the final clue for me, that there are two of them) And being A.D or not, I am for 99% sure, Spencer definitely has a twin sister. Which also is going to be revealed later in the show.
I think Spencer is the one with the twin, but the twin is Bethany Young. Remember when that doctor said he "delivered two of her children". The key word is "of". If there were only two children, the doctor would say he delivered both of her children. She had more than two kids. And I'll always hope and wish that Aria is A. The evidence is insane, there's so much of it. But if we can't have that story line, this is the next best thing. But Spencer is Spencer, they didn't switch places.
I love Aria being A but i cant find a good enough motive. Also with Bethany, she was 17 at the time of her death when Spencer was only 15 so that's the only thing keeping me from saying it's Bethany. now Bethany and Melissa being twins makes more sense. they do have very similar voices and Mona said she saw Melissa as queen of hearts but it was probably Bethany.
The Perfectionist Ik pll is finished now but I’m still gonna say how this doesn’t make sense 😂😂. Sos if u don’t understand this I’m trying my best to explain it. There are two years difference between Bethany and Spencer , but there are 6 years difference between Melissa and Spencer. How I know this is because remember in season one when Spencer steals Mellisas paper taking it off as her own? When she changed the name and date of the paper the original date said it was made in 2004 and when Spencer changed it she wrote it as 2010. That means Melissa was six years older as Spencer as she would have written the essay when she was that age as well. So Melissa and Bethany have a four years difference which means they couldn’t possibly be twins x

That is what I don't understand (just saying "she's crazy" is not enough), why would she torture Hannah. Did they lied to us about the doll house like she never was really in her room, never had that strange dream etc?
Naelia there are 2 spencers. avery is the spencer weve come to know. the real spencer is messing with the girls because they didnt notice the switch. weve only seen the real spencer like 2 times. the first 30 seconds of the show and when she was woth hanna.

They refilmed with the exact same clothes that premiere scene several seasons later to fill in plot points, it's possible that wardrobe didn't have the necklace anymore and gave her another one. Also, the show is known to coming up with story lines as the seasons go on, I highly doubt that the Avery is Spencer's twin theory dates from 7 years ago, the show runners don't plan ahead that much. In season 5 or 6, I can't remember, when it's obvious that Troian is wearing a wig, however she stated in an interview it was to give her hair a break because it was getting fried from all the hair styling. Great theory though, but I wouldn't rely on I. Marlene King's ability to plan that far ahead. I'm sure they thought of who A.D could be as they were preparing for season 6.

i agree, the twist should be spencers twin, and it must have something to do with fire... there are too many fire incidents in this show and it will end with a fire aswell so maybe something really bad happened with AD because of a fire and this AD blames all the liars for this maybe it was the night that jenna got blinded and AD could be Avery or maybe its Avery who pretends to be spencers and its spencer who's taking revenge now

I totally believe this! But, I hope it means that Avery really is the 'good' twin, even if she and Spencer switched places. Also, if they switched at the sleepover then the year where Aria was in Iceland (or was she...) their friend group fell apart, which explains why they wouldn't notice if she was acting different (like in the book) so that fits!! I think that they switched back somewhere In The five year gap and that real Spencer, the one that they know now, is AD. It fits--the game shows up in SPENCERS barn. AD is actually a team with people like Sydney, Jenna, and maybe Lucas, because spencer can't be the one aiming a gun at them. Also, let's not forget Hanna dreaming about Spencer when she was captured. That Spencer didn't have bangs, and 'dreams' in pll are usually true. So. It was Avery, who was also being kept there. Her motive for being AD and wanting to find Charlottes killer: if we can assume it's the same as the Courtney-Ali swap, then Avery was in Radley until the sleepover, and when they switched Spencer was in Radley, which meant she could have met Charlotte and become friends with her, and then be AD to avenge her death, carry on the A plan, and get revenge on Avery. If Spencer doesn't have a twin i think either, Melissa and Bethany are twins, mona has a twin, or charlotte was Charles' twin or Ali and courtney. they're the only ones i can make sense of.lol
yea I keep seeing loads of theories about Spencer being ad though so this would really work, my friend thinks avery is Bethany youngs twin but I'm not to sure and no one ever seen Spencer being born and that doctor said he delt with too of Marys children indicate theres a twin .

I felt like Spencer Twin made a lot of sense but this puts it together beautifully! If they didn't plan to have this be the ending, I hope they see this theory and re shoot he finale to make this the truth!
I think the necklace thing is just to do with not being able to get the exact necklace as it's clear those scenes weren't filmed within the same season, it's similar with the whole Cece outside the cafe scene.
I love this theory❣️ i never thought Hannah was dreaming about spencer when she was being held captive. I think AD (Avery) had kidnapped spencer at first. She swapped places with her because Avery probably wanted what spencer had.i think eventually Avery had convinced spencer/ worked it into Spencer's mind that they could work together. Spencer was obviously pissed at the girls for not noticing like you said, i.e. Playing the game again. Both spencer and Avery took turns in portraying spencer Hastings. Avery and spencer obviously are different people with different personalities, so at first Avery played perfect spencer really well and slowly but surely brought in real spencer so the character had two sides so if spencer starts acting....not so girl next door-ish it wouldn't be so abnormal for the rest of the liars to see that side of her.One of the two twins obviously is wearing clip on bangs or something, so when Hannah seen spencer in her dream, it wasn't a dream that was probably Avery or spencer. This theory narrowed it down to two suspect duos. 1)Spencer and Avery 2)aria and Ezra
Keep in mind that the real actress who acts as spencer is named Troian Avery Bellisario!! Troian also directed some parts of PLL. Coincidence or not???

This is absolutely insANE. you got like almost everything right. And the stuff that wasn't right, made more sense that what they actually did in the show.
I remember Marlene saying A.D will break a lot of hearts and when you rewatch the series over you'll see all the sweet conversations they have will the girls and you won't look at them the same , so maybe that is why
It wouldn't make sense, at least for me because many times Spencer had flashbacks about moments she shared with the girls when Ali didn't go missing yet. If Spencer was Avery she wouldn't have those memories unless Spencer has always been Avery.

This is very interesting. I love this theory. To me it would be heartbreaking. I'm just hoping the ending will satisfy all of us in a surprising "I knew it" kinda way. Is there any chance Avery's friends saw Spencer in the episodes. I can't remember much, it's been a while
I think this is such a good theory! However I think the first time we seen Avery was season7 ep 15 wen spencer someone managed to change clothes three times and randomly started talking to wren at the airport. I think the reason she told Ezra not to tell anyone about her speaking to wren is because she didn't want spencer to find out or else she would know about Avery.
We got told that we have seen A.D since the 1st episode so i dont think it was Spencers 'twin' bc we havent seen clues for a twin often yk - so in my opinion i dont think it is Spencers twin, but if it is it would be a huge twist and i think i would be very surprised. I absolutely love this theory, definitely one of my favorites so far. ALthough, wouldn't Sara have talked as soon as she saw Spencer for the first time? I mean, she probably would've called her Avery the first time she saw her since it was her friend?
I think sara knew. she said that she was looking for the same thing as the liars. what if she was just trying to figure out who was the real spencer. not 100% sure of sara's involvement. but theres got to be something since they brought her back after the time jump.
They wouldn't make the whole A plot line about Spencer, that just opens up so many other plot lines and they would really have to stretch this because of the timing of things because we know that A was Mona, then CeCe. And they would have to come up with how there story lines all connect from the very beginning if Avery was A.D meaning that Mona and CeCe were working under him/her, when we know that Mona came up with "the game" by herself and CeCe continued it in Radley. And I don't think they have enough time to do that and answer the remains questions.
honestly, this makes perfect sense and i wouldn't be shocked if it actually ended like this. what i don't get is, if it was really like this, then why would there be no more mentions about avery in seasons 5 6 and 7? i get the clues and everything though. tbh i would be a little disappointed if it ended like this. :(

I like it a lot, but if the spencer twin was sara's friend, would not sara have reacted in a special way when she saw her? Or did you know it all already? Sara's two friends who spoke with hana and emily could be their versions, avery would be spencer and sara alison. You would miss an Aria :3
noooooo i hate this theory cause its really good and believable but I love spencer. I think it would be good if they did this but have Avery as the bad one not Spencer. Also twins are usually genetic like mary and jessica, mary's daughter being spencer and avery. But the only thing is the doctor only said there was ONE baby not TWO, so maybe they could be sisters??? Sorry if this is confusing I typed it out really quickly.
Another reason could be that if spencer has a twin, Avery, that would make sense because Spencer's real mum is Mary and Mary has a twin. But normally twins have twins don't they? So Mary being a twin to Jessica had spencer and Avery.
Cool theory, I really don't want it to be any of the girls though 😭 lol The only thing is all the "clues" from before we found out Mona was A, I wouldn't count on them cause they were written when the writers knew Mona would be A. Marlene said in an interview that some things may not match up (e.g. Toby's mum and Charlotte being in Radley at the same time) because they didn't know at the time of writing where they would take the story in a few seasons/ if they would even have a next season.
My theory is that Spencer is a twin, Avery could be the twin but I'm not sure, I don't think that Spencer was the one who was on drugs on purpose the night Ali "died". I also think that the twin works for A.D. And the twin had tried to protect Spencer when she had gotten shot. Remember the scene where Jenna is carrying a gun and Noel dies, "Spencer" screamed "No" but I think this was the twin trying to protect her sister, but failed . And the persons trying to kill Spencer was an accomplice of Wren's and the twin. When the twin tried to protect Spencer it made Wren and the twin fight, at the airport! Another piece of evidence is when Hannah is held captive and has the dream about Spencer being there and helping her out, I think that was the twin, because the twin mentioned A.D and Hannah didn't know who A.D was! When the other girls gave A.D Hannah, after came the text from A.D, the very first signed A.D text! And the twin has always been there from the first episode. She had the motive to be A.D and find CeCe's killer because CeCe is the twins half sister. She could have been the one driving away in the most recent episode (this is written the night before the last episode). Wren and maybe another person are A.D! Marlene King tweeted that A.D's reveal will be "heartbreaking" therefore it is someone we may have known and trusted from day one. This is my Twincer theory. According to the books, there is an "evil twin" posing as her sister, while the other twin sister is locked up in a mental institution getting drugged, because they think she is the "evil twin". So this theory is not hard to believe. Just saying......read the books. 😉
Devin Lewis I think spencer got avery sent away for something when they were little. could be the twin story ali told but noone died. so avery switched places to get revenge. i think that would also cover the fact that spencer always wants what everyone has. like the doll in the story. idk still trying to figure it out. any thoughts? ideas?
I think that's a definite possibility, and I think that Marlene has left this so open ended to make it impossible to pin down the real story until the very end. Personally I think that either Aria or Spencer has some kind of multiple personality disorder, and one personality is A.D. Both characters have a lot of inconsistencies, Spencer in particular with the weird interpretive dance bathtub scene, the memories that don't add up, and the fact that she is the child of someone with a mental disorder. But Aria's uncle was institutionalized and there are also a lot of clues with her as well. AND THEN Ali's story STILL doesn't add up to me, I don't think she's A.D. but I think somehow everything is still tied back to what we don't know about the summer she went missing. Lol sorry to ramble at you.
I'm not sure exactly how this would fit in but at some point during their time in high school Spencer's mom is yelling at her saying that she is worried about her because years ago she had such severe "mood swings" that it seemed like she was two different people and she never knew which Spencer was going to come down to breakfast. And that it seemed like that was happening again. I'm not sure if this has a direct fit into the plot or is maybe just alluding to the audience that something is off with Spencer either in the form of split personalities or a twin situation.
What if all of these clues, rather than pointing to Spencer's twin, point to Spencer herself? What if she has split-personality disorder? That way, most of these clues make sense - and it's heartbreaking, as the cast and crew of the show have claimed it will be.

I like the twin theory ideas, but I don't think Spencer has an actual physical twin. I think Spencer has a personality disorder and sometimes her 'twin' AD comes out and takes over. Spencer never remembers this. The drug use her way of self medicating sub consciously. She's been the most obsessed with finding out who A is during Mona and Charlotte's turns as A but seems less enthused now, maybe she knows somewhere deep inside that she doesn't want to know but she doesn't know why. When Spencer is in control of the body AD feels dead and lost which would explain AD's message to Spencer that said, you know me you killed me. I used to have an Aria split personality theory, but now I think it was always Spencer. No one who has ever worked for A D or Uber A ever saw her face so no one ever knew.
Exactly we don't need the exact book stories. Spencer was already adopted in the books and we've already had our series twin Jessica and Mary we don't need another it's too predictable.
I've read up to book 13. Unless there's a new revelation after that, Spencer was not adopted. Her parents used a surrogate for Spencer because Mrs. Hastings had a difficult pregnancy with Melissa. But she is biologically related to both Mr. and Mrs. Hastings.
I have a MAJOR clue, remember when (i think) Aria and Hanna went to the zoo to catch A? Spencer was there but she was acting really strange and she had blonde hair. Later the real Spencer came and told them that she was late. The girl they thought was Spencer, looked enough like her for them to believe it was actually her! That could have been Avery with her real blonde hair! This scene for me proved that Spencer has a twin.

There's only 3 episodes left and I think it's too short for them to introduce a "new" character + make it A.D.… or if they do, I'm scared it'll be badly done because it'd be to quick… Anyway, I'm exited to know the truth but I also don't want it to end, it's like a part of me will die with the show aha

This could be a little late but I think Spencer doesn't have twins, she could have triplets. The reveal is Alex.My theory is in the previous season other girls kept hearing/talking about Avery, the last one to meet Sarah. So Alex could kill Avery because Alex worried she would know and meet Spencer then telling all of the truth who A is and tells A's motive.

If Avery took Spencers place "That night" then all the torture she has gone through at the hands of "A" has been by choice... Right? Wouldn't she have assumed it was possibly the twin whose life she stole toying with her as a form of revenge all this time and leading the other members of the A team as well. This means that the real Spencer would have found out "That night" that she was a twin shortly before being switched in season 1. The only thing she wouldn't have known is that she was adopted or related to Alison. Something is missing. I don't think this is enough motive to do what's been done to all the girls. Also where has she physically been the entire time she's been in charge and how can she afford to do what's been done over the past seasons? If "Avery" was part of Sara Harvey's group that means for some point in time she was actually living as an average high school girl. Her friends being unaware of what she was up to. Wouldn't this also mean that Sarah Harvey would've recognized Spencer as Avery upon first meeting her?
A lot of good points. ill try my best to answer them for u. okay. avery thinks that spencers all drugged up and in her place. just like avery pretended to take her pills when she was in radley, the real spencer pretended to take hers as well. she sneaks out mostly at night, which would totally play into marlene's clue about walking after midnight song. also im trying to work in this little twist. it makes my theory a little diff but its that bethany young is a fake identity of avery, and that avery thought she killed the real spencer aka bethany that night and thats why she doesnt know that spencer is a. because she thinks she dead. thats why melissa thought spencer killed bethany. it was really avery hitting spencer and i think ce ce pulled her out. g_xoxo has a theory 3 girls were buried that night. this would also play into that theory perfectly. lol also i think sara was gettting ready to tell the liars what was up but she didnt know is she was right. u have to remember she was supposedly in a hole for years, peoples looks change. she knew avery as a blonde young teen, she met spencer as a brown hair almost adult. or maybe she was just working with avery because she was being blackmailed. we never got an answer of why she was killed. i think its because she knew to much. i hope this is easy to understand.lol

I think the twin theory is very plausible , especially after you highlighted the fact that "Spencer" and the girl in the coffin are wearing the same dress. The theme song then dawned on me " Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead" . I really think Avery killed Spencer and has been living two lives ever since "that night".

I don't think Hanna was just hallucinating. When Hanna gave herself up, the person texting the girls was "A-moji". Only after Hanna was captured did they start signing the text -A.D. During the scene with Spencer, "Spencer" says A.D. But at that stage, Hanna would have have had no idea who that was so she couldn't have just conjured it up.

Mona then starts fighting Lauren, leaving Aria and the other liars to escape. " Go, save yourselves. I started this and I'm going to end it." -Mona. The barn burns down, and Mona sacrifices herself and Lauren for the girls, but no bodies are found. P.S: Lauren was seen by Spencer in Ali's room in the pilot episode, she was seen in 3x24 and she saves Emily from the barn in 2x12.

I have two theory's in who could be A.D, and one of them is definitely Spence's twin. I do not think she switched places with her from the start already. Cause if she would have.. than in my opinion Spencer would be A.D (and not her twin) for example, for being mad at her friends not noticing she isn't Spencer herself. And if Spencer really did try to kill Allison, well, she would be crazy and messed up enough to be/play A.D. But I stick with Spencer being Spencer. And her twin definitely being in the Hanna dream scène, and she also and not Spencer, was definitely the person at the airport in the latest episode. (Her; "Don't tell my friends about me seeing here" to Ezra, was the final clue for me, that there are two of them) And being A.D or not, I am for 99% sure, Spencer definitely has a twin sister. Which also is going to be revealed later in the show.
I think Spencer is the one with the twin, but the twin is Bethany Young. Remember when that doctor said he "delivered two of her children". The key word is "of". If there were only two children, the doctor would say he delivered both of her children. She had more than two kids. And I'll always hope and wish that Aria is A. The evidence is insane, there's so much of it. But if we can't have that story line, this is the next best thing. But Spencer is Spencer, they didn't switch places.
I love Aria being A but i cant find a good enough motive. Also with Bethany, she was 17 at the time of her death when Spencer was only 15 so that's the only thing keeping me from saying it's Bethany. now Bethany and Melissa being twins makes more sense. they do have very similar voices and Mona said she saw Melissa as queen of hearts but it was probably Bethany.
The Perfectionist Ik pll is finished now but I’m still gonna say how this doesn’t make sense 😂😂. Sos if u don’t understand this I’m trying my best to explain it. There are two years difference between Bethany and Spencer , but there are 6 years difference between Melissa and Spencer. How I know this is because remember in season one when Spencer steals Mellisas paper taking it off as her own? When she changed the name and date of the paper the original date said it was made in 2004 and when Spencer changed it she wrote it as 2010. That means Melissa was six years older as Spencer as she would have written the essay when she was that age as well. So Melissa and Bethany have a four years difference which means they couldn’t possibly be twins x

They refilmed with the exact same clothes that premiere scene several seasons later to fill in plot points, it's possible that wardrobe didn't have the necklace anymore and gave her another one. Also, the show is known to coming up with story lines as the seasons go on, I highly doubt that the Avery is Spencer's twin theory dates from 7 years ago, the show runners don't plan ahead that much. In season 5 or 6, I can't remember, when it's obvious that Troian is wearing a wig, however she stated in an interview it was to give her hair a break because it was getting fried from all the hair styling. Great theory though, but I wouldn't rely on I. Marlene King's ability to plan that far ahead. I'm sure they thought of who A.D could be as they were preparing for season 6.

i agree, the twist should be spencers twin, and it must have something to do with fire... there are too many fire incidents in this show and it will end with a fire aswell so maybe something really bad happened with AD because of a fire and this AD blames all the liars for this maybe it was the night that jenna got blinded and AD could be Avery or maybe its Avery who pretends to be spencers and its spencer who's taking revenge now

I love this theory❣️ i never thought Hannah was dreaming about spencer when she was being held captive. I think AD (Avery) had kidnapped spencer at first. She swapped places with her because Avery probably wanted what spencer had.i think eventually Avery had convinced spencer/ worked it into Spencer's mind that they could work together. Spencer was obviously pissed at the girls for not noticing like you said, i.e. Playing the game again. Both spencer and Avery took turns in portraying spencer Hastings. Avery and spencer obviously are different people with different personalities, so at first Avery played perfect spencer really well and slowly but surely brought in real spencer so the character had two sides so if spencer starts acting....not so girl next door-ish it wouldn't be so abnormal for the rest of the liars to see that side of her.One of the two twins obviously is wearing clip on bangs or something, so when Hannah seen spencer in her dream, it wasn't a dream that was probably Avery or spencer. This theory narrowed it down to two suspect duos. 1)Spencer and Avery
2)aria and Ezra

It wouldn't make sense, at least for me because many times Spencer had flashbacks about moments she shared with the girls when Ali didn't go missing yet. If Spencer was Avery she wouldn't have those memories unless Spencer has always been Avery.

However I think the first time we seen Avery was season7 ep 15 wen spencer someone managed to change clothes three times and randomly started talking to wren at the airport. I think the reason she told Ezra not to tell anyone about her speaking to wren is because she didn't want spencer to find out or else she would know about Avery.

I think sara knew. she said that she was looking for the same thing as the liars. what if she was just trying to figure out who was the real spencer. not 100% sure of sara's involvement. but theres got to be something since they brought her back after the time jump.
They wouldn't make the whole A plot line about Spencer, that just opens up so many other plot lines and they would really have to stretch this because of the timing of things because we know that A was Mona, then CeCe. And they would have to come up with how there story lines all connect from the very beginning if Avery was A.D meaning that Mona and CeCe were working under him/her, when we know that Mona came up with "the game" by herself and CeCe continued it in Radley. And I don't think they have enough time to do that and answer the remains questions.

My theory is that Spencer is a twin, Avery could be the twin but I'm not sure, I don't think that Spencer was the one who was on drugs on purpose the night Ali "died".
I also think that the twin works for A.D. And the twin had tried to protect Spencer when she had gotten shot. Remember the scene where Jenna is carrying a gun and Noel dies, "Spencer" screamed "No" but I think this was the twin trying to protect her sister, but failed . And the persons trying to kill Spencer was an accomplice of Wren's and the twin. When the twin tried to protect Spencer it made Wren and the twin fight, at the airport!
Another piece of evidence is when Hannah is held captive and has the dream about Spencer being there and helping her out, I think that was the twin, because the twin mentioned A.D and Hannah didn't know who A.D was! When the other girls gave A.D Hannah, after came the text from A.D, the very first signed A.D text!
And the twin has always been there from the first episode.
She had the motive to be A.D and find CeCe's killer because CeCe is the twins half sister.
She could have been the one driving away in the most recent episode (this is written the night before the last episode). Wren and maybe another person are A.D!
Marlene King tweeted that A.D's reveal will be "heartbreaking" therefore it is someone we may have known and trusted from day one.

According to the books, there is an "evil twin" posing as her sister, while the other twin sister is locked up in a mental institution getting drugged, because they think she is the "evil twin". So this theory is not hard to believe. Just saying......read the books. 😉

I think that's a definite possibility, and I think that Marlene has left this so open ended to make it impossible to pin down the real story until the very end. Personally I think that either Aria or Spencer has some kind of multiple personality disorder, and one personality is A.D. Both characters have a lot of inconsistencies, Spencer in particular with the weird interpretive dance bathtub scene, the memories that don't add up, and the fact that she is the child of someone with a mental disorder. But Aria's uncle was institutionalized and there are also a lot of clues with her as well. AND THEN Ali's story STILL doesn't add up to me, I don't think she's A.D. but I think somehow everything is still tied back to what we don't know about the summer she went missing. Lol sorry to ramble at you.
Or maybe Veronica adopted Spencer and not Avery so Avery felt some sort of hate for Spencer because Veronica left her with a mental mother in Radley

I'm not sure exactly how this would fit in but at some point during their time in high school Spencer's mom is yelling at her saying that she is worried about her because years ago she had such severe "mood swings" that it seemed like she was two different people and she never knew which Spencer was going to come down to breakfast. And that it seemed like that was happening again.
I'm not sure if this has a direct fit into the plot or is maybe just alluding to the audience that something is off with Spencer either in the form of split personalities or a twin situation.

but I heard AD is someone we have seen right from the pilot. we never saw avery. Maybe it meant we saw Spencer cause it's her twin?
What if all of these clues, rather than pointing to Spencer's twin, point to Spencer herself? What if she has split-personality disorder? That way, most of these clues make sense - and it's heartbreaking, as the cast and crew of the show have claimed it will be.

good theory, however is Avery switched places with Spencer and then drugged her up, Avery's friends would have noticed that Spencer has the same face as their friend. I like the twin theory ideas, but I don't think Spencer has an actual physical twin. I think Spencer has a personality disorder and sometimes her 'twin'
AD comes out and takes over. Spencer never remembers this. The drug use her way of self medicating sub consciously. She's been the most obsessed with finding out who A is during Mona and Charlotte's turns as A but seems less enthused now, maybe she knows somewhere deep inside that she doesn't want to know but she doesn't know why. When Spencer is in control of the body AD feels dead and lost which would explain AD's message to Spencer that said, you know me you killed me. I used to have an Aria split personality theory, but now I think it was always Spencer. No one who has ever worked for A D or Uber A ever saw her face so no one ever knew.

I've read up to book 13. Unless there's a new revelation after that, Spencer was not adopted. Her parents used a surrogate for Spencer because Mrs. Hastings had a difficult pregnancy with Melissa. But she is biologically related to both Mr. and Mrs. Hastings.
I have a MAJOR clue, remember when (i think) Aria and Hanna went to the zoo to catch A? Spencer was there but she was acting really strange and she had blonde hair. Later the real Spencer came and told them that she was late. The girl they thought was Spencer, looked enough like her for them to believe it was actually her! That could have been Avery with her real blonde hair! This scene for me proved that Spencer has a twin.

I can't watch the whole video so I hope my comment isn't about something that I haven't seen but, even though I would love it to be Spencer's twin, I don't think it will. There's only 3 episodes left and I think it's too short for them to introduce a "new" character + make it A.D.… or if they do, I'm scared it'll be badly done because it'd be to quick… Anyway, I'm exited to know the truth but I also don't want it to end, it's like a part of me will die with the show aha

This could be a little late but I think Spencer doesn't have twins, she could have triplets. The reveal is Alex.My theory is in the previous season other girls kept hearing/talking about Avery, the last one to meet Sarah. So Alex could kill Avery because Alex worried she would know and meet Spencer then telling all of the truth who A is and tells A's motive.

In my video i clearly point out that spencer is the girl we see drinking with the liars and the girl we see fighting with Ali and being caught with the pills, Avery takes her place after the Ali fight and Avery is the one that says "she's gone ive looked everywhere for her". Avery is the Spencer we know. Spencer is A.D. getting revenge bc the other girls didnt notice.

If Avery took Spencers place "That night" then all the torture she has gone through at the hands of "A" has been by choice... Right? Wouldn't she have assumed it was possibly the twin whose life she stole toying with her as a form of revenge all this time and leading the other members of the A team as well.
This means that the real Spencer would have found out "That night" that she was a twin shortly before being switched in season 1. The only thing she wouldn't have known is that she was adopted or related to Alison.
Something is missing. I don't think this is enough motive to do what's been done to all the girls. Also where has she physically been the entire time she's been in charge and how can she afford to do what's been done over the past seasons? If "Avery" was part of Sara Harvey's group that means for some point in time she was actually living as an average high school girl. Her friends being unaware of what she was up to. Wouldn't this also mean that Sarah Harvey would've recognized Spencer as Avery upon first meeting her?

This is a good theory with many valid leads but it would mean that the writers knew about this huge plot twist from the start of PLL since the necklace scenes are from season 1. I believe this is very unlikely.
marlene has said time and time again that there has always been a master plan. i believe this is what they wanted from the beginning, or at least they set it up in case of leaks as a back up plan. then again they kinda set up everyone like that.lol I think it's very plausible but that's just my opinion. I just hope they dont make Bethany her twin bc of the obvious age difference, lol
