Layton was no more used to the quickstep than Ellie was to the American Smooth - both were inexperienced, yet Layton is criticised and Ellie is praised to the hilt. Just sums up how this season has been, but luckily Layton has a will of iron and gave Nikita the ultimate partnering challenge.
proud doesn’t even begin to describe it - this has been my favourite dance of the season since week 2 and i doubt that will ever change it’s just so special
Love it! The sharpness, synchronicity and his frame! Love how all the judges pointed out that he's now an accomplished ballroom dancer and how he has improved in leaps and bounds, it's so apparent to see. Just brilliant!
I was right about this being the judges pick . This is Nikita‘s favourite dance. I’m so glad they got a perfect score, finally for it. It was splendid. Best partnership ever, the look they give each other is out of this world.
Not getting 40 meant we got to see it again in the final though@@tomprice9204- thank god we did as this one was even better- their bodies were so much closer, and you can tell Layton’s got better at ballroom since then. Love them x
Just watched their performance of this from earlier in the season and then the final version again, and must say that Layton's partnering skills have improved massively. Yes, of course he had some of his prodigious dance skills from the get go of this season, but he has also worked his ass off and learned a bunch of ballroom partnering that he didn't have back then too, and that stuff isn't easy. Nikita and Layton both did amazing work.
A performance for the books. These two have become SCD legends, rightfully so. I cannot thank them enough for bringing me joy with their amazing artistry.
Gave me chills the first time and had me floored the second time, absolutely incredible! Amazing choreography and the execution was just nothing short of perfection! ❤
I've just watched the third show of Strictly 2024, but I've had to come back here once again and rewatch all the dances of this extraordinary dance partnership. Nobody will ever be so wonderful as Layton and Nikita!
Spectacular. World-class partnership. Hope Layton and Nikita continue to love and dance together xx And this quickstep has grown on me somewhat- still AT and Rumba at the top, but you can really see the ballroom progression through this dance. Our boys are always winners xx
Breathtaking. Finally a 40 for this too. Yayy. The shock 🥺🥺🥺. He’s getting better and better at his ballroom techniques, they are beginning to get impeccable to see! Such an inspiration and a perfect ✨SLAY✨
Score - *10/10* ofc it was 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Well if that's not a message to anyone who said he couldn't do Ballroom then what is! That was incredible, flawless and perfection. Electrifying travel across the floor, so many more details and great expression, it was more controlled and Layton's topline is unrecognisable now particularly the frame, it was even more synchronised and stronger than the first time and yet it was still amazing back then, this shows his progress across the whole series and once again I was looking forward to seeing it and I was certainly not disappointed, once again probably one of the best Quickstep's in strictly history 😍
Yes, definitely a 10. It looks like Layton has learned how to let Nikita lead him (or at least, to some degree - it's something he would continue to work on if he did any more ballroom dancing). But he's not trying to charge ahead of Nikita.
the sweet karma of this. so many people constantly talking nonsense about how he’s bad at ballroom and dancing in hold only for him to come out and deliver this. the only ballroom dance to get a 40 all series! and has to be one of the best quicksteps ever on the show! going to miss them so much, they’ve been one of the best partnerships of the show and are my winners 🩷
Really sad that these two diddnt win week after week they were at the top of the leader board with amazing scores will miss these twos great dancing in my eyes there winners🎉
Layton has improved and mastered his technique over the course of 13 weeks. He’s a true pro Latin and ballroom dancer. Vote to have him join the Strictly judging panel!!
Why the panel? Don’t they usually have expertise all styles of dance to be able to judge? I mean everyone knows he came in a very skilled professional dancer, I’ve seen him in various shows in the west end myself, but if the particular style you say he’s only been introduced to/improved on in 13 weeks, I would have thought he’d need a bit more experience, before judging what toe, body placement, posture etc. he’s looking for. Saying that, with practice purely in all fields he’s not 100% familiar with over the next year, he could easily come back as one of the pro’s.
So good! They produced some of the best dances I’ve ever seen on Strictly. I know some people will say Layton came in with an advantage being able to dance, but you have to admit that without him, Strictly wouldn’t have been as exciting to watch. I wanted L & N to win. But congrats to Ellie and Vito. She worked so hard and improved so much throughout the show. This has been one of my fave years watching Strictly. ❤
Layton & Nikita are my number 1 🎉 and Ellie & Vito my number 2 🎉 and Bobby & Dianne my number 3 🎉 Despite everything, congratulations to Ellie & Vito. Layton & Nikita gave me the best there is every episode. I love them ❤❤
All 3 finalists were winners in different ways in my eyes. Layton was just peerless and on fire and as he said, he already felt like a winner, he didn't need a trophy to prove it.
Layton should've won. He not only danced perfectly but he challenged gender stereotypes and heteronormativity. He made people know that its okay to be yourself because there are people that will love you and celebrate you for being different. He won in my eyes - he had the highest score at the end of the day. The pathetic British public werent ready for someone like him but he excited me every week with his routines. What a star!!
@@0R1B3ANS certainly in this series, i was thinking of my favourite dance from each style from this year alone and i think layton is the best in most of them.

Next is Layton and Nikita dancing there first dance judges pick the Quickstep. Laytons legs as aways are impeccable, the top half with his frame still needed some work however this dance really suites him and he did amazing with this one.
Fantastic style, top notch. Like a set piece from a classic Hollywood Musical. It's a pity that the professional panel of judges don't select the winner - the public can always be relied upon to pick someone from a soap opera, regardless.
@@gloriajenkins1569 In a dance competition that is mostly superseded by previous Dance experience, no matter what the dance is. For example the pro's won't have alot of experience in all the different dance styles but they pick it up quickly due to their general dance experience
The judges have no say in the final result. Only the public vote counts. Layton being good was evidence against him, his crime of being a professional dancer.
Layton is a professional dancer from the age of 12. So it would be right and fitting that he was in the show as a professional dancer not a celebrity! BBC seem to have to break their own rules? The judges flip flop no consistency, Layton should have been eliminated when he was in the dance off only Shirley went with her conviction ~ the dance off alone! Not the series or best dancer! Craig is all over the place, says 1 thing ~ brilliant, Perfect, then gives a 8 or reluctantly a 9 keeping all about him. 🙁. Time for a change! Bobby was brilliant in the final! Amazing, brilliant emotional he is so genuine What a partnership Perfect! Bobby Dazzled. 🕺🏻💃🏻10!
Let's change the record, shall we? He didn't win, so you can rejoice. Clearly the producers, the pros and the other celebs were happy to have Layton competing, because they knew what he could do, but they also saw what he could not do when he started, and what he can do now. I remember Torvill and Dean getting just as much carping when they revolutionised ice dance, and it took judges and audiences some years to catch up and progress. This is much the same situation. The irony will be that when the sweet and talented Ellie is forgotten, the two 'losers,' Layton and Bobby, will be striding forward with their careers. Karma.
did you even TRY think of any logic while typing this? i hope you realise there are more than just 1 style of dance. being a pro in one style doesn’t mean you know immediately how to do another. its like a brain surgeon trying to do heart surgery. the professional dancers on the show have been trained in ballroom and latin as young as 2 years old, and have been doing it every dance for the rest of their lives since then. Layton did jazz, tap and ballet which aren’t styles done on Strictly. he’s not qualified enough to be a pro. before Billy Eliot, he had no ballet experience- he made it up in the audition.
